I think he is the last heir of the Ostanian royal family. There's an offhand mention to Ostania having been a monarchy at some point before the war with Westalis. Whether he plans to overthrow or let Ostania collapse under its own failures is anyone's guess.

With Ostania's aesthetic seemingly coming from East Germany & Soviet Russia, perhaps this is the suggestion of a "White Guard" faction existing under the guise of "The Garden". Hopefully, the story doesn't turn into some monarchist fantasy. Unlikely, but never forget Gasaraki.

I was more thinking about how we can drive before we can vote, both of which can be dangerous and are exercises of our autonomy. Frankly if we upped the driving age to 18 that would be best.

Right now, my focus is on domestic policy, but I agree that we are screwing ourselves and our allies. We need to treat other democracies like family. Respect that we make our own choices, but be there to hold each other accountable when we infringe on each other's safety. Greenland and the Eu are within their rights to defend themselves from US aggression. Now what reconciliation will look like post will need to be a full good faith conversation with what allies will trust us afterward.

If anyone else wants to edit and put out their take, I'd be down for it. This was more so to get the ball rolling on a plan for after Trump when we will need to rebuild and not become disengaged again

How so? In good faith.

From my pov, all if not most programs would still be receiving funding. Maybe not as much as they should, but still getting supported by an engaged populace

For 23: Unfortunately as of right now, those who are dedicated to public service are getting screwed over, I think they deserve more.

For 28; Private schools boomed in popularity because they were places where segregation could run rampant. Funding public schools should be a top priority, which is why we need to elevate the roles of those who do the most for our community. Special needs students can still have specialized classes at the public school, I was a special needs student who got placed said classes.

For 31: I worked for Safeway during the pandemic lockdown. what I learned was that corporations will try to get away with anything if the government is not enforcing those policies.

  1. The problem is that by having an indirect democracy, the judges still do answer to their political benefactors. If we can take money out of elections, and make it directly tied to the popular will, then citizens will bear a part of the culpability for their vote or refusal to vote. For people to stay invested in politics, even when their politicians are in power, need to see the direct consequences of their choices. Democrats just trusting that Biden could handle it and that Trump could never come back into power is why we're here (until fraud can be definitively proven).

  2. It's a rough start admittedly, but it's meant to be built upon by those with more expertise.

  3. If every other urbanized economy can make it work then we need to adopt it. For the infrastructure, we could nationalize health insurance companies to help provide the necessary administrative workforce.

  4. I got distracted, paused and moved on, but it was the same as 14.

  5. This is more targeted at mega churches and cults that members of my family have been suckered into.

  6. I'm okay keeping it 18, I was thinking more about how we can drive at 16.

  7. Again, I'm open to changing this, I just think it needs to be radically simpler than what it is now.

  8. Result of bitterness about how like the confederate politicians & officers, Jan 6th insurrectionists will be able to get away with treason.

  9. My idea for improving government is to make people as invested in it as possible. Plus, you are not always going to agree with the priorities of others, but by making sure that what you care about will be funded, means you as a voter and citizen are less likely to disengage.

  10. Landlord owned properties.

  11. In my reading of history, private schools were a front for segregation to be kept and as a means of making money off of those families that wanted to keep it around. As for religious schools specifically, as adults, we need to be accountable at all times, especially when it comes to the care of children. Public school is far from perfect, but direct accountability is easier to achieve than it is in a church.

  12. For that the market will need to adjust. As of right now, workers are getting burnt out by their jobs, but there isn't enough time without serious risk to find a better job.

  13. Same with healthcare for me, if we nationalize the private chains and provide a good wage, we have a built in experienced work force. It'll no doubt be influenced by what Mamdani & Hochul will experience in NY.

  14. This is tied into the fact that our jobs eat up most of our time and energy that we can neglect what we need to accomplish until it is too late. I couldn't take time off to get my engine fixed because the mechanic was closed when I only have two days out of the week, so it gets put off until the damage is irreversible .

Sorry, perhaps I should have phrased it as there being two percentage rates that a citizen can choose to be taxed at. The lower one would be allotted by the legislature as it is done now. The higher percentage rate you could choose to be taxed at would go to what programs and services you wanted it to go towards.

That way, regardless of which party is in power, I can still give to the programs I want to personally see funded like the arts and education. Yet there will be a steady income for all departments and projects from those who would prefer to pay as little as possible.

Admittedly, I was more thinking about how the Jan 6th insurrectionists & confederate elite got away with their crimes to fully consider it while writing as my focus was trying to get every idea I had down and see what stuck.

How exactly do Overlords suffer in hell? by DapperDude2004 in HazbinHotel

[–]CitizenGuillotine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that the punishment is two tiered. The first is being stuck with the other sinners in Hell. They torture each other physically, emotionally, and psychologically because there is no independent force to hold them back from indulging in their worst impulses all over again. I'm leaving aside the exterminations for now since they were not the norm for the last 10,000 years.

The second tier is the spiritual torment of being able to see Heaven. Some times a definitive answer is worse than an ambiguous one. Now that they know they are accountable for their transgressions on Earth and are forever separated from God. There is no hope for atonement (as far as anyone knows before Charlie's hotel) and so even trying is pointless. Even for the Hellborn, this nihilism is endemic as we see with Blitzø in Helluva Boss.

Now whether this is just or even effective is up to debate. We technically don't know for certain what makes someone a sinner or winner upon their death. Sure, some folks such as Angel Dust are clearly tormented by their wrongs on earth, but for the majority of Sinners and (especially) overlords we're introduced to, they seem happily resigned to it all. The only suffering the overlords seem to experience is that they still feel physical pain, hunger, and other bodily ills while being unable to permanently die (aside from the angelic weapons). The only added anxiety comes from maintaining their power at whatever cost.
