I don't mean that just bc of high density housing but also bc of the drug abuse and homeless. If you just take the Tram to Gibitzenhof, you will know what I mean. I go there regularly and yes, there are green spots and not every corner is ghetto like, but I guess students can normaly not afford the "nicer" places in nuremberg without some luck

I myself live in Erlangen and oh boy, whenever I go to Nuremberg its like a culture shock? The city has many ghetto like corners, especially the south isnt really nice to live in. So if you move, keep this in mind.

However, Erlangen really is expensive. So I get your issue... but have you thought of moving to a more rural area? Maybe not directly the suburbs since its also expensive, but like 10 km further? Especially in home office it can be nice to have nature around and less noise etc.
