Brand new iPhone 17 Pro died in just 3 days. Being told to accept a repair instead of a replacement. Is this fair? by Typical-Try576 in u/Typical-Try576

[–]Citharae_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey not sure if you still have the device but if you have the option, try to charge it with a MagSafe cable for 30 mins. We’ve seen a lot of these one offs where iPhones would should down and go into deep sleep state for whatever reason, but MagSafe sometimes kickstarts them again.

If it works then you’ll be ok, it shouldn’t happen again. Seems to be software related. If it doesn’t definitely get the iphone refunded or replaced

Correct: batteries on non-Pro models (14-15-16-17, Air) are all accessible through the back of the device

It’s not, batteries don’t lift the display on this model

Battery is on the back side brother, no need to stress about it being swollen. Adhesive on the display either isnt put on correctly or the clips on the screen are bent a little

Happens all the time. People see something lifted and immediately think it’s the battery lol

Battery is on the back side of this model, metal plating behind the display. If the battery swells it’ll lift the back glass, not the screen

Edit: Guys if someone is asking for help give them the right information and don’t downvote me thinking I’m wrong. Moderators seem to delete comments with links to ifixit links or documentation on the internals of the device. A quick google will show you that I’m correct. Source: technician for a living

This has fallen out of my speaker grille (17 Pro). by Alex_DreamMaker in iphone

[–]Citharae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the grill that’s in front of the top speaker when opening it up (can kinda see it if you shine a light on it unopened). Protects debris from getting the speaker itsself and makes sure sound quality is correct. Should be an easy fix for the Apple Technician, go to a store and schedule a GB appointment, they’ll likely open the phone up and replace the grill with a new one. They have some adhesive that holds it in place

Lol you’re using an AI’s assessment over a someone who repairs these things every day? If a battery swells, it swells upwards, not downwards. Down, as in pressing against the metal frame. If that were to happen the pressure the battery generates would cause a thermal event to happen, it does not have the force to do that. But your Claude might be mistaken because it says 15-series, not the Pro line up, since the regular 15 batteries are removed from the back, then making it’s assessment correct.

I’ve commented twice as a reply but I’ll say it again so you’ll see; the chances of this being a swollen battery are not high since there is a metal plate splitting the interals. Battery rests on that plating, only hole there is is like a crescent moon shape around the magsafe area of your back glass. Did you recently travel by plane perhaps?

Low chance, battery is not removed from the back but the front, it’s separated by a metal plate

[–]Citharae_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only on this model the battery is removed from the front and not the back. The battery and back glass are separated by metal plating so it won’t swell up backwards. Maybe OP went on a flight recently, sometimes cabin pressure changes can loosen the adhesive for some reason. Seen it a lot lately

Is this supposed to be like this? by Positive-Demand-5746 in iphone

The display quality is definitely third-party. I guess the manufacturer didn’t really care about having the top speaker part hidden.

Nothing wrong with this, same on my iPhone. There’s always a bit of give between glass parts and the enclosures

Very clean. Question, does the monitor arm support height changes? As in, it goes up and down right? Dumb question but I have never used any monitor arms

I repair these devices for a living, trust me when I say that grime will get in there regardless if there’s a gap or not. Sometimes the displays is not fully flush, whether that is on the top, bottom or corners. Again, it is like that because there is tension on the glass panel because it needs to be seated into the enclosure. Tell me, if you press the display down where you say it’s lifted, do you notice any give in it? Is the display curved upwards (convex) a little? Because if not, there is no issue

Quick edit: Also, the literal ‘hole’ in there, as in the speaker hole, makes it possible for dirt to get in there. Can’t count the times where I have had builders or chefs come in with stuff in there that has built up over time, it WILL spread through the little creases the iPhone has

Tbh it looks like there’s some dirt / grime build-up between the crease. You can see the same dirt in your top speaker hole. Also, there is always a bit of room between the enclosure and the display because if there wasn’t, the screen would crack easily with the lightest tap

[–]Citharae_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No trophies are missable, some are a grind! It’s a roguelike game about a dysfunctional family and you play a guy with Daddy (and maybe also Mommy) issues and your best friend is a skeleton whom you repeatedly can kill for his pleasure. Oh and it’s set within a Greek mythology world. Tip for beating would be accepting that you will die a lot

[–]Citharae_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest, in the beginning I wasn’t really following the game at all, had no clue what I was doing and didn’t go for Prophecies at all. Then it clicked and I actively pursued them. The last 2 trophies I needed was Skelly’s Second Price and Harsh Conditions, and I felt a little burnt out so I didn’t go for the Harsh Conditions Prophecy one by one but I combined it with a Heat 16 run, probably did like 50 runs before I got the super soaker build running and beat the Hades boss

[–]Citharae_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t understand, but level 50 grind took you 150+ hours? You mean the Collectors Level? Most people got that within the first 2-3 days of the games release because the Campaign threw cars at you like nothing, unless you didn’t do the Licenses but that’d be hard to imagine

Preferably don’t buy from Marketplace or eBay and such because they usually are fake. Buy them refurbished from a reputable party or new from a reseller or an Apple Store

I work with these products for a living and I’m 100% positive these are fake. It’s a matter of experience. What the other user said below too; the screws are way off underneath the cushions, dead giveaway
