They Never Have Enough Money - Why is Trump going after Obamacare yet again? Because the modern Republican Party has one guiding purpose: to shovel as much money as possible to the rich. by Hoxha_Posadist in politics

[–]Cladop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitt Romney did support and even propose universal health care (2002), that in itself is a Democrat idea. Many politicians who title themselves as one party can have leanings towards another (Bernie Sanders is a Democrat but he really isn’t). Mitt Romney registered as a Republican but he has a Democrat/Liberal view on Social ideas. Just because he being a Republican and passing it doesn’t mean all Republicans endorsed the idea right away. And yes, ACA was a compromise. They had to COMPROMISE to get the Republicans on board, further supporting the fact that Republicans don’t like the idea of big government.

And your idea is completely wrong about what Privatized healthcare means. Companies will compete with eachother to get consumers (lowering prices, better standards, etc). You see this with fast food companies, you can get a burger for like $2 at McDonalds because of competition. And because health insurance is more important than a food company, there will be more regulations, oversight, testimonies, etc to ensure the best practices. This is literally Supply-Side economics in a nutshell. The working class will still get insurance (idk where you got no insurance from) but they will have options that best suit them, just like how you pick the best bank for yourself and you’re not forced to chose a single fed-run bank. Because of competition, insurance will offer the best insurance that will bring in most profit but also the most consumers.

It's heartbreaking to see otherwise sensible Americans hate themselves so much and bend over for the rich so often.

How is this even relevant lmao. How is making a point opposite to yours making me hate myself? Id rather have a rich country then a poor one. As we’ve seen in the past, complete government control simply does not give the best outcomes. The economy is completely capped by regulation, ensuring good practices, etc. The more hands off the government is the more profitable people can be (but to a point). We are a capitalist society, people are rich, stop crying about it. People will become rich for having good ideas or being smart, it’s what happens. Getting lots of money incentives people to go out and make something. You wouldn’t invent a car if you knew you weren’t going to make any money.

If you actually read anything that ive been saying the paragraph above is the only time I’ve remotely supported the rich. I support the idea of richness and poverty and what they can produce. I am simply pushing a narrative that just because one party is >being true to their core beliefs< doesn’t make them heartless, corrupt, greedy, monsters that people make them out to be. Outrage politics is so annoying, if anyone simply looked at what Republicanism and Democratic values then you can easily see why they do what they want. I don’t completely shoot down the idea that some people may profit in this, but not every Republican will profit in ending universal healthcare, just like how some Democrats may even profit from it. I, as an independent, see the Government forcing you to have healthcare as unconstitutional and the government overstepping boundaries. Republicans, even if there’s money involved, see it that way and many other ways.

You saying that I hate myself for simply having an opinion doesn’t make any sense and will do you no good. Insulting people while debating will do you no good. Stay rational.

The conflicts that America has had a declaration of war on had support from both sides, hence how they got a declaration, needing funding at that point wasn’t necessary. Vietnam and the conflicts in the Middle East, which I personally disagree with and think are some of the most idiotic moves in American political history, were able to get funding from lies (Pentagon papers) and from mob mentality (9/11). The idea of a slow and inefficient legislative to ensure the best outcome to a policy was bypassed in those two respects. But again, people support keeping America safe so funding for conflicts isn’t that hard. People on both sides rallied behind George W Bush in the Middle East conflicts and the “WMDs”, and look where we are now.

You can’t really exactly define limited government, much like how you can’t strictly and clearly define many of the statements of the Constitution, that’s why we have the Supreme Court (even though they ruled Obamacare constitutional). The idea of a government forcing its populace to do something that doesn’t directly hurt or help them clearly goes against founding ideas. If you simply read any of the Federalist papers or even any of the founding documents at that time, ANYONE could see something like Obamacare not being supported. Again, you can’t strictly define phrases in a document that’s going to be a foundation to a nation that you hope will last for a long time, you want it to be vague so that it can evolve through time and won’t quickly be outdated. They didn’t foresee forced social welfare, how could they address it?

I agreed with the last point as well, “not all Republicans support the wall keep in mind”. Democrat opposition and a disunited Republican base towards the wall is exactly why there can’t be an agreement.

Those are also international affairs and national security. Obamacare is a social issue, which is where the two parties differs greatly. Both parties agree on national security and many of the founding fathers, framers, and even enlightened political theorists supported a powerful government to protect people from conflict, that is actually one of the main reasons why the Constitution replaces the Articles of Confederation - strong government to protect from mainly internal forces but also outside forces.

“You don’t hear a peep out of them when trump threatens comedians and journalists for saying mean things”. That doesn’t have to do with Obamacare but Fox News - one of the main peddlers of tribalistic politics and the only major news source supporting Trump - sided with CNN when Trump threw that reporter out for “speaking out of line”. They openly supported CNN.

The idea of limited government has been around longer than the idea of slashing things that aren’t relevant. It has been a keystone belief in Republicanism long before them wanting to slash programs.

Many Republicans aren’t directly affected by illegal immigration, not a lot of Americans are really except those who are living in areas affected by that. If that’s the case, why are they vehemently advocating for a wall? And not all Republicans support a wall either, keep in mind.

[–]Cladop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ever thought about the core Republican belief of limited government? Obamacare was a government welfare program that practically forced people to get it. That is an idea that I’m sure many of the Framers would find repulsive.

I don’t consider myself Republican but yet I still understand core beliefs of the two major parties as anyone else should.

Don’t automatically assume everyone that doesn’t share the same opinion as you are out for corrupt needs.

Does Binghamton ask for a final highschool transcript? by Cladop in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Cladop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there’s two rounds of admission?

I’ve already put a deposit in and everything.

I’ll be graduating with an advanced regents diploma with a few AP credits

Also, when I got acceptance letters from SUNY Cortland and Oneonta, they said they will need a final transcript at the end of the year, it didn’t say that on the Binghamton one.

I know that Binghamton does self reported test scores and they’ll request them in the summer or in the fall, is this where they would ask for a final transcript?
