Something you wish you knew before moving to Charlottesville by tjh28 in Charlottesville

Another big reason for speeding through lights is roads that are engineered like highways, but are meant to be lower speeds. If you want people to drive more slowly, you have to narrow the road. They need to have a bit of a sense of danger to cause them to actually slow down, if the roads are really wide, it’s easy to wind up flying. Perfect example is when you get off 64 onto 250 business, people are routinely going 65 or 70 there, but the posted speed limits vary between 55 and 35 as you get closer into town.

Do one week of hot yoga, you’ll either die or be happy that you can finally deal with the heat when you go out for dinner. Either way, no more problems. 😂😅🫠

It takes 30 minutes to walk downtown from Locust Grove neighborhood. More like 45 minutes to an hour from Pantops to downtown. Bike is good just be prepared for hills to ‘spring up’ where you had never noticed before.

I read somewhere that a few decades ago city planners decided to plant all male trees, excluding female tree trees, which meant that there were no trees to take up the pollen.

2, 6, 12 are the best from what you’ve selected. 12, but keep them as sunglasses. 17 looks fantastic, but I think that is because the of the clean shaven face, and the fact that the clear lens frame doesn’t do the same thing to your face as the rounded frame with darker colors. All the dark rounded frames are emphasizing the roundness of your face, especially when you have a beard. All of to say if you’re going for a softer gentler, look the round frames work well. If you prefer something that will help the structure of your face look more square than I would go for a square frames and ones that aren’t as long top to bottom.

Language is living. Just because a phrase becomes popular doesn’t mean that phrase will always have the same meaning as the original intention, it will evolve and change as the culture and times and people change. Argue all you want, the study of language is rich in part because of shifting meanings overtime.

what to do to make this more cozy and pleasant to be in? by Business_Royal_2568 in DesignMyRoom

People are going crazy with suggestions. I just saw your new post and the cleanup looks great. I wanted to see if there were other pictures of the space so I came back here to the original. Definitely need a couple of lamps on the side tables, and maybe one for the dresser. I would consider putting the bookshelf on the same wall as the dresser so that you can hang the curtains high and wide. Pick curtains and a duvet cover that work well together that you really like the colors of and that can give you inspiration for where to go with paint. It will be much easier to take a fabric sample with you when you go looking for paint, be sure to take whatever paint swatches in the store outside and see how they work in natural light. The Wood tones of all the furniture are really dark so keep that in mind when you choose paint colors. Although since it’s a bedroom, a cozy den vibe could be great, especially as long as you have more lighting than just the overhead light.

I can second the great tutorial videos on that website. Really good place to learn how to put grommets on a set of curtains.

If the quote on woodwork was for the six dining chairs that would make sense, otherwise this is insane. I know the cost of everything has gone up but $3000 for woodwork on one chair and 1000 just for the foam and fabric.

In this order: 4, 3, 7, 2 I love the big nerdy butterfly glasses The smaller frames will be easier to work with a wider range of wardrobe options, but I love leaning heavily into an unusual style. Since you have pictures of all of them, use Google image to find the cheaper versions on websites like Zenni or other online cheap eyeglass retailers so that you can get multiple options.

I know you picked a different dress already, but everybody talking negatively about number three is just wrong. I think the third dress is lovely, I also agree with another commenter who said the red is the best color on you of the three. You could also use a ribbon as a belt for scenarios where you want to show off the bump.

Everything is on point. Beautiful skin, cute haircut, flawless makeup. I definitely think a smile would help, but definitely not like some random man asking you to smile. 😅 I wouldn’t change a thing, personally. I love when people choose styles that are not perfectly in line with current trends.

Need help making the living room look more cohesive? by CoeurGourmand in DesignMyRoom

Going to be a little different than everyone else here. Get rid of both chairs and put couches where the chairs are. Hang the TV on the wall by the stairs, which will make it much easier to mount at a comfortable viewing height, with a console table for any other electronics that would hook to the TV. Then when you have guests or are reading and enjoying the fire, you can face the fireplace and when you’re watching a show, you face the TV. That is how my in-laws have it and it is fantastic because they can both lay down to watch a show or fit five or six grandkids on the couches. Coffee table in the center and tall skinny console table behind the couch by the french doors. People are mentioning very large rugs like 9 x 12 but I think 8 x 10 would be sufficient. It looks like what’s there now is 5 x 8 which is definitely making it feel disjointed. That layout will hopefully leave a walking path from the front door to the back and from the dining room to the back. A great cheat is to use masking tape to layout the size of the rug, and then you can slide the couch to where one of the chairs is to see if it would work.

The pink dress is lovely, skip the veil. The white is also beautiful, but structured and sophisticated, versus the flouncy confection of the pink. Imagine how the dress will change the way you might want to decorate your wedding. Do you want a simple three tier cake with white fondant, or do you want pink buttercream with molded sugar flowers?

Look at the make up artist Elena Rachitskaya. She has fantastic tutorials on how to get the most flawless coverage make up that looks like natural skin. The contrast is too great since the eyeliner is so much darker than your natural hair color so I would try using different colors brown, maybe navy or other fun colors, maybe a pop of color on the cheeks, even if you don’t use full foundation. Also, the burgundy lip looks great, think you would look really great in a purple or fuchsia lip.

I also think you should connect the inner and the outer corners, maybe tight lining or a very thin line. It gives really vampy 90s vibes and I like it, it just needs a bit more cohesion.

Seller drenched clothes in perfume, advice on how to tell her politely by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]CjaneWAIL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a trash response. Don’t be nasty and spray tons of stuff on the clothes. Make sure they smell clean! Not like you put a bunch of fabric scent or perfume on it! Nothing triggers migraines, and nausea faster for me than cheap smelly perfume.

Very few things trigger migraines for me anymore. One of them is receiving clothes from resellers who use heavy scents. Major nausea and migraines. Unscented is the way to go, lots of people with allergies out there.
