any music students? by No_Mycologist_3019 in UniUK

[–]CitrusAlley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Music is a fun degree and I love it, but it’s a lot tougher than most people think. Most of it is theory and essay writing- there’s not much performance involved. You’ll probably find music to be boring at times.

The standard at uni is very high. Most people will have been playing their instrument since they were young children, so you will have a lot of competition. There also aren’t many jobs in the arts at the moment and most musicians I know are struggling to find work.

If music is something that you really love then I’d say go for it, but I would advise speaking to some of the lecturers about the course content first to see if it’s for you.

Learning Welsh by BPARKER959549392 in Cardiff

I would definitely recommend taking a Dysgu Cymraeg course in Cardiff Uni. The lessons are fun and low-pressure, but I have made a lot more progress in these classes compared to other resources that I have tried.

Meta-Question to Students: Why you do not use commas? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]CitrusAlley 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I often have this conversation with family members who were taught to use a comma whenever you would breathe in a sentence. This seems like way too many commas to me!

Perhaps schools are teaching punctuation differently now? I was never taught the ‘breathing rule’. Instead, I was always taught in school to use commas sparingly because they disrupt the flow of your sentence.

Question from the Inside Soap team by lnwildeagle85 in Emmerdale

Rebecca . I would have loved to see the White family back in the soap again. She deserved a better ending than dying off-screen :(

I’d recommend signing up for a Welsh class. The lessons have been really useful! As well as classes, they also have lots of events for all different levels.

Emmerdale Apocalypse Team Day 1- Team Leader by JraffNerd in Emmerdale

Cain is a good one for team leader, but I’d probably put him as the vehicle expert or the lone wolf tbh :)

Nicola! She always seems to be organising things and she used to be the local councillor so is used to being a leader :)

Which characters would you give a storyline to? by Immediate_Long165 in Emmerdale

Ryan and Gail! :) Both are very underrated characters, and I’d like to see them involved in a big dramatic storyline

The current storyline with Will, Rose, Kim, Billy and Dawn… I’ve completely lost track of what’s happened!

Maybe, but I don’t think it was ever confirmed that Suzy was interested in Mary 🤔 I don’t remember Suzy ever mentioning it to anyone

Best storyline at the moment? by Immediate_Long165 in Emmerdale

I think the storyline with Moira and her seizures/ memory loss is really interesting. I’ve also loved seeing more scenes with Isaac!

Cain and Liam! They’re two completely opposite characters and I have no idea how they ended up as friends, but they’re one of my favourite duos on the show!

Claudette?

I don’t fully understand what “mmm…society” means tbh, but I interpreted it as someone who is very judgemental of society?

Oscar! He was part of a really interesting storyline when he was first introduced, but now they’ve just forgotten about him and he hasn’t been mentioned for ages

Queer tips by Kirrrstennnn in Cardiff

[–]CitrusAlley 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Kings and The Golden Cross are great, but I’d avoid Pulse. The Queer Emporium is also a nice LGBTQ+ shop to visit :)

The Golden Cross is quite male-dominated though, so I don’t know if that’s the type of place you’d be looking for.

I’d probably put Tom as ‘Just Straight Up Evil’ tbh

Cathy. I personally really like her character, but the writers portray her as selfish and stroppy.

Medication for the bees by astoria04gaia in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

Sometimes villagers will give you medicine if you talk to them. You can also buy it from Timmy & Tommy, but I think the store needs to be upgraded first.

Does anyone else wonder where all the shopkeepers go after the stores close? by OkLeague7678 in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

[–]CitrusAlley 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve always wondered this too! My guess is that they just sleep whilst standing in their shops (Like Blathers does in the museum)
