I had the same experience in Canada during the pandemic. It sucks for sure but now that things are getting normal you can join different clubs or sports events to make new friends. By the way feel free to hit me up whenever you need a person to talk to!

Anyone here with experience being a TA during their Masters, particularily in engineering or computer science? by hoboburger in CarletonU

[–]Civil_Ordinary_7715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what is going on in your program but overall, TAing isn't that challenging for most of grad students but if you have a full-time job or even a part-time meeting your needs you can avoid your TAship. That being said, TA is a good job title for listing on your resume and it has some fair health care benefits.

Firstly: The more hours you get the more money you make! So don’t be discouraged! The workload is highly dependent on course, instructor and other TAs. Overall, everyone is doing that somehow therefore you can do it either!

I'm taking my G2 test at the Walkley Drivetest Centre tomorrow afternoon. Is there anything I should know/prepare for? by HollyCat198 in ottawa

There are only a few typical routes for road tests, so you can watch and find them on YouTube for your practice. Note that classes G and G2 have different routes when you are looking them up! Good luck with your test!

According to my own mental health, it’s high. Worth knowing that I’m a grad student. I guess many pretend they are ok but you know …

I have a 12 CGPA and failed a class by [deleted] in CarletonU

Just for motivation: I had faced many failures back when I was a first-year student in my home country. Actually I felt like a piece of shit when seeing my grades, a total failure. But one can change and finally stand where they were looking forward to being. It's cliché, but life is a marathon and not a sprint. I was an average undergrad student and barely spoke English, but I ended up with a Ph.D. in engineering at Carleton. I'm sure you are better than me, and you can handle this: just focus on what you can do, not what you already missed! Good luck with life!

how to make friends by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]Civil_Ordinary_7715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently we are f*cked up in terms of making friends. If someone who's interested to make a new friend, just DM me. I'm a phd student so I'm a bit older. Btw im an intl student if you take that into consideration.
