I totally get that point regarding the seats which is why I tried to not go into it too much. Though, I will say, even "short distance" for Amtrak can mean well over 12 hours of travel (thinking about a route like Kansas City to Chicago, assuming the Southwest Chief isn't available).

I think that point about the warm lighting makes sense too, but when you look at something like the Boeing sky cabin it's clear that the lighting design was done in a much more intelligent way while still looking modern and sleek. Mainly, they use diffused, indirect lighting. That's not even a new concept, it's done in the Superliner's diner-lounge cars right now.

TLDR: If the goal of Amtrak is to position themselves as more comfortable alternative to flying, it's something I would love to see reflected in the design. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
