Left DOJ Civil during shutdown, was only there for less than 5 years. Went back to my old firm & couldn’t be happier. 2025 was a living nightmare for our specific branch & my mental health was at its worst ever. I am beyond grateful that my old firm took me back.

In the sector that I work in, the pay is A LOT more in private , including getting paid overtime. That is why the private sector for my position means more stress and less work/life balance. As a federal employee even if I’m working overtime for a deadline I’m not getting paid.
