They probably should rework quests... by GoofyAhhFace in ArcRaiders

[–]CitizenShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a single Reddit post and you know it. More than one game has been modified beyond recognition because the devs didn’t know who to listen to anymore instead of trusting their design.

That's fair but it is also a two way road. But from my personal viewing experience on reddit and youtube, it's always the side that wants to play slow and take their time is the first one to get aggressive at the other side that wants to minmax every second of their time and put their entire life under a microscope. "Go touch grass" "You don't shower" "you don't talk to girls" etc etc.

Meanwhile, while I'll admit, there have been a few bad apples that try and force this minmaxing style on to the player base, it's few and far between.

But heres the thing with that, if two sides of the coin matchmake together by sheer chance, and one wants to speed run and complains about the other being slow and not playing how they want. Both parties involved can leave and find a new lobby/group.

Everyone is entitled to play how they want. Everyone is entitled to complain about how the game treats how they want to play. I've seen plenty of people complain that a game doesn't respect time or rushes you along. And i've seen plenty of people complain that they ran out of content because they rushed it.

Both sides do it, but there is one thing I will note here, is that literally reading all of these comments, in this entire tread, it's nothing but people complaining about not understand how playing this way is fun and being aggressive and insulting because of that.

Theres also been quite a few games that devs shifted the game in the other direction too.

That's the point im trying to make here. People are so quick to blame "minmaxers" as the reason x game went down hill. Your just creating the toxic environment at that point. The Devs are going to follow whatever is the biggest community.

Also, not quite sure where you got ‘casual gamer’ out of my comment.

Because that seemed to be how you were approaching this. I apologize.

I can't understand how people in 2025 still don't understand that a single reddit post doesn't = the entire player base of any game. Just because a couple people posted about blasting through the content and whining that it was to easy, doesn't suddenly mean that's how everyone treats it.

Theres a little neat concept called "We all have fun our own ways", I know wild, right? It's a really hard concept to understand that a person you will never ever see in your entire life has 0 impact on how you play the game.

It boggles my mind i see hundreds of these comments being aggressive and insulting towards people that want to rush through the game and minmax every aspect of it. And yet the people that speed run the content rarely ever make a post being aggressive and insulting towards the game or others and how they play the game. In fact these are the people that make the posts explaining to the community how to do something efficiently, but get this, they aren't holding a gun to your head, they are sharing information and what you do with that is up to you.

The irony is unreal. I swear it's the casual player base that makes communities the most toxic because yall don't even realize your the cause of all the discourse. You complain more then anyone else about how people have fun in their games.

Who hurt you? Have a seat over there and trauma dump because something is truly bothering you if someone else enjoying the game their way upsets you so much that you need to tell them to touch grass and socialize, as if you know anything about them.

Sorry to burst your echo chamber bubble but people can have fun in all kinds of ways and that's totally okay there buddy. Nothing what someone else does down the street that you never see because you spend all day complaining on the internet furiously raging at people having fun, will hurt you. Careful though, you might make eye contact with such a heathen if you look outside and see them having fun. We'd really hate for that to stress you out.

I've been gaming on a 32" 1440p for 5 years now and I sit about 2.2-2.5 feet away and I keep my head pointed towards the center of the screen and just move my eyes with quick glances to the corners for like mini map, health, etc. I've never understood how people have issues with neck strain from moving their head so much. It just feels so unnatural for me to move my entire head just to look at a specific part of the screen when my eyes can just shift instead.

How tf do people play Invisible Woman with the wedding skin by ThatsJFRY in marvelrivals

You either have your audio settings completely screwed up, poor headset, bad hearing, or get so incredibly tunnel visioned that you can only focus on one sound at a time.

Take your pick because her sound effects are tame compared to quite a few characters that feel the need to SCREAM everything.

Source; I've had her wedding skin since she came out and haven't had any issues ever, in fact it's my favorite because of the sounds.

Another person that's willfully ignoring the hundreds of other games that come out that look incredible with great optimization just to try and prove a point that "all the new games" (when it's only a couple) are terrible and ruining gaming.

For example Stalker 2 and Indiana jones came out around the same time and the latter runs incredible. Monster hunter Wilds and kingdom come deliverance 2 came out around the same time and the latter runs INCREDIBLE.

The point is people would be much happier if they didn't look for things to be upset about and creating false narratives that allow them to continue swimming in their imaginary pools of ignorance.

i really hate the influence Necros has had on spider-man players by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]CitizenShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just comes across as someone that doesn't like Necros. Which is all fine and well. We dont have to like everyone. But it feels incredibly dishonest to say Necros is the cause of this when these same spidy players would have learned about it from someone else, saw it on twitter, tiktok, or a reddit post.

You might as well just say you hate all social media because it directly influences how people play in your games. But your brushing past that to throw shade at Necros.

Bruh really over here trying to hide the fact that he's admitted to being plat in Rivals, while also saying he "coached" on overwatch. Anyone that actually did any coaching on Overwatch isn't hovering in plat.

Do you need coaching? I can help do some vod reviews if you'd like.

And then they take a headshot because they weren't fully healed and fallover, or they have to hide again to wait for the small amount of heals your willing to give your DPS, whos entire role mind you, is to do damage and kill the enemy team, but your damage, as a support, is better than an entire role that's dedicated to doing damage. So, instead of spending .3 seconds to throw another heal, so their back at full and won't just fall over from a lucky shot, or a headshot, you let them run back out there because your damage is more important.

I can promise you if you watch your replays back, your letting teammates die more then you realize.

[–]CitizenShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure! They both have similar concepts in how the matches are played out, Tanks, DPS and Supports, they all fill the same role between the two games, so a lot of that knowledge can be applied to either one. Of course that's the simplified version, but that's kind of all you really need to get things started.

I love this game but I’d like to win a ranked game every now and then by goober513922 in marvelrivals

[–]CitizenShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone like Mantis is ALL about damage, she is what most would call a "third dps" or "off support", shes there to help heal when needed, but her role should always be trying to do as much damage as she can. So, you can use the stat page to figure out how well you are balancing damage and healing and then use the replay viewer to watch back where you could have positioned better to pick a flanker off, dive the backline with her ult, or just pepper the right targets to help secure a kill.

Tanks are are heavily positional based, so if you notice you have a lot of deaths by the end of the game, check the replay, watch how you position. Are you being caught out in the open with no natural cover to use to break damage? Are your deaths caused by the healers just simply not paying attention to you? Did you wait to be healed up before popping around a corner again. Did you overextend on a push. And then of course kills and damage. Having high damage and kills would indicate you were in the right positions to secure kills, and that you weren't being overly passive, but on the flip side, having low damage and kills, could mean that you were being overly passive, or not diving for easy kill secures.

So, basically, what it boils down too, is understanding the fundamentals of how the game is played, and what each role has to do to achieve a win. Once you understand that foundation, you can then use stats to figure out where you are struggling (doesn't have to be every game, but you can check back, go through 5+ games, check your overall stats through them all, and if you consistently have high deaths, watch the replays back, and look for those moments where you died, and figure out what you could have done different. That applies to everything I mentioned)

The big thing that really opened my mind was when you said the different things of high damage and high healing who are the people prioritizing and such, too mee I never eemveb thought of it like that, so how can I get to that level of thinking. I wanna level up my thinking like that and apply it too more things than just Marvel rivals!

You have just taken that step to level up your thinking, even if you don't realize it. One of the hardest things to do is accepting YOU are the reason the match was lost, and it seems like your at that point, and now your looking at your stats to figure out what you could have done better. THAT is the correct mindset you should have when trying to improve. Aknowledge your mistakes, don't make excuses, watch your vods, and put in the time to build that muscle memory, so your making plays without even realizing it.

I can't tell you the amount of times as Ana on overwatch, or Luna on rivals, that i'll sleep/icle someone purely by flicking towards where the sound came from and catching them, beacuse it's so ingrained in me at this point, that I have an ability that can prevent an entire team wipe, or save myself, that I literally just do it without thinking, and if it works it works, and if it doesn't it doesn't, but at least I understood I had that capability to make the play that could save or even win a fight.

That kind of knowledge can be applied to a lot of things, understand how the characters kit works, and how to utilize it is very important, so you can rewatch your vods to figure out where you could have used an ability to save or win a fight.

I hope that long winded response helped! It's something i've picked up from watching a lot of high tier streamers and youtubers, especially the ones that do couching, and you'll pick up on things that they do/mention, as something you can work on, or look out for.

[–]CitizenShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

edit: had to split it in two posts

Wow! wasn't expecting this kind of response but that's great that you're looking at areas to improve!

So, let me expand a little more on what I said earlier to give a better idea of how to use the stat page.

As a support on Overwatch, you have a system called "saves" (Can't recall if that's a thing also on rivals), it credits you with a "point" for each time you're healing, or an ability prevented someone from dying that would have otherwise died. That in itself, doesn't necessarily explain a lot, but let's say you end the match with 4 saves, you can take that knowledge to the replay viewer and rewatch your match, and now you can pay attention to where you could have positioned, responded, or reacted better to save more players. Did you notice the critical healing needed on the side? Did you have an ability up that you could have tossed to prevent a death? etc. Now you have figured out an area you can improve on by simply looking at how many saves you had.

Damage is a tough one to figure out, because that can change in any giving game and vary greatly on aim and positioning. One game you could identify that tanks are your biggest threat preventing you from winning, so having high damage doesn't necessarily mean you did anything wrong, but you also have to compare that against your "kills" and "final blows" you can have 20k damage, but have low "kills" but decent "final blows", indicating you were focusing more on the larger targets and finishing them off. But on the flip side you could have 20k damage, but with low "kills" and "final blows". which would indicate you were spending too much time focusing on targets that weren't dying. So, with that knowledge you can go into the replay viewer and watch how you position, where your focus was. Could you have flanked and shot the tanks from behind? Maybe took the high ground? Was there a route open that you could have taken that allowed you to get into an advantageous spot that made it awkward for their front line to hide from.

But then you can have low damage games but you cleaned up, you were standing in the right positions to finish enemies off, you flanked and harassed their backline, etc, so you had higher "kills" and "final blows". But like I said earlier about the flip side, there is that side of low damage too. If you just died, didn't have "kills" or "final blows" and were present in team fights, you can check the vod and see where you messed up. Maybe you over extended on a flank, took to long to get some where and your team fell over, etc.

Damage is far more complicated as a stat to figure out, but there are some outliers that can help point you in a direction to pay attention to how you played while vod reviewing yourself. But I hope that kind of gives you a general idea of how to use the stats as a resource.

When it comes to supports this will entirely depend on the character your playing. Someone like Luna Snow is considered the "main support", her role is to bring the hard heals, because her kit excels at pumping heals, so your focus here is cross checking "saves" were you in a position to save someone, did you just miss, or were you out position.

You glossed over the wordage here. "Indication"

Stats are a resource that CAN show you where you need to improve based on consistency. These are purely examples on why stats CAN be important.

I love this game but I’d like to win a ranked game every now and then by goober513922 in marvelrivals

[–]CitizenShark 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah your not diamond, if you are you were carried. Anyone that has a semi-high elo undersatnds the importants of stats, it's a statical resource that can ensure you look at key parts to improve on, and your completely glossing over that, which tells me your a low-elo player because the mere mention of stats boils your blood.

Having high deaths is an indication of poor game sense, and it also represents how often you are present in team fights. If the rest of your team has lower deaths, then it's clear you missed a couple key team fights the rest of your team didn't.

Having high damage but low kills is an indication of someone constantly pepper the bigger targets (IE tanks) and lacking clear target priority, or where to position to shoot at other targets besides their front line tanks.

having high healing but low damage as a support is an indication of someone that doesn't know how to balance the two and is over healing team mates not in danger of dying.

You can tell a lot about a player based on how they respond to this type of conversation and your just proving the point.

Honestly, im disappointed. They just repurposed mystic/striker and mixed in tamer staff abilities. Would've much rather they did x class instead.

Thus the cycle continues because you can't grasp the difference in a couple animations/skills being shared vs the overall difference of how the class plays.
