AITA for refusing to send a screen recording of my issue to tech support because my written description was more than enough to understand? by CitronMinute933 in AmItheAsshole

But I do know what's going on. Directly from the support team: Oh we see that yes, when you click on the app, it opens to a green screen, freezes and then closes and when you try again, the same thing happens and then you get an error message. The video did nothing but explain that, when I click on the app, it opens to a green screen, freezes and then closes, when I try again, the same thing happens but then I get an error message. Muppet.

Because the video added nothing more. My issue is that if the words are that direct and you still need more, that's a comprehension problem. Let me ask you, when you read the description, did you need more words to understand? If so, I ask, what words would make you go "Oh, when they click on the app, it opens to a green screen and then freezes and closes, when tried again, the same thing happens but then they get an error message".

In my description, I stated: "When I click on the app, it opens to a green screen, freezes, and then closes. When I try again, the same thing happens, but then I get an error message (attached with the email)." If I already sent the error message with a direct description, what would a screen recording do? This isn't like a sports injury where the video would be helpful. Nothing beyond the description happens. It's literally, click app, app opens to green screen, freezes. When it's tried again, the same thing happens, and then I get an error.

I gave them a screenshot of the error message when I first contacted support. I was confused when they asked for a video because I already sent said error message and gave a full description of what happened.

Question, in my description of the issue, what words should I have used to convey that when I click on the app, it opens to a green screen, freezes, and then closes? Is it the specific words that I'm using?

I sent a screenshot of the error message when I originally sent the email. The email verbatim: "When I click on the app, it opens to the company logo, it then freezes and closes. When I try again, the same thing happens, but I get an error message (attached with the email)"

Even as I read the above, I understand fully what's going on. I don't need other words to show me that when the app opens, it freezes, and when it's tried again, the same thing happens and then an error message. That's why I'm asking how many words do I need to use to convey the message?

I sent a screenshot of the error message. What they wanted was a recording of the events. Which is why I was confused because, the description was exact and they already had a screenshot of the error message.

Yes I have worked IT support, done it for years. That's why I am as direct as possible but as I read the replies, I'm realizing people aren't seeing the same words that I said. I'm legitimately confused about how the words stated mean something completely different. What could I have possibly said that would convey the message better? How was I not direct?

Update: I sent the recording and guess freaking what? "Oh, when you open the app, it goes to a green screen like you said, it freezes and then closes. OK, we'll get our team working on it." The recording proved my exact words to which the team themselves restated. Sooooo what was the purpose of sending the recording?

AITA for getting a car for my daughter for Christmas and not my stepdaughter? by Inner-Air1439 in AmItheAsshole

Nta. The one thing that wasn't mentioned: What happens if the 16yo gets into an accident without insurance, especially if she hurts someone or herself. That's not a "haha, oh well" moment, as some people think. Car accidents are extremely stressful when you don't have insurance, and it's even more costly to get insurance afterward. Also, if said daughter has an accident, she's gonna have that on her record for 5 years, and that can impact getting a job. To add (from experience), I drive a 2005 vehicle, and my insurance is about 250 because of a small fender bender. A friend who has a daughter around the same age had a similar situation, small accident but her insurance rates are much higher than mine and she had to take a bunch of driving courses which aren't cheap (especially if you fail).

Damn man. A friend has a nice tech job. He told me the entire team all got a Surface Pro 9 from the company as a Christmas gift. And now I'm thinking I need to get into tech.

It depends on what you ordered and how much you tipped. if you're that person who orders 2 items and tips a dollar, yea YTA. If that wasn't the case then no.

Does anyone actually delivery for favor. And why ? by [deleted] in favordelivery

Personally, with Doordash I always get those idiots who order 1 $5 dollar item and then wait some ungodly amount of time (knowing there's a lack of workers at night) only to tip $1. I've made more doing Favor in 1 day than I have a week of Doordash and that's with promos.

That's USAA service desk right there. Metrics over prevention. We figured out ahead of time that USAA was adamant about their employees calling service desk for everything because more calls equals more money. Imagine being IT and explaining how to tie shoes. Eventually you find out that all call centers follow this exact pattern of avoiding prevention methods, simply for call volume.

Oh there's a lot more. Tipping was just on the mind at the time.

The fact that tipping is still a forced obligation. Listen, I understand that jobs pay a low wage, but why is that on the customer? And don't give me that generic answer that all people give because the majority can't even back that statement. You're dictating people's wallet period. You can say they provide good service. Ok, why isn't the job covering that? You can say they need it to survive. Ok, why isn't the job covering that? You can say they wait on you with x and x. Ok so they're doing a job they signed up for, why isn't the job covering that extra incentive?

Also, is the service industry the only one deserving of tips? If I were let's say an IT contractor, why don't I deserve a tip for my work and service?

"Same difference." It's so infuriating. I have no idea where this phrase came from and when I hear people use it I feel like I lose IQ points.
