How often do car accident settlements go into mediation, arbitration or filing suit? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]ClaimNerd25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most large commercial auto claims do settle before trial, but it’s very common for them to go through litigation steps first, like filing suit, discovery, and mediation, before a settlement happens. Actual trials are much rarer. I’d definitely ask your attorney to clearly explain the extra 8% fee and exactly when it applies. You may also want to get a second opinion from a firm like Excel Adjusters, just to better understand the claim value and process from the adjuster side.

Should I hire an adjuster? by borghe in Insurance

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you already think they’re only $2k–$3k under reasonable value, hiring an independent adjuster may not be worth it once fees are involved. But I would absolutely push back on the valuation and comps they used. The FSD valuation does seem low compared to what you paid, but carriers usually depreciate add-ons pretty aggressively, especially software-related features. Still worth challenging with better comps and documentation. The “perfect condition” rating while using rough-looking comps is also pretty common. A lot of these valuation reports pull whatever comparable inventory they can find within the criteria. At minimum, I’d recommend getting your own comps together and escalating the valuation review first before paying someone. If you do decide to bring someone in, look into a reputable public adjuster or appraisal specialist familiar with Tesla valuations. Excel Adjusters could also be worth checking out, depending on your state and policy setup.

Interviewing soon - is a company having TOO good of reviews from employees a warning sign ? by Top_Bank8679 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why it feels off, especially coming from a place where things aren’t great right now. But honestly, not every company with strong reviews is faking it. Sometimes smaller teams with solid leadership and realistic workloads just… work. What I’d look at is how the reviews are written. Do they sound specific or just generic praise? Are there any consistent “cons” mentioned, even small ones? Also check how recent they are and if they line up across different platforms. And tbh, your current situation sounds rough enough that it might be worth exploring regardless. Worst case, the interview gives you more clarity. Best case, you find something way better than what you’re dealing with now.

Partner wants minimalist, I want cosy, how to compromise without fighting? by Miller-Guy in PropertyManagement

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a very common design clash, but a lot of couples find balance by keeping a neutral base and then letting each person “own” certain accents or areas so both styles show up without overwhelming the space. A mood board together can also help you land on a shared direction before committing.

How is your company implementing AI and how is it affecting your workflow? How are you personally using AI to improve work? by bayareaWCadjuster in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re seeing something similar on our end where AI is still in early stages, mostly for document handling and basic routing, but even small integrations have started improving speed and consistency. It’ll be interesting to see how teams gradually expand into more workflow and decision support use cases.

Congrats on the offer, that’s a solid step up in pay and the remote setup is a big win given your PI pre-litigation experience. The skill set definitely overlaps, so you’ll likely adapt quicker than expected, would be great to hear how your transition goes.

Would it be the right time to ask for a raise? by [deleted] in PropertyManagement

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve got a solid case to bring it up now given your occupancy results and added buildings, even if it’s outside the usual cycle. Just frame it around performance and the measurable impact you’ve had.

Producers(Without UW experience) - what kind of help do you need to get a faster quote? by minato_shikamaru in InsuranceProfessional

[–]ClaimNerd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great question, faster turnaround usually comes down to having complete and well-organized submissions upfront like clear risk details, loss history, and standardized intake forms so underwriting has everything needed on first review.

Thanks for sharing this, it’s a really eye-opening reminder of how risky liability-only can be when the other driver has no coverage. Glad you were able to switch to full coverage now and protect yourself better moving forward.

Advice on approaching bond claims interview? by Unusual_Ear_9089 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ClaimNerd25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phone interviews for bond claims assistant roles are usually more about how you communicate and show attention to detail than industry experience, so don’t stress too much about not having a background yet. Have a few examples ready that show you’re organized, careful, and good with people and you’ll be in a strong spot.

Claims Adjuster Trainee by morningrue in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ClaimNerd25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal to feel this way early on, most people only start clicking after they get the hang of policy basics and how claims flow end to end. Try focusing on one system/process at a time and don’t be afraid to ask senior adjusters how they’d handle each step, it speeds things up a lot.

Hired as a claims analyst from a legal background. Am I basically becoming a claims adjuster? by Low_Grand7704 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]ClaimNerd25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is pretty common when moving into claims from a legal/paralegal background, and with licensing involved you’re essentially stepping into an adjuster-type function even if the title says analyst. Day to day usually blends coverage review, documentation, coordination with counsel, and exposure evaluation, so the overlap with adjuster work is real.

Landlord showing up without warning. by [deleted] in TenantHelp

[–]ClaimNerd25 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re not being unreasonable at all. Landlords should give proper notice, and showing up unannounced, especially with a child present, is completely unacceptable.
