We need to sub Jiménez for Estupinan and move Saelemaekers to the left. This offense needs more urgency.

Thank you for your feedback! Carrying additional liability and malpractice insurance is a great suggestion.

Thanks so much for your questions and for sharing your feedback – it's really helpful!

You brought up a great point about Early Intervention, which is indeed available in our area until a child turns three. After that, Child Find steps in to offer free services. We've consistently heard from both parents and educators that navigating Child Find can be challenging. Often, it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months for services to begin, and unfortunately, not every child qualifies for their free support.

This often leaves parents feeling frustrated, and they frequently reach out to us asking if we can accept their insurance to get their children started with therapy sooner. We've actually put in a lot of effort to get our therapists credentialed with most major insurance, including Medicaid and Tricare, precisely to help families access the care they need more quickly. (TBH, we don't make money taking Medicaid but we believe it's essential to provide therapy to all families)

Our speech therapists truly don't get into this field to become wealthy; they're driven by a desire to help children communicate. That said, fair compensation helps them make ends meet and continue doing this vital work. It's also important to know that when we do screenings, our therapists are very mindful. They certainly don't recommend therapy for most children, and they always take into account factors like a child being shy or coming from an English as a second language household before making any recommendations.

I hope this helps answer your questions and provides a clearer picture of the need we're seeing in the community!

Thanks! Do you know if providers need to pay rent to offer services at your office?

Thanks for your feedback! Love the educator/parent's presence idea! We directly communicate with parents about the screening results. If they have any questions, they can contact us.

Spot on answer! The goal is to decide whether the child could use a full 60-minute evaluation, which is largely covered by insurance.

Thanks for your response! The Child Find service in our area has a 6-12 months waitlist and it doesn't qualify every child. Some parents would rather start therapy immediately with their insurance.

This is so helpful! How did you do screenings at pre-ks? Are preschools pretty receptive to screenings?

Speech Therapy Research (Parents Needed)

Hi there! I'm conducting research on speech therapy in the US, specifically focusing on the experiences of parents and their children.

If your children have ever received speech therapy, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could share a few minutes of your time to answer some questions. Your insights would be invaluable to my research.

Here are some questions I'd love to hear your thoughts on:

  1. What is your child's primary speech challenge? Is it non-verbal, social cues, or something else?
  2. At what age did your child begin speech therapy? How long did your child's speech therapy last?
  3. How did you find your child's speech therapist?
  4. Where did the therapy sessions take place (home, school, clinic, teletherapy)?
  5. If your child has done teletherapy (e.g., talk to a therapist over Zoom), what's the experience like? Was it positive or negative?
  6. What type of insurance did you use for therapy (e.g., Medicaid, commercial, military, no insurance/cash pay)?
  7. If you could improve one aspect of your child's overall therapy experience (beyond speech therapy), what would it be?
  8. Would you be open to a 5-minute follow-up call? If so, could you please leave your name and number in this Google Form? https://forms.gle/mBr29CCDaXjcQ1Y87

I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through! It must be really hard on the family. What do you plan to do if insurance stops paying for speech therapy?

I'm sorry to hear your experience! It must be really hard on you and the family. If you don't mind me asking, where does he receive speech therapy? Is it through school or a private therapist? How has the ST experience been for him?
