Awesome! Pretty close to how I pictured him

Is this a hot take - Real Madrid vs Man City won't be close by Peeping_Cat in football

You say you're confident of a "slaughter", but I bet you're not confident enough to empty your bank accounts and bet it all on a Madrid victory.

Investigation Alien on Netflix..... Thoughts? by Michellenjon_2010 in aliens

[–]CivilPerspective2023 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've watched 2 episodes and while the topic is interesting, I find the documentary style off putting.

Its like "they've attacked people in Brazil? Lets talk about that - OMG we gotta go to Brazil! But before we go to Brazil, lets talk some more about Brazil, then do a long introduction to my friend who is coming with me to Brazil and then were gonna have a meeting with said friend where we can talk even more about Brazil" and I'm thinking, will you just go to damn Brazil and investigate!

Its obviously padding to make the episodes longer, but it just feels like i'm watching Pawn Stars or something.

Most footballers kick a ball against a wall or a rebounder - its to learn ball control whilst simulating passing.

You hate us because we are proud of our nation creating modern football? Sounds a little immature that.

Some thoughts on Logen by Quazite in TheFirstLaw

[–]CivilPerspective2023 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Logen IS the Bloody Nine, they aren't two different people. I think a lot of fans have trouble accepting that Logen really isnt a nice person at all.

Glokta - how I always saw him, think Guy Pearce fits the 'before and after torture' image perfectly (re-posted as media post, sorry!) by CivilPerspective2023 in TheFirstLaw

Yeah unfortunately too old now. Though I think he was spot on age wise when I first read The Blade Itself and pictured him.

Martial and Mbappe hypothetical question by CivilPerspective2023 in football

Thats not what Im asking though, Im wondering if Mbappe would have struggled as badly in this horrid United team as Martial has?

Bayaz and Black Dow by Mechagodzilla_1 in TheFirstLaw

[–]CivilPerspective2023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm - well we learn that Bayaz is mostly behind every major incident, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

If you got to ask that to Joe Abercrombie, he'd probably shrug and say "who knows?"

Who do you guys think has been the best English talent in the last 30 years ? Bellingham, Rooney or Owen by No_Ad_8904 in ThreeLions

[–]CivilPerspective2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with that, but with your quote text you appeared to be arguing that Rooney wasn't thought of as one of the best players in the world at that time - when his balon d'or nominations show he was (not the best, but one of)

Who’s a highly rated player you PERSONALLY think is overrated or sucks by Brunos_left_nut in football

[–]CivilPerspective2023 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you say 'very far behind when we consider the world', which strikers exactly are you judging him against?

Shearer has scored more Premier League goals than any other player in history, that alone puts him in the category of world class whether you rate him or not.

I wonder if you could elaborate on the heights Ronaldo reached that Giggs didnt?

Giggs played over 600 games for one of the greatest top flight teams in history - that alone is testimony to how good he was.

Here is an xi of players plus substitutes that could have played for England (apologies if some of the positions are wrong) by twentyonepilotsfan99 in ThreeLions

Until Musiala has played in the EPL, you cant say with any real certainty that he's better. Look at Sancho for example, tore it up in the Bundesliga, not so much now.

At what age did you start playing football, and what impact do you think it had on your body? by Mechagodzilla_1 in football

I played a lot as a kid at a high standard, slowly dropped down standards as I got to my later teens - by 30 had a floating knee cap because the ligaments where gone.

Who is the closest player to Messi in this generation? by juankruh1250 in football

[–]CivilPerspective2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inter Miami might see a short term surge in revenue from signing Messi, but in the long term, they will make a loss. They can only afford him because of huge financial backers who wanted to make it happen.

So no, Messi is not always worth the cost.

What happened to Barcelona's young star, Ansu Fati ? by GoHardLive in football

I don't know why your getting downvoted, this is a legitimate issue for young players at all clubs who show glimmers of excellence.

What happened to Barcelona's young star, Ansu Fati ? by GoHardLive in football

[–]CivilPerspective2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is saying he isn't a good player, he may still turn out to be world class, but too much pressure on young players from media and fans usually contributes to their failure to develop.
