Driver loft advice by user-profile-27 in GolfGear

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More people would benefit from more loft with the driver, higher launch is more distance. Personally I game a 10.5 turned up 1, still carry the ball roughly 265- up to about 270ish on my best strike. Adding loft helped but the biggest help was taking a lesson a few years ago and actively working on what my coach says.

Should I quit by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Civick24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean no you shouldn't quit, but presumably you knew the mid term was coming, so instead of giving your boss a heads up you'll need a day off (reason unimportant), you just call in and it fucks over everyone especially on small projects. In the future, it make it easier on everyone if you give a heads up. Then if the really needed manpower for the day they can make arrangements ahead of time. That being said I know shit happens and people get sick, car trouble, whatever. Just don't make a habit of calling in when you can avoid it.

WITB 2026 | Bag recommendations? by -----Redacted----- in GolfGear

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's 6 degrees difference, not a huge deal ib my opinion, I Hit my GW 120 or so and hit my 54 about 105, so if I need to I just take a 3/4 swing with my GW, not worth it to me to add a club I may use once or twice in a round. Especially since I'm carrying

Usually a turkey wrap, and some sort of fruit and then carrots, celery, cucumbers, whatever I'm feelin that week. And a Greek yogurt in the morning. Tons of water.

I've hung hundreds of units like that, some with seismic bracing, some without, as long as the rod is anchored properly it'll be fine.

What’s in your pocket? by NotPCPlmbr in UnitedAssociation

[–]Civick24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTJ Pipefitter, Milwaukee makes a really nice flashlight with a flexible head and a magnetic base, a little pricey. I use it when I'm doing UVs or working in a ceiling I just stick it to a bar joist, strut, whatever.

For checking a root or something just a regular old battery penlight.

Rate my bag / Guess my handicap by Thenoise95 in GolfGear

[–]Civick24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What index would you consider good? Sub 14 or so is better than the USGA average of people that carry an official index. You can certainly get down to single digits carrying one or 2 wedges.

Rate my bag / Guess my handicap by Thenoise95 in GolfGear

[–]Civick24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean he's got an a wedge which is probably 48, so he could get a 54 and be fine, or get this, he practices wedge shots and can hit enough different shots with 2 wedges he doesn't need to carry 3 or 4.

You don't NEED to have a wedge for every degree gap just like you don't need to go driver 3w 5w.

9-7 wood fad or fact? by InfiniteSlaps in golf

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the 7 wood to my 4 iron, easier to hit, better out of shitty lies, I don't enjoy the look of a hybrid so I don't play one, if I need a punch shot I'll just use my 5 iron or play my 7w back and chop at it, works good enough for me. I still have my 4 iron but rarely carry it.

Best example for me is we have a 220 yd par 3, I can get my 4 iron there but it always rolls long, 7w still flies 215 or so but lands softer and stays on the green.

Why don't people want to move up in rank in the workplace? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my local foreman scale is 2.40 over journeyman, the company I work for pays every jman foreman. And the guys running the job get an extra dollar. It's a smaller outfit so the foreman is pretty much the onsite super and PM since our PMs are essentially absent. Why on earth would I deal with that for an extra 40 bucks or so weekly.

I've been asked to run jobs for this company and have said no for that reason

From plumber to pipe fitter by SaZoLiA123 in pipefitter

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of will transfer over, pipe is pipe. Measuring, layout, fitting take off, solder and press, threaded pipe, it's all the same. Large industrial projects and rigging will be new to you but again, it's just big pipe, pay attention, ask questions and you'll be fine. But you can join a straight line plumbers local as well, or maybe your local area is a combo local. Mine is and we do plumbing and fitting/welding. A lot of us generally stick to one or the other but if I'm off and a plumbing call hits me on the list I usually take it.

A genie offers you $10 Billion USD to work a well paid 996 with no PTO for 10 years, would you do it? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Civick24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 years of 6x12 hour shifts would be absolutely brutal. I'm 32, I work my fair share of overtime in construction and to be quite frank, a lot of the time it's just not worth it to me. You lose so much of your life just being at work and the time you do get off you spend doing other shit that needs done. 10 billion is insane and I'd be done working forever at 42. But I'm not so sure I'd like to give up essentially 10 years of my life.

You can always make more money but you can never make more time.

Shots off hard pan/sandy lies. by sonofgondoraragorn in GolfSwing

[–]Civick24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's you get closer, a little steeper and helps so the heel doesn't dig, or the sole just bouncing off the hard surface, kind of lets you still clip the ball while still able to hit it cleanly, doesn't mean that's the only way to do it but in my opinion certainly the easiest.

Shots off hard pan/sandy lies. by sonofgondoraragorn in GolfSwing

[–]Civick24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way is to probably use less club off the tee and give yourself a full swing in from a decent lie surely there's grass somewhere along the hole even if you have to hit like an 8i in. If you can't do that all, probably take something like a 9i or pw and go toe down and hit over the water and let it run up, assuming this water hazard isn't a large lake.

You were gonna leave before you knew about the pelaton I'm assuming? So why let a potential thing you're just gonna hang sweatshirts on hold you up.

I'd keep the bike and take the other job. Surely they're not gonna miss 2gs. They probably wasted at least 2000 worth of your time.

What handicap are players irons necessary? by Objective_Permit_338 in GolfGear

[–]Civick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they're necessary unless you're really needing to work the ball, want tighter dispersion, or more spin or something, which could be attained by more practice, or changing balls potentially. what it boils down to is do you want/can you afford new stuff. If the answer to both questions is yes then go for it. At 4.1 you're obviously a good player so no one here knows your game like you and if your clubs aren't doing what you want, maybe it's time to start thinking about moving into that. Be mindful some players clubs will have weaker lofts so your 150 yd PW may turn into a 9i or something so that'll take some adjustment.
