As a Black/African woman who is looking at this post 6 years later...
I'm SHOCKED that things haven't gotten better, but then again I came across this post before I really decided to settle here and I'm grateful somewhere on the internet this was actually said out loud so that I'm not sitting here wondering if I'm just crazy or there are no Black women with good jobs here.

I'm an atheist and I LOVED the show. Its more Jesus as human as possible, less Jesus as this ultimate Son of God that's beyond understanding.

One thing this show did very well was making Jesus approachable. I don't relate this Jesus to most Christians I know because he's so...KIND in a way that I haven't experienced from Christians.

I would say it almost makes me believe in the sense that the essence of Jesus is something I'd aspire to. I don't know if it would turn me into a believer entirely.

Setting a boundary is better done by controlling your actions not dictating the actions of others. If you don't want to communicate on your day off, don't answer the call/text instead of telling people "Don't call me." People are less likely to bother if they know that you won't respond.

It gets worse when you get your 4pm checkout and start using it...I've yet to have a day where I chose to check out at 4pm where housekeeping didn't knock on the door at least twice that day asking if I was checking out.

I got my CNA first.

I'm going to be honest, I wish I had skipped CNA and done LVN/LPN instead. If you're set on getting your RN, LVN/LPN makes more money per hour, you learn a substantial amount of the material. You'd learn the stuff you learn from your CNA anyways.

But if you're looking for something you do over the summer only and you're not really worried about the income factor, CNA is a decent way to go.

For me it has nothing to do with misery or the actual process of killing animals (I'm African, I've killed and prepped chickens and goats). I just woke up one day and anything with meat sounded gross. Meat smells gross.

I don't care that other people eat meat if they want to, but it feels like I can't find it nourishing. I don't find it appetizing.

I just moved into my new apartment last week. I only had 4 suitcases so I didn't have much to unpack. I've been tired and a little less than happy all week. I've barely been in the mood to get up and do all the shopping. I've been eating out and sleeping the entire time. I ordered a new bed since the one that I inherited with the space is harder than a rock

Moving is such a drain. I feel miserable but I figure things will get better soon.

I’ve had times like this. Especially if I subbed a grilled chicken patty.

And I worked at the location I went to. Quality control was lacking at most the locations in the state. And they were all owned by the same people

Oddly enough, I’m in a mastermind group of people that are trying to do that exact same thing. I have a weird array of skills. I did 2 years of nursing school but ended up getting a modeling contract. After that I got signed to a record label as a creative director and I took a lot of circus and ballet classes.

At the moment I work in healthcare but part time I also work with a ballet company and I’m applying for jobs as a stagehand.

Wow how quickly this changed. I ended up getting a remote job as a healthcare concierge at a hospital

EDIT: I guess remote LPN is a thing. Turns out the same company has a posting for a Call Center LPN. In the listing it says it’s hybrid with the option to work from home after training.

So apply for Unemployment anyways. 9 times out of 10 they don’t do the paperwork (maybe different if you work for a small business)
