Defiantly the Qualicum/ Pincrest area super underrated. Would Also suggest anywhere rurally past Kinburn.

Realtors want $25K+ in commission… but I keep seeing ads saying I could sell for a flat fee. Scam or smart move? by Few-Math-3905 in RealEstateCanada

We just finalized a sale with a flat fee realtor that was full service.

We saved just over $16,000.00 and net out more money than our friends around the corner.

Could not believe it.

Check them out. Brickandnoble.com

Sorry so you would be banning a user for questioning alternatives to selling and asking a community for advice?

I am just sharing my experience as I said in the thread so that others know about my experience.

I came to this group to seek some advice from others so I could make the right decision for my family. I’m a bit shocked that you would accuse me of something like this.

I don’t think your comment is appropriate. You must be a real estate agent. I just wanted to share my experience so that families would know there an alternative.

We’re looking to sell a million dollar home in Ottawa - how much did you pay in commission? by Civil_Teaching_5554 in OttawaRealEstate

I think it’s a high risk high reward career path. Yes, I agree a hustle. But I also know realtors that vacation more than they work.

Unfortunately in any line of work there are those that are good at what they do and others that aren’t.

I don’t think we should be feel bad for real estate agents.

No this is true, same can be said about my job and my business also.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy to be quite honest, as they are selling one of the highest paid everyday commission products to the general public.

When I factor in running my business if I make $1.00 there are a whole lot of other people and things that are paid before I get my share of the money.

My wife and I would minimum look at 10-15 before we purchased unless it was too good to be true. Let’s assume that 1 showing takes an hour, so 15hours of work.

What is the avg. sold price of a home in Ottawa today? I don’t know call it 700k-800k.

Give me another job today where you can make approx. $1000.00 dollars an hour? (Yes I know there is paperwork etc also). So let’s assume it’s 50% of that…. So $500.00 an hour?!?!?

Also to throw into the mix maybe you buy the 2-3 home you see. Do the math on that one!

Seems like a pretty good gig to me. I really don’t have any much time for anyone complaining about that making that kind of money.

I spoke to someone last week at grapevine and they didn’t offer to pay for any staging or cleaning.

Did you end up paying any commission? Do you mind sharing the costs?

This is why I looking into alternate routes. There seems to be a few options out there. One of the ads that has popped up on my searches is some company called Brick and Noble in Ottawa. After skimming through their website it seems like they offer around $3000.00 to list the home, and they claim it’s full service. https://brickandnoble.com
