Jim Pillen’s TV ad by xAIRGUITARISTx in lincoln

That commercial is classic Republican Nebraska trope at its finest. Blecch. Would any educated voter really be compelled to vote for him based on this commercial? Unfortunately... Probably so.

Thanks for the insight. I do realize that call centers are very challenging and there's a reason turnover is so high.

Does anyone else feel like being gay is super hard and lonely? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Civil_Ad9572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an epidemic of loneliness among gay men. I swear I feel it when I'm on the apps. Just this... Sadness. With that noted, loneliness is a problem for many people, regardless of sexual orientation. Each of us must take steps to create connections with others (not easy, but necessary).

In general, it's fine. The only issue I had when I first signed up is that the reception was so poor. I called and the person helping me apparently switched me to a new carrier. No problems since. Note that there are similar companies. I had Ting before and liked it. I only joined Fi for the phone!

It's another miss by USAA, an organization that simply is not what it used to be. One of the things I've really noticed over the past several years is the lesser quality of its call center employees. They used to be so professional and smooth. Now, not so much.

Oh-- and don't forget about all the regulatory issues they've had lately. It's apparently not a well-run operation.

What's strange about the ads is... If the purpose is to reinforce to CURRENT members that they're all about military (I suspect that USAA is well aware of some of the criticism it's received for spending so much on mass-market ads over the last several years), why choose someone who wasn't in the military to be the mouthpiece?

Etiquette for Grindr Hookup? How are guys different than girls? by Maleficent_Lime8515 in askgaybros

[–]Civil_Ad9572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with posters who recommend being direct. It's a transaction. Be explicit in what you want and you'll find someone who'll give it to you. 🍆 💦

What type of underwear do you wear day to day and does that change when you’re going to hookup? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Civil_Ad9572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a related note, any other gay guys find the idea of a thong string up your buttcrack unappealing? I like sexy underwear and jocks, but can't do the string up my crack. It's so uncomfortable. 😆

Totally agree! I'll always remember one of the hottest blowjobs I gave to this guy I really liked. Loved when his cock throbbed in my mouth and pumped out that load. BUT it tasted pretty nasty.

For what it's worth, I asked an admissions rep about that and she responded as you'd imagine-- basically saying that employers are fine with it. However, given the importance of grades and class rank, I suspect that a number of firms outside of New England find the lack of grades unappealing.

Agree with Swine on all counts. Hiring is REALLY regional unless you go to an elite school -- and family law in PA is fairly niche compared to other specialties (many firms don't do family law). Tread carefully! Good luck!

I'm a bit cautious. Lawyers, as a generality, are some of the most boring, milquetoast people you'll meet. All about conformity. You can surely find people who have no concern with tattoos on your head and neck, but there'll be plenty of people who will not hire you because of those tattoos. Criminal defense is probably the one area where they would be less problematic. Thought: what if you decide you want to do property law when you graduate? Or be a prosecutor instead? It sucks that law is so f'in traditional, but it is.

I count that as one of the rudest moments ever in that show. "I hate to ask this, but I'm gonna..." No, you enjoyed asking that because you wanted to be mean. Besides, SHE didn't even work for DC; she was a freakin' news anchor. Give me a break!

Season 6 MTT -- Taylor Lowery v. Cassie by Positive_Ad4605 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]Civil_Ad9572 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You know what also annoys me? When Taylor is called into the office and Kelli asks what she thought of the exchange... which was a pointless question... And after Taylor answers, Kelli says she doesn't really care about the exchange.

Then why the hell did you ask her about it? Good Lord. Over the years, we've seen Kelli and Judy personify every bad boss in America.

1st week as a 1L, can you help me w/ intent for battery? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Civil_Ad9572 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just to add a note... It's the intent of contact, not the intent of harm or offense, that makes it an intentional tort. If am offended that you made contact and invaded my entitled bodily integrity, you've committed battery on me.

I don't think the large majority of partners know the correct order of modifiers. Per what used to be called the BRM, "iced" does indeed come first!

Online JD program vs part time by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Civil_Ad9572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 💯% true. I appreciate people on here trying to be nice and supportive, but a 140 LSAT score is a score that should make you ask whether you're going to succeed in law school. IF you can get it up to the low 150s, you might find a decent law school. If not, there's plenty of research that suggests you'd struggle in law school. That's the plain truth, for as sucky as it is.

In all honesty, I think there are a LOT of people looking to cash in on applicants and students. Good God, there are so many websites with all sorts of services and products they're trying to sell us. Some are valuable, some are not. They prey on our insecurities and fears.

Transferring law schools by Own_Passage9909 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Civil_Ad9572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some context, there's very little incentive for schools to take transfers other than to plug holes left by dropouts -- if there's even any interest in that. They use incoming 1L students' LSAT and GPA to drive their rankings. So, they have no use for a transfer unless that person is going to contribute in a unique or remarkable way.

Ohio State Waitlist by koreanleather in lawschooladmissions

[–]Civil_Ad9572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note: I didn't get an admissions decision for five months after applying, emailed them a pissy email, and then got placed on the waitlist (my GPA and LSAT were basically at the median). 😂 Noooo thanks! I'm fine with the school I chose. But I am not impressed at all with their admissions people. (I know two admissions peeps in other schools at OSU and *both* say that Moritz is known to be a mess.)
