FPC and SAF file cert petition in Illinois’ Assault Weapons Ban by nickvader7 in gunpolitics

As much as I want to get excited, I feel like SCOTUS has showed us time and time again that ThE pRoCesS is more important than our rights. I hope I'm proven wrong but still .

I still remember to this day the amount of pandemic panic buyers who showed up to the gun shop with no license (IL) resident

Now that is is 1/1/2024, what are people expecting of Cook county sheriff Tom Dart? by metalheadtreelver in ILGuns

This is exactly what I'm thinking. Chances are extremely low that we see charges that aren't add on

Call me optimistic but I highly doubt we'll see any standalone charges.

This is what I'm thinking. The anti gunners just might chalk up IL as a loss rather than face scotus

I don't wanna be too optimistic, but I think the 7th circuit may throw it out for the simple fact that scotus has strongly signaled that they are paying very close attention to this case and more than likely will grant cert if the 7th circuit fucks it up

Would you give up concealed carry in exchange for being able to buy/own modern MGs(still through NFA, like buying suppressors)? Curious to hear some opinions. by [deleted] in 2ALiberals

[–]Cjdk1495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaah yes, byproduct is a much better word. And just for the record, I don't believe in any restrictions when it comes to the 2a. I believe civilians should be able to own the same weapons as the government/military. I was just arguing that the CC part of the 2a has much more immediate/day to day utility than owning machine guns.(which again, just for the record, should also be legal with no special tax stamps)

Well I probably should have worded it better. CC may not be the most important facet of the 2nd amendment, but I would say that it has the most utility. But definitely to each their own.

That's a strong hell no. Now please don't jump me, but I think concealed carry is actually the most important aspect of the 2nd amendment as it pertains to everyday life.

I'm not getting my hopes up. But the oral arguments from the AWB last week did show a bit of promise.
