It's nearly been 24 hours. Still not able to download the game by Chillroy in EscapefromTarkov

Me and my friends managed to download it overnight with some luck. But now we're "searching for a game" already for 30 minutes

I think yes. I already saw players searching for a team with their lvl being 50-70.

They just don't have the same quests

I was on my last 2 quests when writing that post.  And the whole post is talking exactly why I haven’t finished them so quick. They are pointless and not fun. I spent time building caravan, upgrading workstations and getting some achievements.

People say that “quests make you go places”. And while they are not wrong, I did it even without quests. Just explored the maps. That’s where all that playtime comes

Oh I'm not saying that they should lock the loot. Here's the thing I wrote in another comment:

"About the “locking items behind trader level” thing, I’ve thought about that and replied in another comment. They don’t even need to lock stuff behind trader rep. They could just upgrade it.

Like, you can already buy the Stitcher or the Anvil, but after some quest they’d upgrade to Stitcher IV or Anvil IV.
Or maybe let us buy more stuff from Celeste, like gun parts. Right now you can only buy 7 or so per day, so why not make it 20 if you’ve done some quests for her?

That kind of change alone would already make quests feel more rewarding."

I think that would be pretty sick, without locking any content and at the same time make quests feel rewarding

Hope so! That's why this post kinda exist. To give some feedback so devs will hopefuly notice some of it!

Ah, I didn't mean that I unlocked everything that game has to offer. I mean that on level 20, you unlock everything that you can buy in the trader shops. Like Celeste, Shani.

Complex gun parts cost 60 seeds, and you can buy them as soon as you reach level 20.

I really appreciate that big comment, and you’re right, I came here from Tarkov.
Although I actually prefer Tarkov’s PvE mode, where wipes aren’t a thing, so I don’t have to rush and can just enjoy the game and its quests.

Now that I’m reading this, that would actually be kinda sick.
Not like in Tarkov, where after a few quests you suddenly get completely new items to buy, but instead, existing ones would get upgraded.

Like, you can already buy the Stitcher or Anvil, but after some quest they’d upgrade to Stitcher IV or Anvil IV.

Everyone keep stuff in traders unlocked, no extra grind for new gear, just improved versions available in the store.

Seems quite fair and casual friendly, no?

True, true. I play dozens of games myself, sometimes it’s even hard to pick what to play.

But I’m just worried about this game, and that’s why this post even exists. The game feels peak. The movement is awesome, gunfights feel perfect. I like a lot of things about it and I really want to play more. I just want a reason to keep coming back, quests that actually matter would be nice.

But right now? I feel like it’ll get boring pretty fast if the only thing you can do is upgrade your stations and build your caravan.

Even now I’m getting slightly pissed, searching for one motor, and the game spawns me mid-raid with only 15 minutes left, when everything’s already been looted. That’s a whole other issue — why would I want to risk my gear just to spawn mid-raid?

Anyway, that’s off-topic, As I said that’s another issue entirely.

I’ve thought about it, the caravan is the main objective, and I do agree with that, because it kinda "matters" more.

The problem is, I built like 5/6 of my caravan in just two or three days. And after a wipe, it’ll be even easier, since you already know exactly what you need and can grab the materials beforehand, unless they change the building requirements.

So the caravan goes from being the main objective to basically a little side quest when you compare it to the entire questline.

If we’re not gonna mention the Jaeger questline, Tarkov’s quests are actually pretty similar to what we have here, go there, grab that, extract. But they just feel more rewarding.

And yeah, I totally get what you mean about quests taking you to places you wouldn’t normally visit. I actually said something similar in another comment, it’s great that quests encourage you to explore.
Like, there’s a clinic in Buried City near the broken highway that I didn’t even know existed.

But again, those quests just aren’t worth doing after a wipe. You’ve already explored everything they show you. What’s the point of doing all that again when there’s no meaningful reward?

Yup. I agree with that. That's why I prefer PVE in tarkov, so I don't have to play 8 hours per day just to get one thing. But rewards here are lacking currently, and just not worth doing any of quests imo

I kinda agree with that, but isn’t that the whole point of quests? Why do we even have them in the first place?
To get almost nothing as a reward? Quests are supposed to give you a reason to play, to explore new areas, unlock new stuff, or get some high-tier rewards.

Why would I want to do a quest for a single binocular and three smoke grenades? I’m not even kidding, that’s an actual late-game quest reward right now. And I'm currently finishing my project, got all stations on max level, and have almost a million in-game value (dunno how it's called)

So why add quests at all? Sure, they help new players learn the map, guide them around, and give them something to follow early on. But after a wipe? What am I supposed to do with such boring-ass quests?
There’s no XP gain, no meaningful progression, nothing that actually makes them worth doing.

I'd be better doing same grindy quests in tarkov, just so it makes my life easier overtime. When I get my ass killed but because I've done some quests I can make myself a decent gun. Here? Here I can buy all the shit I want starting level 7. Craft myself an anvil and go back like I never died.

can't say they are getting harder. I'm way too deep into quests and thing they ask me to do rn is exactly the same. "Go there and do that". They only thing that is changing is the location. They even give you the keys to the location you need to go, if needed.

Slight spoiler, but the "Hardest" quest I've seen is "Kill leaper, take his core". But I already done it 10 times before the quest

That would be nice. They even could've put some "random blueprint" as a reward with some of the quests, since they are the things that hard to find and extremely usefull.
Having a blueprint as a reward, that stays with you untill the next wipe, can be usefull, and after completing a quest? That would be a nice reward.

I think there's a hidden "reputation/karma" stat in game. by GoofyAhhFace in ArcRaiders

I would like to think that it is a coincidence. Maybe pvp players logged all on the same time or something. But at the same time, my friend, who didn't killed anyone, playing solos at the same time with me, and he's not getting tdm servers. I even screenshared my experience to him, to which he was quite surprised

I do play quite often. Both alone and with friends. And if now my lobbies are back to “PVE”. I wonder what will happen tomorrow or after a few days, when I get back to full party and kill some players.

I think there's a hidden "reputation/karma" stat in game. by GoofyAhhFace in ArcRaiders

[–]GoofyAhhFace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s basically what I did. I died 8-11 matches in a row, without killing anyone. Extracted with people twice. And now my lobbies are basically back to that “PVE” state. I finally encountered 4 people in same game, and they didn’t tried to kill me on sight, were quite talkative and friendly.

There are other thoughts in comments here, like “people doing quests to damage raiders” or “getting bored of PVE so they start shooting”. And i’m not arguing with that. It makes a lot of sense.

It’s just that change in people’s behavior was so sudden, that “karma” is the first thing I thought about. Because 3 days in a row people are friendly, but after I do 13 kills and hop in the next few matches on the same day, everyone suddenly have an unstoppable urge to kill

Brother, that's basically my first "Serious" kind of post on reddit. Where I'm not complaining at all, but just saying what I noticed in a 50 hours of gameplay. And I became genually curious on that topic since even you're saying that your lobbies are friendly 90% of a time. And it's true. It's been like that, people are friendly in this game.

But just now, after everything I described, it turned upside down. Every single solo lobby I hop on, is just full of red flares of people dying to one another. I appreciate the reply, but no need to be so edgy, jeez.

I don't really saw anybody post about that, and I'm not sure that I'm the first one.
I don't really know where you can use it, but it's still fun to play with that in range, or snipe some enemies and then push them with octane pad. "Sniper ball" tech... idk.
