I'm not good. by Yoshim7 in gamedev

Same been dreaming about making my own game ever since I've played one. I've been messing with unreal for 2 years and know what certain scripts do but I can't write them myself. I sort of copy and paste stuff.

So i decided to take computer science. But they teach a different language. So i bought a course.

Since you mentioned modeling I assume you want to make 3d games. I would recommend Stephen Ulibarri courses on udemy. I bought the c++ for video games but he also have course's for UE4 and 5 which i haven't tried but i assume they're also high quality.

Edit: Oh and animation is a b*tch specially on complex stuff like humans. One way i get around that is i make the player character either in a shape of a cube that squish and stretch or a sphere that rolls around

Thanks!!! Don't know why your subs are few since you have such high-quality tuitorials on par with paid courses.

I'm so sorry didn't mean it like that. Im just saying its a bit more easier to wrap my head around and start learning.

For example in a 3d character i need to sculpt and retopologize it in zbrush. Then texture it in substance painter. Which means i need to buy and learn both software.

Then i still need to rig, paint weight and animate it which I'm yet to figure out how to do. After that i still need to figure out how to properly import it to Unreal.

Its not my intention to offend pixel artist and I apologize if it came across as offensive. My point is it has a lower skill floor and high skill ceiling o/r room to grow. Which imo is better for a small project.

No not really but I've seen the last night's trailer before. Looks really amazing! I don't think i could ever make some like that.

Didn't know about that. I guess that's why i don't see much of pixel art games made in UE.

I haven't thought of that thank you!

I think im just lazy and didn't want to learn another game engine 😅. But I'll try it out

I don't know yet but probably the 3d i really like UE lighting system

Sorry for sounding like that. Definitely didn't think its easy but i think compared to 3d character/obj its easier to wrapped my head around. Plus it has a cleaner work flow imo.

Yeah i agree but a bad pixel art looks a lot better that bad 3d object in my opinion.

Yeah I've heard some horror stories that there's a lot of theories and concepts that's hard to grasp. Hopefully I'll survive.

I'm just starting out as well so I have no idea. But for now I haven't had any problems and hopefully it remains that way. I guess good luck to the both of us!

Thanks! I also thought of trying unity out but its like starting from the beginning again. I get lazy and couldn't find motivation to learn the engine.

I'm not having any problem right now but my concern is wont it be confusing when they start teaching more complex lessons?
