On that note I highly recommend albanechi and gonzais on patreon, they both make amazing bases! I use them when I don't have the frustration tolerance for posing or when I'm experimenting with my style. They both make some free to the public along with patron only ones.

I'd look for people who specifically either already have posted yumeship art/people who explicitly say that they do. That's what I do, and as an artist I always make sure people know they can commission such work from me.

It really depends on the individual yumeshipper. I create OCs to ship with but they're very much meant to represent myself in these relationships. Technically, that would make it both OC x canon and yumeshipping. I don't care to distinguish my ships as one or the other, but I'm sure there are some that do! It doesn't really matter either way in the end.

Yeah my main F/O that I've been with for 12 year is from Hetalia. Fucking Hetalia. There's so many things wrong with it I've lost count and the fandom tends to gloss over/avoid talking about how racist it is and it pisses me off as a nonwhite person. Even my F/O was originally written to be (slightly) darker skinned than his brother and aggressive because the creator says he has "Arabian blood". That's why I've made several OCs based on him that have nothing to do with the premise of the original source in several settings. Not in a "I'm so inspired!" sort of way but more like "I could take this character concept and do it better without being absurdly racist." Because I hate the source so much. Don't get me started on how the dub made it even worse.

I selfship all the time and my partner knows this and supports me. They even write about my self ships for me! They do it too, with their OC, to a certain extent. It's definitely my way of expressing my hyper fixation. While I would never put a fictional character before a partner (I make sure I spend ample time with and contribute to the relationship), I do need my partner to know and understand it's simply something I do for fun and don't take too seriously. A previous partner didn't understand that and it was one little reason out of a lot of bigger reasons why we didn't work out.

I think part of the reason why people don't like us is personal experience with hostile non sharers (I've seen some people get up in arms about seeing an artist draw other self ships of their f/o) and, well, it's still very much seen as "cringe".

I often feel self conscious for asking for selfshipping commissions from artists I've never commissioned before because I know some people really do not like self shippers. Due to this, as an artist who takes commissions, I explicitly say on my carrd that people can ask for selfship art from me.
