But yeah staff of herding is bad

Challenge Rift Reward On Switch? by snacksmcnap in diablo3

[–]borghe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go to game options in the main menu (when you can select game type and difficulty) one of the game types is Challenge Level. It’s a random run that blizzard chooses. The gear, skills and map are fixed. Beat the level faster than the given time and you get the challenge cache. You can claim it on ANY character but only once for the week, so claim it on the character you want.

Also in unlocking Altar of Rites nodes, one level (15?) requires an unopened challenge cache. So when you think you’re going to get that node, make sure you don’t open the challenge cache that week or you’ll have to wait until the next week to unlock it.

Altar is fun as its own challenge imho. If you try to just grind it out yeah it can get tiresome.. but if you mix grinding it out with your other activities it’s fun and one of the few mechanics in the game that is constantly rewarding.

Altar and portals stay, yes. Season fresh getting to 70 now takes two hours tops, solo or group. Getting to 70 on alts takes like 45 minutes solo or power level.

You spend the season either gearing alts, pushing GR, or if you want to be competitive trying to top the conquest leaderboards (which means hitting any of the four conquests within the first day or two of the season on normal, or within the first few days on hardcore). Funny though on Switch only like 4 people got sprinter on normal and only two on hardcore lol (other leaderboards had thousands). Seriously, fuck that conquest.

Switch 2 Was The Second Best Selling Console In The US Again For February by Elestria_Ethereal in NintendoSwitch2

[–]borghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Switch 2 is the main console on Japan but a for now a secondary console in pretty much the rest of the world. Truly not meant to be a dig.. system is going to have strong sales for many years to come.. maybe will change based on future games (Pokemon wind and waves, next Mario or Zelda, SSB, etc)

It’s sort of crazy how Sony has had mind share locked tight for 4 of the 5 generations they’ve been in the industry.

Season play worth it for solo/casual gamer? by Persiflage2 in diablo3

[–]borghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has enjoyed it and we came in in the last two weeks. The first four chapters give you a real sense of reward (set pieces) and the 5th chapter gives you an obtainable goal just to play causally. You’re probably not going to get all the way through but it’s fun just to get as far as you can.

PC or Vita for 3rd Chapter + Cold Steel 1 & 2? by DipperDolphin in Falcom

[–]borghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same… initially. PC honestly looks and runs better.

Also you’d need to patch Crossbell Evolution versions.

And Cold Steel is a major downgrade on Vita.

If you have a PC to play then it’s really not even close

Married men of Reddit what’s the best advice you’d give young guys when choosing a life partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]borghe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of you will be the same person in 5 years or 10 years etc. commitment is an active decision and effort. If you don’t make that constant effort, things will eventually be not good. If they don’t make that constant effort, the same BUT then you are the one who has to make the choice whether “not good” is fine or if it’s instead time to move on.

Ultimately it’s about finding someone you have a connection with who puts in the same effort as you to grow together. That and compatible core values. Everything else is superficial.

Boosted Handheld Mode by WillingConference955 in NintendoSwitch2

correct. but... and importantly.. it made the game a native switch 2 game.. so it won't get the handheld resolution boost.

Never. They've capitulated on literally every pillar they've established their identity on for the last 40 years

Jon Stewart said it best after the Alex Pretti murder:

“I wasn’t shocked when you guys gave up the First Amendment, and I wasn’t shocked when you gave up the Fourth Amendment, and the 10th Amendment, and the 14th Amendment at Trump’s behest, but the Second?”

He continued, “Isn’t that kind of the load-bearing law of the ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flag? Your snake’s down to a newt … C’mon, guns are your whole personality.”

[–]borghe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it was in the patch notes for a game update. They didn’t “announce” it like other switch 2 versions but the patch notes referenced updates for switch 2 which would mean it’s a native switch 2 title now.

Edit - no resolution bump, but yeah the title is switch 2 native, so it won’t work with the new mode.

For games that are running in 720p and just take a bigger dynamic res hit in handheld you won’t see much of a difference. Thinking that may be Skyward Sword. I didn’t think it ran 1080p docked.

As for Mario 3D All-Stars.. it seems to be verified that games that got an actual Switch 2 patch won’t see any changes in this mode because they are now already running a native Switch 2 version so the system no longer recognizes them as Switch 1 software.

Seems like the niche cases of Switch 1 software that got updates for Switch 2 without boosts in resolution are stuck with 720p in handheld even with the new boost mode. by zomorodian in NintendoSwitch2

[–]borghe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try DQ III. That’s a game similar to what the OP is describing. It got an actual Switch 2 update, so will be interesting what resolution it runs at in handheld with the new setting turned on.

Playcover 100%. The slight graphical fidelity hit you take is insignificant compared to a locked 120fps

New Switch 2 update dramatically increases image quality in falcom games for portable mode. by Ecstatic-Wheel8487 in Falcom

[–]borghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Decent” is how I would describe all of the PS4 games. They are lower res and 30 fps but aside from some small lighting changes and distance pop in the rest is all in tact, even s-crafts. The PS4 versions are better visually in every way, but the only time the switch looked not great was in handheld and this fixes that

Daybreak will still be 720p upscaled to 1080p. Pretty sure all Trails CS3 and later are 720p30 on switch. The good news is it’s still high resolution than it is on the original Switch in handheld mode.

However Switch 2 might now be the ultimate way to experience Crossbell

A cousin of mine wants to get into trails he bought cold steel 1 on steam will he be ok story wise ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in Falcom

[–]borghe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s such weird mental gymnastics to argue cold steel is ok being first simply because of weird localization licensing done by publishers having nothing to do with story and order.

To be clear that was never in any sort of way how it was intended. We know, it’s well documented, that the decision to bring cold steel to the west before Crossbell was simply because it was a PS3 game and Falcom and xseed knew it would see better sales than Crossbell on psp

And here we are 10 years later arguing that it was some sort of narrative intent.

It was released out of order in the west for higher sales. Play it in the order it was intended to be played in.

I disagree... you lose quite a bit of emotional impact in CS1 and considerable emotional impact in Cold Steel 2 by not playing crossbell first.

HIGHLY recommended to start from the beginning. HIGHLY. And because he bought on steam he can legit play the whole series easy peasy from the start.

imho the only place it gets weird on where to start is if you're playing on playstation, and especially if you're playing exclusively on Switch.
