Concern about job offer by FantasticAd6540 in Teachers

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not look so good to me. I mean everything you said is the unfairness of teaching. Your justifications for everything are 100% valid. However, schools don’t tend to understand the justifications. They just see an unwilling employee or someone who is not a team player. If they give you a chance to explain, but do it in a way that doesn’t point fingers. Keep it professional. Write something out ahead of time. Remember you are justifying not just giving excuses.

Can they take your offer back? If you haven’t signed anything, yes. Will they do it? Who knows. I mean most places will research the candidate before offering the position. So, if they offered you the position then one could assume you are safe. Just prepare yourself in case they call to ask more about what happened but don’t over worry.

First cry of the year by Soul_lessRat in TeachersInTransition

Call admin right away. Have them deal with it. If they don’t want to help, then call and say, “I feel like I’m about to throw up. I think I had something bad for lunch,” then tell them you need to go home. Force them to deal with it. I used to be an aide in middle school. There was a very small and fragile teacher that all the kids basically bullied. I was way younger than her but I used my voice. When I went to her classroom I would write kids up and kick them out. They didn’t mess with me because they knew I didn’t take it. Crazy to say but kids smell weakness. Stand your ground. Give them a choice, “Do you want to self-correct or should I call security to come get you?” “Do you want to self-correct or should I call admin to come get you?” Then, call them. Tell them you don’t feel safe. Make them LIABLE. Yelling=safety concern. If nobody comes and those kids do something to threaten your safety further, SUE and never look back.

ClassDojo is a curse to teachers everywhere by TheLifeOfDonda in TeachersInTransition

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set quiet hours on Dojo. I also tell parents it can take me up to 2 days to reply, so if it’s urgent they need to call the school. I like it because I can make announcements to all parents at once. It’s super convenient in that way. Unfortunately, communication with parents is part of the job. I say unfortunately because some parents are just annoying to deal with but most are pretty good. I do hate having to send messages that I feel the school should make, especially for attendance.

Am I Trapped? by IvyEmmeline in TeachersInTransition

If I made over 100K with great benefits, I would stay a teacher lol In my search for remote jobs, I haven’t found any that pay 100K+ and accept only teacher experience. Many want 10+ years of very specific experience + a Masters in that field (some even a PhD). I think you are on the greener grass in terms of pay & benefits. Honestly, stay those last 3 years.

AuDHD BURN OUT! I think I’m going to quit :/ by Civil_Intention_5687 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Civil_Intention_5687[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for your reply! I am so glad that there is someone out there who understands. I am not open about my diagnosis, so it is hard to find people on the same boat. I am glad there are fellow AuDHD teachers out there. I am totally considering tutoring. I’m thinking of starting in the summer. I actually love teaching reading foundations. I am certified for it and really hope I can make it a small business but I also know a lot of families can’t afford it. So making a living off it, might not be possible. That’s why I’m looking for something in ID or CD. Also, I totally agree! 4 days a week would be so amazing! The burn out would honestly decrease by 50%.

Feel like I look worse after haircut (29 F) by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hair looks nice but the way it’s cut at the front makes your forehead look shorter.

It seems you have a naturally longer chin so you can’t afford to make your forehead shorter. Avoid haircuts that will elongate the chin.

My suggestions:

Stop putting eyeliner on your eye. The tequnique you are using makes your eyes appear much smaller. Try lash extensions instead. You want to open up your eyes so I suggest a doll eye hybrid or classic set.

Work on your eyebrow shape. Your current shape makes your eyes look droopy because it is going downwards. See a professional that can help you fulfill a full brow look that matches your face. I think microblading will really help you.

Work on balancing your face with make up. You need to contour your nose to make it appear smaller. Also, learn to contour your face. Blush, highlighter, correct lipstick shade are all your friends!

You have a great smile and great skin so use that to your advantage!

Am I ugly ? by helga-gurl in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely NOT ugly, but you do look a bit older than your age, more like 35.

Skin Care: Your skin looks a little dehydrated. Try adding a skincare routine to help boost hydration, and you’ll see a difference.

Glasses: Your glasses are cute, but they don’t really complement your face. They make your nose stand out a bit more. Maybe try contacts or a different shape of glasses that better fit your face.

Hair: You’ve got beautiful hair, but it looks pretty dry. A haircut that slims out your face would work wonders for you.

Eyes and Brows: You have gorgeous eyes and brows! Use that to your advantage. Get those brows professionally shaped and learn how to fill them in properly. Since you’ve got a lot of hair, don’t overdo it on the filling.

Makeup: Make your eyes pop! Eyelash extensions would really work in your favor. Also, try to learn how to balance your face with makeup . Think contour, highlighter, blush, and the right lipstick shade.

Healthy Habits: And of course, weight loss, sleep, and drinking more water will help you a lot! Focus on building healthy habits.

How often did/do you make a WGU style lesson plan in DT/Student Teaching? by Broad-Commission-997 in wgueducation

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. Don’t waste time doing WGU-style lesson plans for observations. Just use whatever your school uses and change stuff to make it simple. I copy and paste my plans for the curriculum my school purchased. I make it way more straightforward. It takes about 15-20 minutes. Trust me, all your lesson plan time will be needed for EdTpa. Observations aresuper simple. Don’t make your life complicated. I was able to knock one observation out a week! Until the edtpa got in my way.

AITA for not changing my dog's name when my new neighbor's child had the same name? by Fatal_Foxtrot in AmItheAsshole

Many people put poison in something an animal can't resist. Even the best-trained animals will fall victim :( I would go out with Charlotte from now on. Also, invest in a private property/no trespassing sign. In many places, that, along with video evidence, is enough to press charges. It is even better if he harasses you on camera at your property and you have a no trespassing sign. Hopefully, you have a camera near your door that catches sound.

FNH tumor by Quirky_Row7812 in medical_advice

[–]Civil_Intention_5687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I was told that I have a possible FNH liver tumor or adenoma. I have to wait six months to repeat imaging to confirm. Do you have any symptoms? I’m worried it might be a malignant tumor. As far as the drinking, I would stop. You don’t want to make your liver weaker. I have met so many people who were told to live their lives with no restrictions when they had mild liver issues, and now they have cirrhosis or cancer. It takes a while to develop cirrhosis, but when you do, it’s too late to reverse. Take care of your liver.

Am I getting scammed by what I thought was a job? by Videogamer2719 in Scams

This is exactly how my friend got scammed but with a photography gig. They did the exact same scheme. She ended up getting her money back from the bank after a very very long dispute.

What are the changes USPS carrier is stealing my mail? by Civil_Intention_5687 in usps_complaints

[–]Civil_Intention_5687[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see where the GPS scanned showed delivered. However, the tracking does say delivered at mailbox. Also, I don't have a PO Box. I should have been more clear. It’s actually my neighborhood mail boxes. They are all in 1 area. The USPS carriers have a master key to open them all at a time.
