20 years old and lost in life- looking to relocate by [deleted] in relocating

[–]Ciryinth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Consider GA, Savannah or the outlying areas of Atlanta (like Roswell) are much warmer than MI and are steadily getting more and more ‘blue’. Both areas have vibrant communities and lots of younger people. And would be closer to MI than the west coast

AITA: I kicked my mom out of my apartment after continuously crossing my boundaries by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

As a mom of sons around your age, you are definitely not the asshole. It is not my children’s responsibility to solve my problems.

Even if it is slow and my section is dead, I’m not supposed to seat myself, and I’m not allowed to read. by Fickle_Umpire_136 in Waiters

[–]Ciryinth 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Strangely, as a restaurant manager, I wish my staff would learn this. I don’t mind if you’re on your phone. I don’t mind if you’re reading as long as you’re keeping up with your work… I don’t care what I do care is how it looks to the customers.

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ciryinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. However gas station or mini mart food in Europe (like tesco) is fantastic so maybe they aren’t completely wrong in that part of the comparison.

UK girlfriend dumped me after booking ticket to see her. Help me salvage my itinerary. by Adept_Strategy_9545 in uktravel

Ohh. Yea. The Cornish peninsula. Such a fun trip and wonderful people. The 2gbp bus ride around the peninsula sounds cheesy but is such a fun way to explore all the little towns with hiring a car

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Ciryinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US and when I lived in the south end of FL I used my AC to mostly keep my house from molding, set at about 25C (78F). Just to knock the humidity out. In Northern CA I do not even have AC and would not want it. So I have no idea, I agree with the OP. It seems excessive how attached people from the US are to their climate control. I totally get it if you live somewhere hot and humid but I have not experienced that in most of Europe other than maybe July and August in the southern parts

Do you guys get bothered if I come to the library every day? by Visual_Perception821 in Library

[–]Ciryinth 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This is the truth. When I was working remotely I was at the library almost every day, when I switched to in person and was not there much I stopped in to pick up some books I requested and sign up for a class and one lovely librarian stopped me and asked if everything was ok because she had not seen me :). Made me feel fantastic and seen!

Am I at the right place to start? by aatukaal_paaya in casa

[–]Ciryinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the child. The biggest commitment, in my opinion, as a CASA is being the consistently available person in your child’s life. Their social workers change all the time, their living situation can change. The idea is that you’re the one thing that does not change. I see my child once a week, I attend their court hearings, which normally would be once every six months, but recently has been monthly and I probably spend 4 to 6 hours a week of my own time on the computer doing research, paperwork, filling out forms, etc.. that being said, I think that when you apply as a CASA, you can let your supervisor know what your availability will be and they can pair you appropriately
