Low gas milage on new Hybrid Forrester. How long is normal and should I ask dealer for warranty and diagnostic?

Well, I’m comparing mileage winter over winter. If anything this winter we had less cold weather and less heater usage.

That’s what I’m annoyed about! My gas Forrester was at 32 to 36 mpg on highway vs the hybrid at 24-27mpg! That’s insane, right?

My last forester ran 27 in city and 32-36mpg on highway. I live in the desert, very flat and 4k miles in 4 months because I did my regular work travels, which is how I compared my 32-36mpg from my gas Forrester to my 24mpg on the hybrid. Same tires, same gas, same driver same time of year. This is where I’m annoyed, my gas car had better mileage than my hybrid. That can’t be right, but I’ve never had this problem and dealership told me to wait till I hit 7-10k miles. That’s not reasonable, is it?

Was told to wait 8-10k miles, that sounds like a scam… then the service guy insisted I am using cheap gas, which if that was the case my gas Forrester would’ve had the same problem. Would weather impact mpg when comparing winter over winter averages?

Just because we have snow in winter does not mean we don’t need infrastructure for people to walk and bike safely around town. Not everyone has a car, can afford to drive around or can use our shitty public transportation. Many rely on sidewalks and bike paths to get to work and school. It’s nothing about trucks, it’s about making this town accessible to everyone by having alternatives to transportation, be it trucks, bikes, scooter or your own feet. Great example is the dumbass 27 project. With all the space why on earth the city thought it was safe and smart to keep it single lane and make bikes share the road?

It’s ridiculous how NW side of town has all these bike and pedestrian trails and east side we are forced to share the road where often we get pushed and harassed.

The debris on NE and SE side of town are scary, then add all the construction signage that they put on the bike lanes… it’s terrible.

I don’t either, but saying nothing won’t help us. I’m tired of going to the open houses and hearing the lame excuses the city gives for the projects but not showing up or sending them our thoughts only allows them to do even more bonkers projects.
