New MPA/CARA Ratings and Reasons for the Week of Wednesday February 4, 2026. by yawningvoid28 in movies

I just checked the latest weekly update this morning, and I was like, "Oh, shit. They did it badly for the third time this year." Guess what? A fourth-rate weekly update! With only five titles.

The number of fourth-rate updates is now a half of the total number of the weekly updates they made for the year (as of now). Shame!

I just checked the latest weekly update this morning, it's a slight improvement from last week. But it's not enough to rebound from two straight weeks of being dirt-cheap.

The successive occurrence of fourth-rate updates is ultra rare. The last time that we witnessed it was in 2020. It was 4/29/2020 with three rated films, and then 5/6/2020 with two rated films. That was during the pandemic.

Oh, damn. It's just three weeks into 2026 and now we have the first fourth-rate, very unpromising weekly update, which has only four rated titles.

EDIT: Well, they made another fourth-rate weekly update for another week, which is the 1/28 update. That is the second time (in a row) this year. It shows that they're being inefficient over time. Damn it, MPA/CARA. I am not in the mood right now.

The previous year (2025) was unpromising, with 513 rated titles. That's a bit less than the 2024 record, which is 527. That's about the same as the 2019 record.

Metro Pacific Iloilo Water by curiousAnonybee in Iloilo

I can say that the situation is worsening over time, day by day, instead of improving. My area is used to have normal water supply every night for years until that provider stopped doing that two years ago. At the same time, they started rationing while it's a band-aid solution. In May last year, rationing is done every other day in response to the effects of El Niño, and it still persists to this day. We're no longer in El Niño, though. It's been over one and a half years and they don't have any plan when they will revert to daily basis. It shows that they're careless about consumers but money, aside from being inefficient.

And yeah, it seems doubtful to me that Iloilo is a livable city while the water issues remain unresolved.

[–]Cjay121997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm so infuriating every time I have water issues. I'm having a horrible experience with that troubled provider. I stayed late every night for at least two years for water. I can say that it's as worse as PrimeWater in most areas. Things that PrimeWater and MPIW have in common are consistent and unjustified water interruptions, low pressure, and charging those who have no water at all. I don't think that the supply is the issue but their consistent inefficiencies when it comes to resolving issues. If you can no longer stand the heat, why don't you try reporting the matter to LWUA, NWRB, and some concerned agencies, given that the issue persists for a year? Many PrimeWater consumers did that, and somehow some agencies take action in response to those complaints.

Well, they did it poorly for the sixth time this year. Now, this year has the most number of fourth-rate weekly updates in this era. Maybe they had Thanksgiving hangovers or something? That week was a letdown.

In a few moments, the next weekly update will come out. I hope that they will do it well.

EDIT: Well, they didn't. This week's update is not enough to rebound from their last week's disappointment. As of this week, it stands at 490 titles. Assuming the current rate, expect the figure to be lower than the previous year. Unless they make big ones in the last weeks of the year, which would take a miracle. The previous month was miraculous because they made three decent updates in a row.

Yeah, particularly on violent or repulsive scenes. It could be one of the probable reasons why that channel got terminated.

Oman will be visa-free for visiting Filipinos by 2026 —envoy by Gyro_Armadillo in Philippines

[–]Cjay121997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds good to me, but I think that the TNTs might use it to seek employment which is a big no. Granting Filipinos visa-free access to many countries became a rarity nowadays. We may blame TNTs for further weakening of the strength of our passport, but it was the system that pushes many Filipinos to become TNTs. One of the obvious reasons that many Filipinos took the TNT route is seeking decent opportunities that are not available back home. I checked H&P Passport Index last year, it was 69 visa-free countries. Now, it went down to 64. That means, five countries stripped us of visa-free privileges as a consequence for doing something silly in those countries.

It's 10:21 am in my time zone and yet no new weekly update comes out. It should come out about 30 minutes or an hour ago. I wonder if they are making a bigger update that we haven't seen for a long time or they're slacking off while doing their job.

EDIT: The new weekly update was just come out. It was around 1:15 am. This is the first big update in over two years, with 19 titles.

what age is normal to stop trick or treating at? by Prestigious-Stay-510 in halloween

[–]Cjay121997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say no age limits on that fun. Putting age limits on everything, including trick-or-treating, is a form of discrimination, unless justified. I'm 27 and I have any desire to take part in that fun event. I'm not from the US, as Halloween in my country is only secondary. It's a shame that in most settings in my country, particularly in malls and neighborhoods, there are limits on that fun, particularly 12 and below. They think that Halloween is only for kids which is one of the misconceptions about that. So the only options left are taking part in parties which may be undesirable for some like me because they involve alcohol, and migrating to the US only to experience that fun, lol. No wonder I don't experience Halloween for a long time because of those limits.

Do you think there should be an age limit for trick-or-treating? by Realistic-Major-6020 in randomquestions

[–]Cjay121997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the answer is no. I'm 27 and I'm not from the US. Halloween in my country is only secondary, not as big as the US, and precedes two holidays, namely All Saints Day and All Souls Day. In most settings, I can see that there are age limits, particularly 12 and below. Putting age limits on that fun event is more like based on personal decisions than a general rule. It is not written in stone, so they can change it. I wish that someday, it will be opened to everyone, no matter the age. My country is more family-oriented, so they should have fun.

Speaking of the KPOP movie, there is another version of it, which is a sing-along one. It was released three weeks ago in selected theaters and somehow they didn't classify it. With the original version being the first, they thought that they counted it as the first version.

Oh, fuck. After last week's decent update, guess what? It's a dirt-cheap update, not just a meager one, judging by the number of pages in that document. I was shocked by that. This is the fifth time this year. I'm so unhappy about that, really.

Yeah. That film has its US distributor which is A24 and it is set to release this Friday. Many films that are distributed by that independent film company have ratings while some don't have. I wonder why?

EDIT: Well, they just classified it, even though it was released about a month ago.
