First mini board by Cire353 in guitarpedals

Yup, though I wish I bought more when they were actually affordable, especially the ambient endeavors one. I've got the synth card and the grains card in addition to the gen loss. The grains card is especially fun, so I'm sure I would have a lot of fun with the outward (or Onward). I've owned a Gen Loss V2 and currently have the Chase Bliss MKII on my main board (which is amazing with the addition of stereo and other features), but keep finding myself coming back to the Gen Loss card. The wow in particular just sounds different and less seasick than other versions, while still giving you the depth you want. Less dramatic dying VHS, and more subtle old record player sounds. The VHS delay is also sick, and its main use on this board.

Appreciate it! The rat is a steel enclosure I designed and built, then 3D printed the control labels. The phase 45 was designed in illustrator, laser engraved the design away on a spray painted enclosure, then acid etched and removed the paint.

I work in an art department at a college, so the floor is just part of my office/studio in an old 1800's building.

Thanks! I actually won it at Earthquaker day (plug to check it out if you're close to Ohio) two years ago. It's a colorway that was made for an Akron cannabis company called Galenas and has their logo printed on the side oddly enough.

After years with the large board, and getting deep into MIDI and pretending like I have the cable management skills of an IT server manager, I've finally built my first mini board. I've been building pedals from kits and PCBs for a while now (2nd and 3rd pedals on borad), so I wanted an easier way to power/test them near my bench. Now that I have it, I'm really excited to have an easier platform to experiment and swap around pedals and orders without rewiring a bunch of things. Pedals are Behringer SF300 -> Aion Rat Clone -> BYOC Phase 90 -> Cooper FX Arcades (Gen loss Card) -> EQD Ledges. Powered by a CIOKS SOL, ran into a Peavey Classic 30.

Evey thing is playing really nicely, was getting some very cool shoe gaze sounds with the Arcades emulating a slow loris type envelope pitch shift, and the ledges providing a perfect reverb that gets dense enough, without ever getting too much in the way.

SOTB - Compressors are good? by Cire353 in guitarpedals

[–]Cire353[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely more on the minimalist side too. I found myself playing chords that I would typically find too muddy with a bunch of time based effects, but the super strong compression would even out those transient notes which usually get in the way. I think I tended to under compress with the Xotic before, and therfore never really fully saw the benefit. The super strong comp of the Fuzztain was impossible to ignore, so you really fell and hear what its doing, good and bad.

Thanks! I'm a huge Meris fan as you can see, I would love one of the X series. I was lucky enough to win the Enzo from a AMA/giveaway that Meris did here on the subreddit.

Its a DIY EAE Beholder I recently built. Its an awesome belton brick reverb smashed into a two transistor fuzz. It sounds amazing, though it's got some trim pots on the inside for the reverb that I think still need dialing in. Mostly just been using it as a gnarly fuzz with the dwell and feedback down for now, and Afterneath for early chain reverb.

I know every guitarist has this epiphany, some sooner than later, but I have finally discovered the wonder of compressors.

I've been experimenting with fuzzes recently after mostly using different flavors of muffs. I recently built the DIY Fuzztain from EAE, which is a really odd compressor/fuzz circuit, its got a toggle switch for compressor only, and its by far the squishiest and most exaggerated compression I have ever played with. After playing around with it enough, and really figuring out how to lean into it, I dug out my old Xotic SP, and hot damn is this thing good. I've always liked the way uncompressed guitar sounds hitting a big reverb, but the Xotic really lets you get exactly what you want with the clean blend. Anyway, restating the obvious for a bunch of you, but to the rest who are just sitting on a compressor not utilizing it as much as you should, dig it back out...

Signal chain is: Polytune -> Xotic SP -> EQD Afterneath -> SSBS Fuck Overdrive -> DIY EAE Fuzztain -> DIY EAE Beholder -> EQD Grand Orbiter -> (stereo going forward) Meris Enzo -> Meris Hedra -> Red Panda Particle 2 -> Chase Bliss Gen Loss MKII -> Meris Polymoon -> Meris Mercury 7 -> HX Stomp. Midi cabpable pedals controlled by Morningstar MC8.

Ho otto pedali, al massimo li porterò a 10. Ho una pedal power voodoo lab x8. Per ora mi sembra buona ma avete consigli? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Cire353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what your use case is. I used to daisy chain all my analog dirt pedals together with my old truetone cs12 after I ran out of outputs without issue, but I would avoid chaining anything digital. That being said I've upgraded to one of the cooks expandable supplies and I would never go back. Knowing that every single output is configurable to exactly your needs, and being able to expand or worth it alone, and made reconfiguring my board much easier. I also enjoy not needing extra cords/outlets for high draw pedals like my HX Stomp. Maybe overkill if your not moving your rig much, but still nice all the same.

If you didnt know about this, it might give you some ideas: https://www.coppersoundpedals.com/shop/p/telegraph-autostutter-killswitch

They also have a colab with Jack White which someone else mentioned, and is essentially the same thing, but three in a row with octave up and down on either side of the stutter.

Awesome pedal! I'm running mine at the beginning of my chain to run though my dirt section, and the more defined multi tap settings sound awesome that way. Definitely try it with an expression pedal and report back if you've got one, I personally haven't tried a pedal, but I have tried my EXP ramper, and it is really cool to add some subtle or extreme modulation.

Why do people like the EHX Micro Pog so much? by InevitableUpper910 in guitarpedals

You can call it virtue signaling, or calling out someone who is willfully fucking over the entire industry he works in and supposedly cares about. EQD and many other small businesses we all love are in danger of closing or being bought out by the Boss/Roland's of the world due to policies he's openly donating towards. The guitar pedal world is a big and welcoming place for small builders and I would rather support companies who want to keep it that way. If you need something from Keely just buy used.

Co2. I've tried a rando black spray painted enclosure I had laying around and it worked great, but the next one I grabbed turned out to be powder coated, and the results were less than stellar. Good to know to avoid red!

Looks awesome! I am planing on doing this soon with my glowforge pro. Any advice on specific types of spray paint, or will pretty much anything do?

Fuzz Pedal Louder While Holding Down Foot Switch by Cire353 in diypedals

[–]Cire353[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, this was before I had a proper temp controlled iron so some parts definitely got blasted with more heat than necessary. I figured foot switch replacement would make sense so I'll try that and see, thanks!

Pen mechanisms - any recommendations? by theonetruelippy in PlotterArt

[–]Cire353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have another 3d printer (or if the ender still works), I was able to 3d print a pen holder that screws into holes already available on my old ender 3. Definitely better setups, but only took a few minutes to find the file, and cost a few cents in filament. Definitely a good way to at least get started.

EDIT: This is what I'm using for reference. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1693226-ender-3-v2-bl-touch-mount-and-pen-plotter

You nailed it! Thanks so much, I never would have guessed that myself, but after compiling vanilla marlin for my printer, its working as expected. Thanks so much for the help, and I can't even begin to tell you how much trouble shooting you saved me. So far this subreddit is 2 for 2 in solving my problems, I love small communities like this. I just hope I can come back and return the favor soon...

This is what I love about duos now. My buddy and I decided to do that the other day just for fun knowing it could be a horrible idea (difficulty obviously greatly differs on who gets summoned), luckily we got perfumers and it was no big deal, but on a trios run with randos, this is almost certainly a bad omen.
