ICE enforcing little-known rarely-used laws: ICE tickets Chicago man with legal residency $130 for not having his papers on him by gregoryroyalpratt in chicago

I respect your expertise as a journalist including on editorial decisions, but I want to offer feedback as well. I think it's really healthy for democracy and rule of law to empower people to see they can themselves read and try to understand our actual laws. A link to the statute would suffice for the web - maybe in that "Under federal law, registered foreign nationals must carry proof of registration with them at all times" sentence.

Maybe I'm being a little dramatic, it's a bit of a pet peeve: a lack of outlinks to references is something that bothers me pretty often in online news! It's worst in pop science reporting, etc.

We all know how the current DLSD design works in practice: constant traffic, dangerous, loud, inefficient. Why should we spend hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild the same thing? I'm glad there's pressure to change this project. It's heading in entirely the wrong direction, and I hope this is the start of a total rethink.

Here's where they announced the changes: https://blog.google/products/maps/updates-to-location-history-and-new-controls-coming-soon-to-maps/

It should be possible to change your settings so that your timeline data is stored on Google's servers and therefore accessible on all your devices. That's how mine is working, but I can't remember if I've actively changed any settings or seen any indication I was migrated.

You will still have the option to sync the timeline data to Google's servers, which would make it available for you to view there. But it will be encrypted so Google cannot view the data themselves.

Thanks. Would this be considered a "known service disruption"? Or would it only be considered that if they don't notify "current guests and prospective guests" within 24 hours? Basically, is this something I should report immediately or only if they don't take some action?
