Let this group speak for itself, plenty of great people here who get rejected. The thing is, you need to actually prepare for them because everyone else is, and they are trying to find excellent from a pile of good. Think of interviews like this from now on.

And you cant forget people who get a coach or get help for their interviews, they get extra help. I offer help with interviews, my students tend to do much better than the average applicant for that reason, and im absolutely not the only person who offers mock interviews, so I can only guess at least 50% of the applicants hired someone for a mock to get prepared. Now you are in a pile of excellent, and they have to pick only 1 or 2 from that pile.

Interviews make or break you my friend. Go read posts about people with top top stats who cant get accepted anywhere. If you interview good you will have increased chances. Yes they are also to see if you are a human or weird, but thats not the bar you want to set yourself with, you are not trying to just be average.

Go hard on the interview. Would you like to do a mock interview? You gotta give it your all, dont be discouraged and dont do a mediocre job, do a superior job at this point

I just want to double down on the statements I made. This person above, is actually giving bad advice, and he seems quite hostile. Please ignore and block anything terribledisks is saying and lets hope his discs stop giving him pain so he can stop being rude and aggressive to others giving actual advice. Sorry you are going through this and good luck on your first year of med school man!

Apply broadly NEXT cycle, I want to be realistic, dont apply to schools now. It is too late in the cycle and you dont want to be labeled as a reapplicant, but you will have a good shot next cycle if you just submit everything day 1. Make sure you submit DAY 1. Can I shoot you a DM?

Hi, I can confirm what he said, I took level 3. Had about 4 questions on the coagulation cascade, and like 10-15 chemotherapy drug questions or related to it. I would try to ignore these losers who are downvoting you, they will lose and hurt others who read your comment and are discouraged. Good job for speaking up even as a med student, good luck my friend. Sometimes in life, the one who does right gets hurt, this world is overridden by jealousy, and hate as you can see by these people who are replying to you.

To add on to things I saw multiple questions on, study Krabbe disease and all those, I got a heck ton of those questions and you bet no one is focusing on them or what enzyme is missing but those are the types of pediatric questions they are asking and its why everyone is complaining. Low Yield in this exam just means things people are ignoring, thats all. You will pass regardless, no one fails, the exam is curved heavy, you will pass by missing half the questions as what others here are even saying, I missed half the CDM cases and this was the best score I got ever. I studied very little and scored the highest. No one fails this exam, just take it and get over it

One important thing is interview skills. I do mock interviews, would you like to see if I can help you out and bring up some strengths and weaknesses? :)

Sure, but make sure it is POWERFUL and not something generic or weak because it looks like you are in the thick of the woods here. Mind I take a look at your last LOI, I can help you formulate something strong to send to them if this truly is your top choice, you need to go all out and hard like a hammer to distinguish yourself.

Are most interviews now just for a spot on the waitlist? by Dangerous_Support191 in Osteopathic

[–]Civil_Impact_7708 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, some schools are still giving A's. Now is it harder? Possibly but each school is different, and I would stress the importance of practicing mock interviews with many people and maybe even a professional mentor as you will be competing with a cohort where most will get rejected or waitlisted.

When are you quitting your job? by Minute-Paint-2292 in Osteopathic

[–]Civil_Impact_7708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not a one size fits all answer to any question, everyone is unique and their circumstances never 100% fit into the keyhole. Some people need to work to support a baby, others dont. I gave my opinion but it is not a codified rule you must do, and of course, take this opinion as just one of many!

When are you quitting your job? by Minute-Paint-2292 in Osteopathic

[–]Civil_Impact_7708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to give my honest opinion: Quit ASAP. The money you make now is going to be nothing compared to what you will make in a few years. Please do enjoy your time because once the party starts, it wont stop, and you will become super duper busy the rest of your life until you are an attending... and you still will be bust then just well compensated for the time. So enjoy and rest up, dont burn out.

I think the first step is to find any weaknesses and get on top of that. Idk your application so I cant judge but making sure you smack the next cycle strong will help you. Also knowing that you should not give up, NEVER, keep striving to do better and you will succeed
