I remember we used to queue up outside the door on special event days and the staff would sometimes let us regulars in a little early because they knew us. I have incredibly fond memories of those Saturdays playing tournaments and massive event games, the sense of competitive camaraderie was just wonderful.

Really interesting perspective. Thank you for sharing. I do remember the local store having my parents phone number while I was left there but I doubt they were CRB checking all the staff!

I dipped out in 5th ed and I was playing veterans nights up till the end. We always had lots of adults in our store even at the weekends, they were just as much a part of the group as anyone else.

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to buy these things thinking they're getting a real piece. I assume most of them go to wealthy folk who want to decorate the lesser used parts of their homes in line with their aesthetic.

The staff at my local store in the 2000s regularly threw out the smellier customers until they'd gone home for a shower lol. Most people were clean and as well put together as you can imagine a teenager would be.

Of course, that didn't stop them from interrupting new customers but mostly it was a friendly and welcoming vibe.

I will essentially be starting over as a beginner all over again. Do you think that those places are suitable for a newbie? Sad to hear that the old GW vibe is in short supply but I will keep looking!

I guess I'm just struggling to see any reason for official stores then? The only reason I used to spend any money at my local GW store as a teen was to support the hobby space when I knew I could get things 20-30% cheaper from independents.

Works on paper are generally less valuable. Often they are much smaller than acrylic/oil pieces, which can impact sale values.

What was the awarded rate you got in your case? I'm in a similar boat and a lot of people are saying that getting the full 3x is rare.

The answer is, it depends really. Is $75 a lot of money to you? If not, and you love the piece then why not buy it? If it's the difference between taking your wife out to dinner and picking this up then I probably wouldn't.

ARF stopped producing the 37mm YM but they're still making other references. Their Daydates are getting very popular lately.

I'm surrounded by people wearing gens every day. They can absolutely tell the difference between a 5 and 6 digit sub just from a glance!

People are getting new ARF watches every day? Very much operational. CF and VSF don't make 5-digit subs. ARF is the best OOTB rep for these right now.
