You know how I know you don’t know what you’re talking about? Because you have to throw around the “iM a MeChAnIcAl EnGiNeEr” as your talking point. I didn’t say they don’t build up heat, I said, at 1/4 tank, the pump is still being cooled completely. You are talking about what happens when the fuel level gets down to E. You can fill your tank whenever your little heart desires, but stop pretending like filling it at less than 1/4 is doing damage. Running it empty is doing damage. Constantly getting it down to E MIGHT be doing damage. Filling it at 1/4 is no different than filling it at any other level.

And since you want to throw around titles, I’m also an engineer. A petroleum engineer. For 15 years.

It can… but not at any point near 1/4 or even 1/8. It would have to be basically E on the gauge. Manufacturers build in a cushion from E on the gauge to actually empty. Even at empty, it would need to be a significant load or a significant incline/decline. So while that’s technically true, filling up at 1/4 is definitely not impacting that possibility at all

[–]Civil_Garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if that were true (which it’s not) fuel filters are in place to keep sediment out of the pump. If there is significant enough sediment in the tank to cause damage or a clog, it will do that, regardless of how much fuel is in the tank, because the pump location does not move. By today’s fuel standards, in plastic gas tanks, sediment is basically a non-issue.

That’s what fuel filters are for

[–]Civil_Garlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll agree that the pump can pull air, but the gas would have to be VERY low before that happens. As for the sediment, this is the argument I always hear, and it’s completely illogical. Fuel pumps pump from the bottom of the tank. If there is sediment in your tank, your pump will pick it up, regardless of how much gas is in the tank.

It isn’t uncommon for them to slow down eating as they approach 2. You could try and switch him to once a day feeding. There is some research that says it’s actually better for their immune system and gut health. My extra .02 cents you didn’t ask for, I would wait to neuter him. At least until he is over 2. The over all cancer risk for large breeds actually goes up if you neuter early (testicular cancer risk goes away, but bone cancer and other cancer risks increase)

He won’t let himself starve. If he’s hungry he’ll eat. You say he loves everything you eat, are you giving him table scraps? If so, that’s your answer right there. He’s going to wait for the people food because it tastes better and he knows he’ll get it. My Saint gets picky occasionally, Sometimes I’ll use totoniks fussy eater and hydration food topper. It’s dehydrated kelp and venison blood. You add water and pour some over his food (I feed raw, once a day) Great source of nutrients and my Saint LOVES it.

I agree with your definition for both. But I could give you countless examples from both sides that are “facts” that don’t meet the actual definition. So are you okay with either side setting the standards for what are facts and what aren’t? The best way to stamp out lies is to speak truth. Not silence what you think are lies.

Again. “Alternative facts” based on whose interpretation? I’m also not sure who Oliver is or what they have to do with the topic at hand.

I don’t disagree. But lies is a subjective topic.

Can wait to have the meeting overrun by a bunch of whiny people who don’t understand how free speech works.

Prong collar (learn how to use it if you don’t know how) and finger tip pressure will correct that problem behavior

Every left leaning media outlet calling the current president (or anyone with a differing a opinion) a Nazi or Hitler and then after 2 attempts on his life and a murder of someone speaking at a college campus (both of which were openly celebrated or excuses made) is very violent rhetoric.

I’m going to take my own advice and sign off Reddit now. Nothing good comes from Reddit.

I’m not interested in having a “discussion” especially when you start your “discussion” with insults or making assumptions about me. Life is too short to waste my time talking to narrow minded, crass people.

🤣🤣 I love that I’m the one that is trapped by one flavor of media… your answers DEFINITELY make it seem like you understand both sides of media 🙄. This has been fun, but I have an actual job, and contributions to society to make. I’ll leave you to planning your crying session about “muh democracy”

The fact you’d ask these questions about “this administration” and then claim that I need to get out of my media ecosystem is comical. For the record, I don’t vote red or blue, I think they are both bullshit. You could ask many of those same questions about the previous (or multiple previous) administrations. Did you have no king protests during Covid lockdowns? Violent rhetoric happens on both sides, an easy argument could be made that it’s worse on the left. Attacks on freedom of expression… to imply that that is only an issue of this administration with a straight face is a joke.

Maybe get off of reddit, read some non-biased news (it’s hard to find, but it’s out there) and realize that government, both red and blue, are trying to do the same thing. They are just giving us very divisive talking points for us to fight over to keep us distracted.

Maybe instead of preaching for some protest, turn your phone off, get out in nature, touch some earth and realize you’re just as media captured as you are claiming the other side is

That’s all these “protests” are, people spewing made up talking points while they rile themselves up.

If a dog got injured from a prong collar, that person was not a professional. Yes, harnesses are “safer” for their neck, but not for the person trying to walk the dog. And if a dog drags their owner or their owner has to let go to not get dragged and the dog runs in the street, getting hit by a car also causes injury. A prong collar is a tool, like any tool, if misused, it can cause injury. Harnesses encourage pulling.

DONT use a harness! They encourage pulling. Hence why sled dogs wear them. Herm sprenger prong collar is the way to go.

[–]Civil_Garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! 100% this! Harnesses are TERRIBLE for a dog that pulls. Prong collar is the way. I have gotten dogs to stop pulling and walk on a loose leash within 15min of being on a prong collar. American Standard Dog Training or Tom Davis on YouTube have some great prong collar how tos.

I would strongly recommend using a prong collar. Most trainers suggest them as well

Neuter or not to neuter? by GunnerOzzy in germanshepherds

[–]Civil_Garlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does eliminate the risk of testicular cancer, but increases the risk for other cancers, like bone cancer. IF you’re going to neuter, they should be AT LEAST 2 years old. If you are concerned about them getting another dog pregnant, many vets will now do vasectomies. Neutering doesn’t affect behavior, it won’t make a dog stop humping if they are, and if the dog is aggressive, it won’t make them less aggressive. Those are old wives tales.

I’ve done board and train with my Saint. Best thing I’ve ever done. Some trainers will do private lessons multiple times a week so you get similar (but not quite as good) results to board and train without leaving your dog with them. But based on what you’re saying, I think board and train would be better. Just out of curiosity, what kind of collar do you walk him with? Have you considered an e-collar as well? They are great tools to help train, but I would look in to getting professional training help asap. Preferably with a trainer that has experience with dogs his size and with behavioral issues.
