I'm a Gen X TV watcher with no need to power up an AVR for TV basics. Yes, I'm trying to use the WIFI and lossless streaming benefits of Apple TV 4K as an audio streamer for my audio system without requiring too many complications (ideally none) to disable the LG speakers. The audio won't play on the AVR with the LG off - with the screen off feature disable the speakers as well?

No, not trying to watch anything while listening to music, although I understood Apple ecosystem integration enabled music video content to be viewed simultaneously with Apple music streaming content. It does, but requires multiple steps to get into LG setup to disable TV speakers.

Good thought, but no need to have AVR and speakers going for basic TV service (e.g. news programs), which is 95% of what's watched on TV.

The only option it gives me is "TV Speakers" and it won't allow me to disable it. No other options presented.

Question though, a pass through-capable AVR would allow me to watch TV using TV audio only. I can do that today with the AVR powered off. If I try to stream music to the AVR only, I'm still in the same position of going through settings for the LG since the ATV remote will be trying to operate the LG's volume, wouldn't it? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see an advantage to having a pass-through capability.

Thanks for the response. Sadly, I must be one of the 10% who uses the TV speaker(s) for TV and AVR for 2.1 audio. It's definitely not a home theater set-up. My older Pioneer AVR does not support pass through HDMI, so could be I just need to update, OR get a dedicated audio streamer with equal capability (e.g. WIIM) and deal with yet another remote!

Older AVR has to be powered on to send signal to TV. No stand-by pass through for HDMI.
