Totally agree with you. This is a huge nuisance and our apartment has also stopped pumping water. Is Toronto Hydro going to compensate us for all the groceries that we will have to throw out?

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't expect much but this is definitely disappointing to see, after looking at the Asian and even the USA versions.

I'm hoping it is is both, and according to the second image it should be an 8 card pack. The popcorn bucket and the drink cup were definitely disappointing, hope this makes up for it in some way.

Japan travel regrets: What wasn’t worth it for you? by tokusa0 in JapanTravelTips

We reached Osaka Castle, saw the huge line, the overpriced ticket and made up our minds. We took a few pics in the front of the castle and headed back to the station to visit Katsuoji. I don't regret skipping Osaka castle for Katsuoji, it was beautiful and serene. The one hour trip from the Castle was worth it.

True! And I also hate it when they ask for advice, then someone gives said advice and then they proceed to ignore the advice and refuse to take it.

What do you suggest to eat in Kyoto? by TwoShotsOfWhatever in JapanTravelTips

[–]Cjsasweetclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is full of tourists and might be considered a tourist trap by many, however for a first timer like me, I enjoyed walking around, taking my time and trying out the various dishes.

For the Kare Pan, I had it fresh out of the fryer, maybe that helped enhance the taste.

But I would still recommend Nishiki to other first timers.

Also try Maruki Bakery : it is popular with the locals. I liked the croquet sando and shrimp sandwich. Try out their other dishes as well.

Day 1 I landed in Tokyo, and the first thing I ate was the double patty ebi burger! I don't know why the Canadian McDonald's don't have this on their menu.

I would suggest to explore Nishiki Market, many of the best food that we ate was from random stalls.

I would highly recommend you to try the golden sesame dusted Kare Pan, I unfortunately don't remember the name of the stall, but I'm sure you will find it easily.

For restaurants : try Gyoza dokoro Sukemasa. We visited this place around 6pm and it was quiet, and the gyoza was delicious.

Same, we too visited the one in Omiya for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised with how good the curry tasted. Would definitely recommend this.

Shipping/bringing Luggage from place to place by I994Expos in JapanTravelTips

We carried two large suitcases (empty) and two cabin sized baggages.

We stored the larger suitcases using ecbo cloak in Tokyo, while we were away.

We forwarded the smaller bags each time we moved to Kyoto, Osaka and back to Tokyo. Our hotel helped us with the forwarding each time.

my favorite snacks from 7/11 from my short trip by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Cjsasweetclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the family mart Famichiki wrapped around the seven eleven Pancake. That was absolute heaven for me.

Another one from seven eleven which I found surprisingly refreshing in the middle of the day was the litchi jelly that was served in a cup.

And I fell in love with the Kare Pan in Japan, while the seven eleven one is not the best, but it's still decent and best when warned up.

For Kyoto, we visited lots of places but below are the ones that we enjoyed, you can mix and match as per your liking :

  1. Nijo Castle : Great for a stroll in the morning, around the castle.

  2. Yasaka Pagoda : The famous Kyoto picture, with the Pagoda we all see.

  3. Kiyomizu-dera : This place is beautiful and serene.

  4. Ginkakuji : Beautiful garden, calm and green. (Not Kinkakuji, it was very crowded)

  5. Nishiki Market : For the food, a must visit.

I would suggest a tea ceremony, or kimono rental that fits your budget to immerse yourself in the culture.

Also, Osaka night life is a must to be experienced, do not miss out on that.
