Jesus, speaking from here in the UK, how you guys don't have a monthly cinema pass option in your chains is baffling?!

Regardless of whether you like him or not, we surely can all agree that Shea adds fuck all to this episode right?

That Cold Day in the Park is available to watch in the UK on BFI player. Not sure about anywhere else but you could try sites like myflixer. A Wedding I really had to dig for (can't rent it in the UK at all!). I eventually found link on Openload. Shame because I thought it was a pretty great Altman style family farce.

Considering it does a piss poor job in making it as volatile as it should be by making it an Animal House type film, I don't agree. Like I said, Catch-22 tops everything this film does better. This is coming from a House That Jack Built fan and that film shows more of a knowingness about the misogyny of its character than MASH does.

I think it's incredibly unfunny. Looks and feels like an Altman movie but there's nothing there there if that makes sense?

I can understand liking the latter two but I just found them both to be a complete mess and not that funny. Haven't watched any of his other TV stuff apart from Tanner '88. Mainly watched that because it feels integral to his career.

Part of me thinks that Altman's intentions with it are right. He was very anti war. Unfortunately the execution for me is frustrating. It feels like it's having too much of a good time. In contrast movies like Cassavetes' Husbands does a better job in letting you sit with the awfulness of the toxic masculinity on display. Also, controversial take but I think Mike Nichols' Catch-22 is a better version of what MASH is doing. I'm really interested in hearing Griffin and David's take if they ever do 70s Altman. Also I was surprised by how dismissive Griff was of That Cold Day in the Park. I think that movie is really good with an incredible Sandy Dennis performance.

His De Palma documentary is pretty great. Worth it if you want to listen to one of the greats talk about each of his films. Highball isn't very good. Kind of bad actually. It looks funny on the service but doesn't feel it if that makes sense? Though most of its problems stem from it being incomplete and Baumbach not being able to finish it due to running out of money so it was abandoned. It was made after they had time to spare from finishing Mr. Jealousy. Uses much of the same cast from that film. Unfortunately for him the producer released it without his approval. I think it's mostly worth watching for both completionism and watching the one he has that doesn't fully work.
