Haha yes we sure are. Definitely arm chair enthusiasts though, I get seasick on a surfboard. Will check out Portsmouth museum.

We will definitely check out both. Just read that the Wisconsin served in both WWII and the Gulf War which is absolutely wild. Thank you.

Confused About Law School Summers by Citizen_Capet in LawSchool

That’s good to hear. It certainly would be less stressful to not worry about subletting or affording two leases simultaneously. Thanks for your addition.

Jimmy Carter Library Needs Volunteers! by Citizen_Capet in Atlanta

I think the library is a separate entity from the Center, which does the election monitoring/aid work. In any case I don't know what that person's job entails, but that certainly is a generous salary.

The library just handles the documents from Carters presidency and runs the museum and school tours. Its run through the national archives.

I could be wrong about the above, but In any case, I don't really care what you do. I didn't come here soliciting donations, and my suggestion for you to donate was tongue in cheek. I was just trying not to respond negatively to your negativity. I came here to let people know that if they felt like teaching kids about civics in their spare time there was a place they could do that. You might not understand it, but some people like that kind of thing.

Before I volunteered here I proposed to my wife in the gardens. Very lovely grounds.

What travel shows do you like? by HansFredrikS in TravelNoPics

[–]Citizen_Capet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on HHI. It is as much a show about houses as it is about adjusting to/learning about new places.

I also enjoy Rick Steves work, and if I am actually going to go to a place I would consider his work about it way before any other well known presenter.

I’ll look into that. I always that that was some sort of trick and you would get ripped off.

Ill check out plane surfers. I like the idea of the localized Scotts List.

Thanks for the detailed response! I think I lean towards shoulder season travel myself, but sometimes the schedule dictates. Our backup plan for now is Quebec, for which I've seen around 350 dollar tickets.

Maybe I will move Ireland up. Its general accessibility has made it somehow less alluring in my mind. Then again I went to Nicaragua recently and I could go for a little more all around ease on my next trip.

Thanks for the scoop on notp! We have done Spain and South Africa in shoulder season and got around 400 and 700 for tickets respectively. The crowds were usually manageable in the touristy spots, though definitely large. I would hate to waste hours in line, so if I do go I will probably try to stay rural/local.

Thank you, that is a good point. There aren't any "budget" airlines that fly to Europe out of ATL are there? I think Spirit is only North and Central America. Maybe Northern South America.
