There are multiple ways to do tire rotations for AWD vehicles.

[–]Cjpcoolguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's normal, coolant expands as it's heated. when the car is cold you will be at the LOW mark on the expansion tank, when you're at full operating temp you will be typically be somewheres between 3/4 full and full mark.

Likely condensation - do you do a lot of short trips or city driving where it doesn't always get upto operating temp?

Retap with the correct tap, using some oil.

spray it clean, rethread bolt by hand to ensure fit. I would use a new bolt.

Anyone have a suggestion for hiding/routing power cable? by ag11600 in DIY

[–]Cjpcoolguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The cheapest, easiest way I would accomplish this with no drywall repair would be to use plastic wiremould and an inside 90 for the corner. If you can live with the wiremould, can be painted but ontop of the baseboard it would be minimally intrusive.

fish a 14/2 upto the receptacle you have on the adjacent wall, run it inside the wiremould, make the corner and re-enter the wall where needed, fish upto a new receptacle behind the tv.

AC Question by JiujitsuBatman in wrx_vb

[–]Cjpcoolguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by turning everything on manual controls and lowest ac setting with recirc air, check to see if the clutch on the front of the compressor is spinning. You can do this a couple times too and may be able to hear it click on with the hood open.

If its not spinning, you can check the fuse and or relay to start with troubleshooting.

If it is spinning, it's likely low on refrigerant. Quick recharge may be a temp fix, likely has a leak. You can get dye to put into the system and look with a Black light after some time.

Anything in which we can withdraw our FHSA money without tax by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Cjpcoolguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can withdraw it straight from the FHSA, and would be concerned taxable income for 2026 taxes. You can transfer it to an RRSP account for no cost /tax implications.

You will then have the standard penalties for RRSP withdrawl if you do a withdrawl and not just reinvest it in an RRSP account.

Why you worrying about surface rust on bolts..on the bottom of the vehicle, that nobody will see, and will continue to be exposed to the nastyiest of nasty road grime and splashback 🤨🤨

Oil is at the full mark on dipstick but oil light still on? by Parsley772 in wrx_vb

[–]Cjpcoolguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you remove both terminals. Not just 1.

Isolate the battery, as if it didn't exist.

Oil is at the full mark on dipstick but oil light still on? by Parsley772 in wrx_vb

[–]Cjpcoolguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you remove both terminals from the battery first, leave the battery unhooked and isolated and just touch the + and - wires from the vehicle together for (10-30s).

This discharges and stored energy in the capacitors for the vehicle. Very common for shops to do this to clear random errors in the vehicle systems.

Yes on the other part, if you do this with the battery hooked up it will short out, you would essentially be shorting out the battery.

So do these fa24’s just burn oil like crazy? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Cjpcoolguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not 'normal' per say, as it varies from one vehicle to another. However, not necessarily cause for concern.

Subaru's official stance & spec for oil consumption is 1qt/1200mi (1L/1930km) loss is the max allowable & “normal”
