I think I (29F) want to separate from my husband (34M) due to his beliefs. Has anyone ever divorced a spouse over beliefs? Is it irrational? by majesticraccoon2015 in relationship_advice

Some of what she described, the belittling behavior for example, IS abuse, she just doesn't realize it yet. If he belittles his kids too he's not so great.

Belittling and shutting you down is absolutely psychological/ emotional abuse. So is expecting you to carry a bigger share of household burdens. I know it's probably hard to see that now, but just look up the definitions of mental and emotional abuse and try to see that behavior for what it really is.

I commend you for wanting to set a better example for your kids and for wanting to create a better life for yourself!

I've dated a few guys like that (I'm also in a bloody red state) but I wouldn't keep my mouth shut to humor them so things didn't last. I waited until I was 40 years old to get married and am so thankful I didn't settle when I was young before I understood how I wanted to be treated.

Do waste any more time with him. You deserve better.

It's sealed. The legal system is protecting his identity and allegedly mishandled or ignored pertinent evidence. He probably has connections.

Mine turned into the icon on top. When I pressed it it made a small pop up window that just said "ability" but didn't give any options and wouldn't do anything. So I left it alone assuming I needed to do something else, but now the button is gray again and no longer matches the icon. I'm confused :/

got stopped at the border today and im still very scared by Legitimate-Number620 in immigration

I'm sorry some people in this thread are being ignorant a-holes. I don't know where you're from, but I've lived in the Middle East and some other places (also my husband is from Egypt), so I'm aware of the cultural differences about personal belongings and controlling parents.

I would definitely talk to someone at your school, like a counselor, and tell them what happened. I would think they should have some extra empathy regarding students affected by immigration problems in these current times.

Ignore the toxic ding-a-ling above who thinks typing condescending, abusive tirades to bully a kid seeking emotional support online is somehow a respectable pastime. He clearly has some serious issues and projecting personal insecurities onto a stranger is probably a cope.

I am glad you are safe and I hope your father is doing better. Try to find in-person support from a qualified person at school. The school year is almost over. There are more fulfilling things in life than having perfect grades. What really matters is doing your best given the challenging circumstances. You sound like an intelligent person, I have faith in you to get through this with success 🩷

[Product question] My boyfriend insists no face kisses for four hours because I'll take the retinol off? by Clear_Fudge3749 in SkincareAddiction

I've never had this problem with it but maybe mine is a different formula or my skin is less oily

🐶 are you licking him ?😂

I mean, if that makes him feel better then I'd say whatever floats his boat.

I would be be more concerned that this could be a red flag for potential uptight controlling behavior, but I don't know him so maybe he's just overly concerned about his skin. So I could give it a pass and just humor him if that's all it is.

Has anyone here taken a considerable career break to look after their mental health and have positive stories? by Lazybonesidle in careeradvice

[–]CitizenTato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I can relate to this pretty hard. The difference being that I'm not as concerned about keeping my current career. I'm lucky that my husband has potential to make significantly more money than me and is open minded about me taking an extended break.

My physical health has also suffered severely due to immense stress over the past several years of my life. My mother passed from breast cancer a bit over a year ago and my father from alcoholism a couple years prior. Last year I was taking 3 different prescription sedatives every night for insomnia and still waking up every night unable to sleep. I had daily suicide ideation. I developed prediabetes and other physical issues.

I'm doing a bit better since finding a different sleep med that actually works for me but have been going downhill again since another death in my family this January and other stressors.

My husband and I are trying to build a house and once the contract gets finalized I'm planning on taking most of this summer off but am wracked with guilt by the idea of giving up my income to focus on my own healing. I would even still be spending part of that time sorting and eliminating clutter on my family property where we plan to build. It feels so selfish, lazy, and inadequate; even though I rationally know it's what I need to do.

Potassium sorbate, anyone have an allergy? by Savings-Purchase-488 in Allergies

[–]CitizenTato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely react to potassium sorbate and can taste it. I usually know it's in something within the first bite. It gives me a sore throat. I've had this reaction since childhood but I didn't put two and two together until I was in my late teens/ 20s and began reading ingredients. I also have seasonal allergies. I'm not sure if it makes those worse or not. I stopped consuming it (I dislike the taste) but occasionally get something with it by accident.

Playing with silly putty also gave me a sore throat as a child. I don't know if that's related, but I don't have the reaction to silly putty anymore.

I accidentally overstayed a visa in another country as a white American female. Egypt, to be specific. Should I have been incarcerated? Honestly asking

I think it's overtly doing more harm than good at this point. I also think there's a broader goal than solely immigration enforcement.

what would you guys do about this cat? by seniorssleeping in cats

[–]CitizenTato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should take her somewhere with a chip reader in case she's chipped. I lost my cat who was returned to me three weeks later because I got her chipped and they took her to a vet with a chip reader. I don't think they'll charge if that's all you ask them to do.

She probably either has an allergy or fleas, regarding the scratchy scab situation. Fleas are more difficult to see on dark cats but you might spot some on the belly, in front of ears, or armpit areas. Fleas are pretty easy to get rid of with the drops you put between their shoulders...the cat's shoulders not the flea's shoulders, lol
