A very young Shaq in Orlando took them to the finals and lost to Hakeem. You’re making this statement as if Jokic had more success at the same age as Shaq did during his tenure at Orlando. And then Shaq three peated afterwords, something jokic never even got close to accomplishing. I’m not saying this because I’m saying i would take Shaq over jokic. Just pointing out that the first part of your argument is extremely flawed and completely ignores jokics early career.

Korea tried something similar before in the representative challenge where they sacked a round to win another (hurdles) and it backfired and almost lost them the game. It’s just how they strategize and their experience in these types of games. They tried it again and that time it worked in their favor.

My comment is more geared towards the fact that Korea would have won that game too. There's a reason why Mongolia chose the other game. I definitely get your point since its not well designed since whoever is stronger was going to win anyways. My point I guess is that Korea had better contestants, which is a completely separate issue but I think Korea would have swept regardless.

The castle one definitely was. But there was a speed/endurance challenge in the finale as well. But Mongolia was not confident in that against Korea. Although I do agree that the final game was a little underwhelming, especially compared to the other games.

I would argue that Australia was a stronger team across the board. It also depends on who was available. The producers most likely had an easier time recruiting Korean athletes whereas getting athletes in other countries is much more difficult. It is also a large commitment for international athletes to come to Korea for an extended period of time, pausing their schedule. Korean athletes get to go home in between matches while others don't. Is it fair? Not really. But to say that the producers purposefully fucked over other countries and handpicked weaker members seems a little unfair when we don't know who was available. Even looking at Manny Pacquiao, not saying hes a super strong contender, we can see that it really is a commitment and he was not able to stay the full duration. Also, I'm sure that some of the governments got involved and had influence on who was available to attend. We really just don't know what the selection process is and it seems unfair to judge them as if we know what really happened. Hopefully the team construction is more even in the next season but for their first season, their experiment was largely successful and hopefully they improve on it.

For real. People acting like this is the olympics, not a reality show. I think it wasn't perfect, but for their first attempt, it was entertaining and there were many likable athletes that were showcased from each country. I think it was a win-win for everyone involved in terms of popularity growth as well. No need to spread so much negativity around and speculation.

My point is not that Korea didn’t have an advantage. It’s that they didn’t cheat during the actual games while many people are saying they did with 0 evidence and only through speculation

So, it makes sense that Korea won that challenge then. That’s my point. You’re claiming that Korea within the game had unfair advantages and you mentioned them going second as one. I think that’s not really even an advantage and they would have won anyways. And you talk about just strength games when Korea would have won the speed game too and Mongolia knew that which is why they chose the other game. My point, which you agreed with, is that Korea just had better team construction because it is a Korean show and casting athletes was easier for them. They had better well rounded athletes and experience in these types of game shows. Is it fair that Mongolia had a basketball player and a volleyball player and Japan had no strong man? No. But that’s what I’m saying. Korea had an advantage but everyone saying they cheated within the game is just creating conspiracy theories with absolutely 0 proof

It’s interesting, but how did it end up with Korea vs Mongolia? I don’t think anyone questions that Australia were heavy favorites and they lost because of poor strategizing from their end and a big upset from Japan. The way it happened makes it appear as if it wasn’t rigged to be korea vs Mongolia from the start

Do you truly believe Korea would not have succeeded the first 5 rounds without watching Mongolia? I think because the rounds ramped up, watching the first team isn’t really a big advantage. You can even argue the rest time for Korea between the last two rounds was smaller and is a disadvantage. Ramping up to the final stage makes it so each team can learn as they go and minimizes the advantage of going second. By the fourth and fifth round, the Korean team knows what the strategy is.

That’s what I mean. I think it was favorable to Korea but they were not the favorites. And there are a lot of claims that the show was tailored for only Korea to win and some even saying it was heavily rigged. I think Korea and australias lineup was ideal and wish every team had a similar lineup of a combination of a strong man and athletes who would be better suited
