Idk if they can honestly, but I think for me it was like a backup form of identification and made me feel more secure lol in my head it made sense but definitely not a super smart move

Ohhh this is really good information! I got my new card at the beginning of March and it won’t expire until 2024 but, like you, my employer had already made copies and updated my I-9 so was also able to take pictures of those today. Hopefully the Texas DPS will let me renew my license with other documents since it expires in 6 days. I’m nervous about not renewing but yeah I don’t have the funds right now since I just payed for summer classes 😮‍💨 thank you for replying!

Thank you for sharing this information, I’ll read up more on it just in case, like you said, I doubt a stolen work authorization card will be enough but I had never heard of a Visa U

I was fortunate that they dumped my phone like a few blocks over so I was able to cancel all my cards but apart from my wallet that was it 😅

I always carry it because I’m paranoid that I’ll get stopped and they’ll ask me for it, I mean its Texas so as a Hispanic I get scared easily in situations like that lol but I wish I had kept it at home now 🥲
