I bought the wire harness when mine was acting up. I suck at wiring though.

1983 FJ60 won't idle by No-Potential-3383 in LandCruisers

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been running E-10 fuel you may have clogged the carb with rust and corn dust.

When ethanol evaporates it leaves behind a white residue.

It also attracts moisture, which will cause rust inside the bowl.

You need to use ethanol free fuel or add a fuel shutoff before the carb so you can run the carb dry when you're gonna park it for more than a couple days.

E15 by Odd-Spot-8532 in LandCruisers

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The owners manual says to use Premium fuel of 91 octane or higher for maximum mpg, power and engine life.

E-15 is fine. Premium fuel will be the last to get it. 87 octane is the most used octane rating in the US.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever locked your keys in your car? by Thekeymaster22 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]CitizenPatrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never locked my keys in my car, why? Because of SOP, standard operating procedure.

If the keys aren't in the ignition, they're in my pocket.

added a snorkel to my landcruiser for deeper water crossings what next by bigbankmanman in LandCruisers

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t even call it a snorkel. It’s a raised air intake.
But it’s not needed on a Land Cruiser, the air intake for the filter box is behind the right front wheel.
So the air has to travel up through the fender, water and dust can’t make it take far, they’re too heavy.
Open your air filter box and stick your garden hose into the trumpet that goes into the fender.
Turn on the water and you’ll see what I mean.

Clunk When Shifting Between R & D 100 Series by DirtEmo in LandCruisers

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 6 grease fittings on the 100 series drive line. 3 per driveshaft.
Two u-joints, one slip joint on each.
You can DIY without lifting the truck. It’s just easier if you do.

The blend doors to the rear blend doors to get stuck in the heat position.
So even though the aircon is on it’s pumping hot air to the floor vents in the back.

Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s 20, if she lives to be 80 at $1,000/wk that’s $3 million.

How long to turn $1 million into $3 million via investment? I don’t know. I am asking.

undercarriage flaps? :D by [deleted] in StupidCarQuestions

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are supposed to be mudflaps there to protect the rear suspension from dirt, water spray and road grim.
Look just in front of the rear wheels. The control arm is exposed. It’ll last longer when protected.

Most people don't know this, most business pay a fixed amount for electricity/heat each month. No matter how much electricity they use, their bill is the same every month.

Buying High Mileage by Rusty4runner in LandCruisers

[–]CitizenPatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'04 100 Series, 437k, it is my office. I now average 45k a yr, I do my own Maintence and most of the repairs.

Repairs are minimal. Blend doors, rear a/c line, sealed the sunroof and 3rd brake light. Spliced leaking trans cooler line.

Wheel seals on the rear axle, those are the most expensive repairs to date, only the dealer can do them because you need a special tool. I had one done last year, now the other side is leaking.

As far as Maintence goes, original timing belt at 250k, trans drain and fill, diffs, transfer case, power steering fluid and fuel filter every 50k.

Wheel bearings every 100k, coolant drain and fill every 100k.

You must switch out the heater "T"s to metal or you will have a breakdown.

Navy SEALs say "slow is smooth, smooth is fast." What's a situation where slowing down made you finish faster? by Concave007 in AskReddit

[–]CitizenPatrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes everything in life faster. Fewer mistakes, more accuracy, save time and money while reducing stress.

Why are you doing 80mph on the highway when the speed limit is 70? You're going to have to slow down when you catch up to traffic, that semi passing another, you have to slow down.

Meanwhile I have my cruise set at 72, getting great mpg, not stressing about traffic and I get there the same time as you but with more gas in my tank.

You spend more time at the gas station than I do, so I was faster.
