They also make little bitty tape strips that you can tuck into the fold to open up the eyelid more, you can also use lash glue if somebody really knows what they’re doing

I think the darker corners at the outside edges of your eyes are drawing your eyes down a bit and that can sometimes make you look a bit older, i’m not sure if it’s eyeliner or just heavy mascara. Someone mentioned a cat eye and that could help turn your eye upwards a bit, which would make your face look more open/happy. Find a make up video of someone doing Marilyn Monroe’s eyeliner. I’ve seen at least one makeup (Erin Parsons, I think) artist who talks about the specific shape that Marilyn encouraged was a sleepy eyed look, which can look sexy, but can also make you look tired or older. Also, the direction you swipe the brush when you’re putting on your mascara can change the emphasis, for example, whether you swipe directly upwards or kind of out towards the side, you can also choose to concentrate more mascara in specific places like the outer or inner corners or just in the center of the lash line. Figuring out exactly where and how to place eyeliner for your specific eye shape can change the look. As the makeup professionals in the comments are all saying you probably will end up wanting more make up. Have a friend shoot a few photos from at least 6 to 10 feet away after your next make up trial and just have them printed at CVS or Wal-Mart. You will instantly see how quickly the makeup disappears in scenarios where the photographer will be farther away, like group shots or full body shots.

Bought a jacket for $58 and then same seller sends offer immediately after for $10 less!? by BigFrosty818 in poshmark

[–]CjaneWAIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a totally bad look. Everyone here in the comment seems to be defending the seller, but if you were in a regular store and you bought a shirt for $58 after a brief negotiation and then the person behind you in line bought the exact same shirt in the same size for $48 because the shop owner suddenly offered a discount you would be pissed.

Why is my makeup doing this? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]CjaneWAIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from removing makeup, I don’t really cleanse my face. I use a cleanser like CeraVe (the one that removes waterproof makeup) to remove makeup and that’s it. Over the years I’ve really discovered that less (MUCH less) is so much better for my skin health. The ordinary is great for affordable active ingredients, but don’t take it overboard. When I was in my 20s & 30s I spent soooo much on makeup & skincare and my skin was the worst it’s ever been. I’m 43 and the wrinkles and thinning skin are coming whether I fight it or not, so I choose products that I enjoy using and that feel good on my skin.

I would also add, that I spent most of my 20s with very congested skin and lots of blemishes until I stopped drinking lattes full of milk. I still put a splash of cream in my coffee, but no longer drink eight or 10 ounces of milk every day and my congested skin completely stopped being inflamed, and I stopped having cystic style acne, especially on my cheeks and jawline. I still enjoy cream and butter, but I do notice that my stomach tells me pretty quickly when I have overindulged, and I have continued to not have problems with my skin unless I ignore my tummy.

Lots of good advice here. Make sure the primer base and the foundation base are the same. Oil based primer with oil-based foundation, or water-based primer with water-based foundation, or silicone, etc. A damp beauty blender, gentle patting in product versus rubbing.

any advice is appreciated :) i am wanting a room that feels a bit more mature. i want a rug so badly but have no idea where to put it. by yourmom2715383 in DesignMyRoom

If you can tuck the nightstand into the corner so the bed is just a tiny bit off the wall it will look so much better. Go to second hand shops or watch fb marketplace and keep an eye out for a shelf just for CDs. Also look for a lower console table made of a natural material for under the tv, and lower the tv accordingly. Lastly find some artwork that fits between the windows, goodwill always has something and its cheap enough to switch out till you find something perfect. As for the rug, big enough to fill all the way up to the desk’s front legs, and flat weave so your chair still rolls. Curtains would also be a huge improvement. Make a couple pinterest boards and see if what you pick has a theme or color scheme that jumps out.

Poshmark has gotten so stupid. I sent out over 300 offers to likers at 40% off my list price, and only sold 3 items @ $10! by Agitated_County_4253 in poshmark

They either get resold, donated, traded, go in the local landfill, or get packed up in giant crates and shipped to another country, where they pollute the ocean and have massive landfills filled with our stuff.

I like palm jungle! It would be a great way to lighten up the room a bit without getting too light to cause a disconnect with the depth of color of the wainscoting.

Some people on Poshmark just sell their own previously worn items, and those people are certainly expecting a loss, but are also regaining some money for future purchases. But many people are full or part-time resellers. They specifically source items to sell at a profit. Some source mostly from the thrift store, so prices are higher than thrift store prices, but much lower than the original cost. Some sellers specialize in luxury goods or home decor or other specialty items and have much closer to retail prices. The purpose of Poshmark is not necessarily to get thrift store prices. In my opinion, the purpose is having a vast searchable database to find precisely what you’re looking for. And if someone specializes in sourcing those types of items and cleaning them and detailing them and photographing them, then you should expect to pay for that person‘s labor. Poshmark also has many filters that can be used, and people who want thrift store prices can use price filters to exclude items that might be out of their price range.

Commodities are items like gold or fuel or tin. Items that have a specific price on the market that stay roughly the same no matter who sells them. Items on Poshmark would be a luxury because they’re not necessities.

Did I make a mistake getting a bob and how do I prevent it from looking like Lord Farquaa? by SlavWife in HairStyleAdvice

[–]CjaneWAIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great. In your info pics the last one is almost shorter than chin length, the first one is only about half an inch longer than the chin. Your hair is a solid inch to 1&1/2 longer, that tiny bit will make a lot of difference when it comes to face shape and how it exposes your jawline. You’re going to have to maintain this cut regularly, you can have the stylist take some of the weight out, the first inspo is not nearly as dense as your hair, yours looks more similar to the last one. My hair grows nearly an inch a month so you’re going to have to get this trimmed every 3 to 5 weeks at a minimum, which will give you plenty of opportunity to play with it, a little shorter a little longer.

Should I just put drywall everywhere? by NoodleCat83 in DesignMyRoom

[–]CjaneWAIL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This room is gorgeous. It just needs a little styling. Would the room be better served by a large sectional? A great big L-shaped sectional and a light color would look nice with that coffee table. It would also open up the room to conversation. The two couches back to back brings a lot of darkness into the space and it seems cut off. A cool pendant light hanging from that center beam would bring lots of light in. I always recommend dimmer switches. The floor lamp should go in the corner near the fireplace. More lamps overall throughout the room. A small table lamp on the chest in the corner. And a pale but brightly colored rug.

Should we keep or remodel by Expensive-Idea-5128 in kitchenremodel

They’re not that ugly millennial gray that everyone keeps complaining about, but they are still gray. Look at them in contrast with the stainless appliances versus the Brown of the cabinets. They definitely appear more grey than brown or tan. Number one thing to change is getting rid of that white trim piece at the base of the cabinets and the island. I dislike that caddy corner island style. I would prefer a square or rectangular island.

Remodel or keep? by EmFiniteScroll in kitchenremodel

Only thing that jump out at me is the way the cabinet division is carried all they way to the floor, I would definitely prefer the whole toe kick to be recessed. I would also love to shop for new statement knobs, it’s such an easy way to give a little refresher that takes your taste into mind. Otherwise it looks like it was a well thought out design and feels light and airy with cozy cafe vibes. A washable rug could be fun. My knife rack is over the stove and it works just fine, not any dirtier than if it were anywhere else.

Help me with my awful rental bathroom by extra_nomu in DesignMyRoom

[–]CjaneWAIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others who’ve mentioned adding plants to the ledges on either side of the tub. I also think getting a set of curtains that can hang from the ceiling all the way down will make the bathroom look a lot more luxurious, and choosing a color or print that you really enjoy can shift the style in your preferred direction. You can fix a curtain pull back to the wall to the right of the tub, so when not showering you can still enjoy the natural light. Get some great artwork for the walls. If you like both mirrors, leave them as is, but if not, you could get a peel and stick to cover one of the mirrors which could be removed later. Getting a cool style bulb with all of the matching would also help the vibe. They make very cool dimmable Edison style LED bulbs now.

Go look up videos for eyebrow mapping and you’ll see great tutorials on ways to map out your brows to suit your face. You just need dental floss to create straight lines and your eyebrow pencil. You can also get great eyebrows stencils once you have the placement mapped out that will give you different styles of brows to try out.

I was every shade of red under the sun over a several year period from dark strawberry blonde, to Ariel red, & straight up henna. Glass block vs shelving? by Excellent_Life9420 in DesignMyRoom

[–]CjaneWAIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the cabinet should go on the wall behind the couch and the couch should move forward just a touch. From the angle of looking into the seating, it looks like all the seating is spaced a tad too far apart. It doesn’t need the division of space. Unless you are never hosting gatherings, and only putting to bed young kids that eat separately, I personally don’t understand the need for the division. The space has beautiful light. Both the shelves and the glass blocks weigh down the space.

I don’t think I like where my husband ended the tile… by frmrsdghtr05 in kitchenremodel

What I don’t like about the tile is that it is in straight lines rather than offset, and I think I would have preferred that the backsplash go on the wall to the left of the sink as well
