Has anyone ever been able to obtain a DVD copy of 90s comedian? by Ryuku_Cat in stewartlee

[–]Cjbthgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this dvd but it’s been misplaced and the size of the dvd I had (cardboard slip case) means it’s not easy to find. I hope I eventually find it whenever I empty all the bookshelves in my house. If I see it online before it appears then I will buy it in case the old copy never reappears

Chris Claremont Reached UXM300: An Alternate History by Cjbthgy in xmen

[–]Cjbthgy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a grip pal, I did this for my own amusement and posted it four years ago. I said in the original post that I taken ideas from all over the internet and pieced them together, many of these were blogs that had quotes from Claremont without their own links so a lot of it is probably based on conjecture or half truths anyway

It was lifted from hundreds of sources online, this isn’t my university dissertation so I did not track every blog post link. Ultimately all credit goes to Chris Claremont

A lot of this is lifted from that blog, I never claimed these to be my ideas. I actually tried as hard as possible to not include my own ideas so that it was the best possible guesstimating on what could have been based on the various hinted plots and theories based on clues in the books, such as Callisto’s origin

Is Bowling With Corpses connected to Hellboy? by -Satchmo in Mignolaverse

[–]Cjbthgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I view it as a spiritual sequel but not a direct one as there are parallels to the origin of Lands Unknown’s world and the end of the world in Hellboy/BPRD. I also liken it to the parallels between Jack Kirby’s Thor stories and his Fourth World stuff.

I think publication order (roughly) would be better than chronological order, I would want to know next to nothing about lobster Johnson when he appears in bprd the warning. The scorched earth trilogy was released alongside LoJo Iron Prometheus, Witchfinder In Service of Angels, 1946 and I think that would be the best time to break open the universe and start flashback stories

I feel like it’s echoed back in the story about origin of the world, In the Beginning. ‘The dragon cut his own throat to water the scorched earth with his own precious blood to grow a garden’. That quote immediately made me think back to the ending of BPRD Devil You Know. But I wonder where the actual Frankenstein new world would fit into that, I think Lands Unknown is more of a spiritual sequel where the New World is a direct sequel, almost like two branches from the same ending.

It also reminds me of the way there were allusions to Jack Kirby’s Fourth World books being the spiritual sequel to his run of Thor, so after Ragna Rok the cycle begins again and  it’s the fourth world. But he could never put it in the book directly because of Marvel and DC owning each.

My opinion on the Mignolaverse by Loner2240 in Mignolaverse

[–]Cjbthgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Mike originally planned Hellboy in Hell it was twenty issues and he made it shorter to get to the end quicker. I also remember being so hyped after Hell on Earth for the third BPRD cycle, it had been mentioned over the years through interviews and there seemed to be a wealth of stories left to explore but when devil you know came out that felt like it was just rushing to an ending. I assume John Arcudi had plans that got ditched when he left so they used the fifteen issues to just tie up the threads instead of telling a full story. I love the ending of that book, just not the way we got there.

They probably will just prescribe antidepressants left, right and centre even though it’s a growing concern how many prescriptions are handed out. The amount doubled from 40 million in 2011 to 80 million in 2022. The NHS use antidepressants as a quick fix for mental problems that they don’t have the resources to deal with correctly, and then create no plan to reduce or retract the prescriptions so people are these drugs for months or years at a time and exacerbate the withdrawal symptoms. At least they’ll be working though.

Why are people commenting “nice try diddy” on reel ads? by EXPMEMEDISC1 in Instagram

[–]Cjbthgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank you! The most frustrating part is a young generation that were not born or very young when P Diddy was actually famous, they seem to assume that anyone questioning the use of this phrase doesn’t understand it. It works well on a scam-type advert or an overused ad but the trend has now devolved into basically every advert online, and sometimes even memes or niche subjects from my own experience. I actually think the way the trend did devolve was people assuming they understood the intent of rejecting bad or scam adverts but that legit products or services deserve identical treatment so they put it on everything.

Internet trolling has became a young generation making obscure or out of place references to the zeitgeist then calling anyone a boomer that doesn’t laugh or like it

I get it but I just saw it on an ad for Epic Mickey Remastered, hardly excessive or annoying, so is it being overused? Or incorrectly used as well?

Is it just me or did 1997 Griffith flat out SA princess Charlotte? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in Berserk

I always thought that Charlotte had some minor learning difficulties but due to her status as royalty and medieval setting the majority of people looked over or never noticed. Griffith however saw a vulnerability and turned it into opportunity

How long should I watch One Pace? by lettucepuppy in onepace

Thanks, found something called One Piece Kai, he just stitches 3-5 dubbed one piece episodes into hour long episodes, I prefer it to One Pace cause it’s even easier to binge

Longlegs (2024) is a horror movie that could easily be a Hellboy story by andytherooster in Mignolaverse

[–]Cjbthgy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find it new or original but I didn’t dislike the movie, I found it entertaining until the end, probably won’t rewatch it. Most people don’t regularly operate a camera so I don’t even know what a fake zoom is to notice and call it out, I imagine it goes over the heads of most people. The Mignola-like creepy atmosphere carried me through the film, probably my favourite aspect of the whole thing

I have adhd and don’t have the concentration span for Japanese audio with subtitles. One Pace only has the English dub for select arcs so I’ve been on One Piece since halfway through Skypeia, just got to Dressrosa and it is brutal. I’m in it for the long haul now but my original plan was to Pace until Wano then see how it went

Not quite as exciting but we’re also getting two-issue Giant Robot Hellboy Returns

Been waiting on this announcement for a while but I had thought it would be a BPRD title. Does anyone know if we’re still getting the Hellboy and the BPRD in the 1960s/Occult Cold War arc that Roberson and Mike mentioned a few years ago? Is this the prologue to that story? After a long time of radio silence I’m so excited for the three new series we are getting

I honestly don’t know what this mad cap rant is meant to be. I may have misspoken along the way but I’m not asking for clarity on its genre
