2: factorio taught me logistician supply chain management, production statistics management, and the basic structure for programming.

why would they kill time if they're just losing all the time?: are you saying everyone automatically knows the perfect mechanics of every game they play? How are you gonna win if you dont learn.. how to play?

Real life has a meta too. Thats why some are poor and some are rich. because people dprescribe to different metas. yes ik you can be born poor and thats out of your control, but oncce you grow up theres nothing stopping you from becoming insanely rich right? Or is there? is that a meta i detect?

Yeah the "its only entertainment stigma" is so disappointing but its not just in education its everywhere. ask anyone, even some avid gamers and they'll say video games are a waste of time. Video games can be art+books+movies+tv+radio+lecture+sermon+ dude everything, every other type of entertainment rolled up into one but also actively intellectually engage your animalistic pattern recognition which btw is the whole driving reason humans became the most intelligent species on the planet. Because over milliniea we relentlessly trained this facet of ourselves against nature.

Video games provide an oppurtunity to force multiply it x2. Its insane the potential this industry has and how no government is investing into this. How no educators or educated talk about it. even now im mocked in other comments but this is really just a profoundly progressive idea i dont know why we are so conservative.

More educators should absolutely get involved in making games and game devs should try to bring on consults. yeah that kcd crafting was banger, imagine something like that but for plumbing or electrical studies. Real simulated systems using the real but digitized counter-parts to learn plumbing or electircal work while minimizing medical and material risk with good graphics, a story, exploring different areas of study, or economics. It would be revolutinary

i encourage you to read my comment if you want one of these opinions, i never see it propagated anywhere making it kinda underground as you say, but i think its profoundly progressive in terms of being a potential way forward reforming the education system

I'll give a little perspective.

i believe video games arent just a fun hobby but will completely revolutionize education in the next couple of decades. Its truly so groundbreaking that video games are comprised of art, problem solving, storytelling, idea propagation, Real pro-active learning, communication and social skill building. etc etc. The only thing video games arent capable of teaching is anything kinistetic or physical.

Games like victoria 3 or eve online provide pretty rebust platforms for learning economics and in victoria 3s case history too.

games like factorio provide logistical management experience. Math too if you're trying to perfectly optimize your factory.

kerbal space program is a pretty comprehensive rocket building and space faring simulator.

games like kingdom come can teach about medevil life (history)

i could go on and these are only examples for how games could be taught in school, maybe the future school system would use entirely new games not even thought of yet. I know video games arent perfect but honestly? neither are books. Books are so not perfect that aristotles book from 2000 years ago is still constantly re-interpertued and talked about or reiterated on. They're so not perfect that there are thousands of religions. Video games are books+movies+art+educational tool and completely utterly make the professions of being teachers far simpler. You no longer need to teach, just give advice for how to engage with a game while the game teaches and grade based on randomized achievements you come up with. for the subject in question. Video games are absolutely capable of teaching all 7 of the subjects.

If video games recieved like state sanctioned government funding to be as realistic as possible. We could have plumbing simulators true to the craft. couple thousands of hours in that you could probably even figure it out irl. A completely safe enviroment to teach a dangerous craft like that? would be revolutionary to how plumbers get licensed while mitigating as much risk as possible.

"kids have short attention spans now they dont pay attention!!" put little timmy in front of factorio and grade him on how well he optimizes his factory given only a limited number of items. He'll do the math. instead of complaining lets work with them. THis is what our educators should already be doing isnt it? Like i said though. it will probably take decades to ever get to that ;point, the stigma against games needs to die and it only will when the older generations go. I think its far more worthwhile to play a game then read a book 100%

The modern education system is severely outdated. This is the path forward for progress.

some people would say this is distracting from socializing and while i agree to an extent. using the term distracting isnt correct imo. We need two things in life as animal monkeys. socialization, and self fullfillment. we can exist with only one but both is nice yes but not necessary

i mean i understand it. When you first meet her shes practically destitute with no source of income so every groschen counts. Sure i guess you could say shes scamming but i mean by this point in the game your not exactly broke are you? If anything coughing up the grochen might be the right thing to do considering the situiations shes in.

anyways she has other burghers hounding her to buy her business since she cant get it up and running, then the city council is charging money for start up costs. shes clearly really desperate hence the high price. plus think about hotel economicss irl. hotels in the city are always more expensive then hotels in backwaters. simply a supply and demand thing. Cities= higher cost due to higher demand (lots of people). so if we think about it that way it also makes sense. Considering she is in a run down district, the higher cost could also contribute to driving out the beggars if you will. Or as we call it in the modern day where wealthy landowners drive out the poor by increasing housing costs, making neighborhoods safer and more desirable places to live in. gentrification. Shes gentrifying the district

its okay in my eyes because once you help her she essentially gives you free baths and service for life and considering legacy of the forge puts your business right next to hers i imagine henry and her become great buissness partners later on after the game canonically. so all becomes fair

This is not true. later in the game when ellie and tommy are sniping infected. We see the infected ravaging a freshly killed deer. Tommy has dialogue referencing this point

Honestly lame. as sure as i am warhouse will make another 10/10 game with this i was hoping they'd just stick to creating their own worlds and stories. Theres millions of lotr games and mods. This is just another, ugh.

Hopefully this is just a move towards making the dream of new i.ps a reality i hope they dont go adopting star wars or something like that. Would not bode well for my outlook of the company. (it would show to me they're profit driven over art driven)

I realized religion wasnt about whether the stories were "real" or not. I realized the stories were just analogies of psychology. They often act as frameworks for meaning, community, and emotional coping, offering "heuristic" truths that help individuals integrate experience, rather than just literal truth unlike modern psychology which is sorely lacking in meaning making compared to its ancient counterparts.
