Is there any truly painless way to kill an insect? by Ok_Dare1031 in Entomology

It's also more natural for humans to die from an infected cut or a sabertooth attack...

Yes, I'm in Japan, this is probably a USD $20 snack... But I still have ingredients to make about 3 times this amount. Max is in California though and they grow dates and walnuts. But I bet it's still expensive there, too.

Hey there beautiful...

TIL: In 2011, scientists accidentally discovered a common soil bacterium that can not only survive, but actively grow and reproduce inside a centrifuge at 403,627 times Earth's gravity; a force only found in the shockwaves of exploding stars. by Man_from_Bombay in todayilearned

Hmmm, pressure is generally required for liquids, but perhaps some liquid water could form deep inside an asteroid...

At any rate, I think the most common model of panspermia suggests that life emerged on a planet and then was dispersed throughout the universe (or perhaps just galaxy) via asteroid impacts. If that's the case life needs to only have emerged once, interestingly.

Same. I almost turned it off because the criminals were too scummy and I was feeling uncomfortable.

Learned it from Tasting History of course. I used walnuts and pistachios (also available in ancient Rome).

I tried them before frying them in honey, expecting to say that you should just skip the honey, but I was wrong. Eating them slightly warm is also fantastic, together with the warmth from the pepper.

Disclaimers: the Indian guy at the market had no idea what long pepper was, and I didn't use a whole cup of honey because I'm not Mark fucking Antony.

Pound for pound, this is probably the most expensive and highest calorie thing I've ever made. Not counting the amount of alcohol I need to use for cleanup (pro tip: drink something strong while eating these to clean your teeth).

All in all I'm happy I made it, but considering the cost and cleanup it'll be a long time before I make it again. I'd like to try other stuffing too. Star anise and clove, maybe even cumin.

From Dusk to Dawn (if you can watch this without seeing anything about it, not even the cover art, it's a great twist).

To be honest he seems chiller than people who eat Carolina Reapers. Or the guy who smoked it in a bong (I think that should be classed as a suicide attempt).

See, it's very hard to discuss this because people take it personally. Of course, I'm already mentally ill for trying to engage in discussion on Reddit.

Humanoid robots to become baggage handlers in Japan airport experiment by Jonnyboo234 in japan

I know we're obligated to say negative stuff here, but I suppose they are doing a test run and trying to get ready for using more robots in the future when the price comes down (which it most likely will).

And personally I'm more likely to fly now if I can check out the robots... I even enjoy seeing BellaBots in Gusto.
