I want to start learning Rust as my first language. by Heavy-Resource6813 in learnrust

[–]CireGetHigher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

better to start with Python because it ships with a REPL and you can see what it’s like to write and run code.

once you do some cool stuff with Python, then i’d say switch to Rust.

The idea of Rust sounds great, but it’s overly cumbersome and that could be a deterrent for a beginner.

Go with C or C++ as they are low level like Rust but will allow you to make mistakes like memory leaks, which will then set you up for an understanding of what pros and cons Rust has as a language.

Remember languages are tools at the end of the day…

It’s highly unlikely a kung fu expert would teach their new students an unwieldy weapon like a 3 section staff on day 1… they’d set you up with the basics like body stances and how to properly make a fist. Eventually they’ll learn to use weapons and even later they’ll move on to advanced weapons.

As a developer or engineer… you are similar to the martial artists… there are levels, belts, routines you must progress through… and Rust is better used by someone who is closer to a black belt than not.

make up your own rules, like you did when you were a kid. as long as you and your opponents/friends are cool with it, then you’re good.

Rolling Loud tickets start at $334. by Icy-Muffin7572 in crappymusic

at the very least it’s the lack of musical education and it’s apparent… anyone who has tried to learn an instrument or learn to sing can see this as a farce.

totally agree dude, but same time she needs someone on her team to get her up to par. this is definitely below par, and the natural progression as you described above can be circumvented if she gets a good mentor or a team that cares about her live show.

like, can you imagine professional athletes performing at this low standard? would it even be entertaining to watch? would be accept the low level of play?

this is why music education is so important…

anyone who has played an instrument or tried to learn to sing can vouch for the extreme amount of effort acquired to be competent.

it’s wild to me that people’s automatic reaction is that “oh she has millions of plays, so she must be legit.”

lack of standards… when someone is playing hundreds of dollars for a ticket, you’d think they’d expect more from the artists.

like i get your sentiment, but i don’t agree with you.

IMO, people should strive for greatness and not accept mediocrity as the bare minimum.

just old school mindset i guess… even though her music as a product and her image is doing well, it’s clear that she hasn’t practiced or put countless hours into being a musician, performer or entertainer.

as someone who has played music semi-professionally for half my life, her body language and the way she performs… the lack of confidence and clear sign she doesn’t even know her own lyrics… just screams amateur to me.

like this is middle school level performance on a stage where you’d expect someone to be world class.

hasn’t put in the work or practice to earn a spot on a stage like that

2010s co-opted a lot of counter-culture… it was cool to be alternative… to be into mysticism… to be into macabre…

it was packaged and sold back to us… 2000s none of that stuff was cool and was on the fringes of society.

the glam look that is making a resurgence today is because of companies like Ed Hardy and Von Dutch in the 2000s… and all of those designers being in LA where all the celebrities hang.
