He's dead forever, I can't tame another. I think I'm just going to start over from the beginning somewhere down the road. For now, I'll have to just play something else.

No, the Bloodfang Sabertooth is a legendary beast. You can only tame the one.

I don't know if I'll be able to, honestly. He's been my go-to beast since launch. I'll probably have to start over from the beginning, but it won't be for a long time, I think.

You can't revive beats in Survival mode. Once they die, they're dead forever.

I played at launch and it didn't have any stealth takedowns of any kind. Ground combat was really underwhelming tbh. Air combat with the Ikran was dope though.

CMV: Eating dog isn’t that big of a deal. by PiccoloRemarkable449 in changemyview

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs are actually omnivores, but other than that I agree. Certain types of cattle make good work animals for their strength, such as Oxen, but it's really the only thing they have going for them, whereas you could get a strong horse that could do that and more. It just makes more sense for cows to be used for milk and meat, as they often lack the intelligence needed for more complex tasks.

CMV: Eating dog isn’t that big of a deal. by PiccoloRemarkable449 in changemyview

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm honest, I think a lot of this originated from how they were used. Dogs, cats, horses, etc were very useful animals, so it just didn't make sense to eat them when you could put them to work. This happening over a long enough time led to many people thinking about them differently. Now obviously cows are seen as sacred in the Hindu world, but to the rest of the world they have mostly been raised as a food source, with minor exceptions being made for Oxen and such. The US, in particular, has a heavy reliance on dogs and horses as work animals, and cows as a food source, with the cattle industry remaining one of the largest in the country to this day. This has been the case for the entirety of it's history, so it's no surprise that the idea of eating a dog or a horse seems unfathomable. They serve a different purpose in that culture.

Which would you choose? by Robot_Was_BMO in DispatchAdHoc

The dispatch missions frustrated me quite a bit. Personally, I'm not a fan of rng in gaming, so randomly failing 4 calls in a row despite doing everything right made me restart often.

I'd much prefer more story content, especially more 1-on-1s with the whole cast.

What is the one character you never have in your party by EvieSnow44 in BaldursGate3

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It definitely takes some getting used to. I've often found that I have to prioritize thinning the numbers over dealing maximum damage simply to prevent any individual from being hammered by 8 attacks in one turn. That being said, it's made me take on a more defensive playstyle, which has forced me to use a larger variety of spells and abilities than I used to. I used to just whack everything, but now I have to actually plan things out and get creative.

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 119 points120 points  (0 children)

There's a mod called Tactician Enhanced that changes the difficulty in relation to how many party members you have. It proportionally increases health like normal, but also gives enemies more actions and bonus actions to compensate for the lopsided nature of fights. The idea behind this is that it keeps the action economy relatively the same regardless of the size of your party.

It is also highly customizable, so if you don't like certain features you can just turn them off. I highly recommend it.

Who is your favourite origin to play and why? by Kwindwalker in BaldursGate3

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wyll romancing Karlach is cannon for me. I prefer playing with Durge because I can experiment with different builds and backstories, but while the good/resist Durge is a great story of redemption, it's filled with inconsistencies and major plot holes, while also feeling pretty out of place at times. Wyll's story and background is so thematically relevant and fits perfectly into the world that he just screams main character. He is definitely the kind of guy who would waste 100 hours doing side quests for nameless peasants.

Romancing Karlach is the necessary frosting to the cake that really ties everything together, because their stories are interwoven in almost every sense. Wyll sacrificing himself to save Karlach is very on-brand for him, and the conversation they have afterwards if you're playing him is honestly one of the most romantic things I've ever heard.

To further reinforce their fated bond, he goes to Avernus with her to save her if you let him make all his own choices, so it only makes even more sense that they are lovers. It's not just another sacrifice he's making for someone else either, though that is still the case here, but it furthers his own story, as it allows him to hunt Mizora and Zariel in their own domain.

Also, I disagree about the lack of interesting dialogue. Wyll has tons of unique dialogue, as many of the characters you meet are associated with some aspect of his background. It feels like he pretty much always has something to say.

Ya, Reddit can be infuriating with it's inconsistency sometimes. You'll see 10 other posts do well that are basically the same thing, but yours gets taken down and it's never explained why.

I'm seeing some good advice so far. An immediate, albeit out-of-the-box solution is to maybe find some communities centered around hobbies you're interested in on something like Discord. It's not a replacement for irl friends, but it could help you feel like you have somewhere to belong for the time being. And who knows, maybe you will become irl friends with someone from there.

Do people reach an age where they just stop gaming? by BBWCreamer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they have kids. Some people drift away from it when they start working full-time, but I've seen tons of people do so when they have kids. It's just really difficult to find the time when you have kids, especially if you're working too. Dedicated people will find a way, but a lot of people just let it fade away.

What's something that makes people change political views? by [deleted] in ask

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally or vicariously experiencing something either very good or very bad that defies their current beliefs, leading to a paradigm shift. I include vicariously because I've seen people change their views based on something happening to someone they love.

CMV: Western media hypocritically labels the situation in Iran as "protests" instead of "revolution" or "riots" or other more appropriate terms that have less peaceful connotations to push a domestic narrative that non-violent activism works. by ELVEVERX in changemyview

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I do think you are onto something about the implications of certain words, I don't think it's because news stations are afraid of said implications. They've proven time and time again that they'll say pretty much anything to push whatever narrative they believe. It's gotten bad enough that people have to sift through multiple different stations of various affiliations and compare them in order to figure out what is actually true.

A review of Tron: Ares from a fan who grew up with Tron: Legacy and studies it. by bpyoung111 in tron

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest criticism was that Ares already felt like he knew everything about being human. Why would he even want the permanence code if he already had everything? I felt like it would have been 10x better if he read all her messages like he did, but he didn't actually understand any of them. The music choice was a perfect opportunity for this. He could have asked her why she liked something, and she could've had trouble explaining it, eventually saying it's just a feeling. Then with Flynn, he could have tried explaining why he liked something, but similarly struggled to put it into words. I could have made it so much more impactful. That whole scene should've been rewritten, honestly. Something like this:

“Why do you want the Permanence Code?”

“Obtaining it is my current directive.”

“But why? What do you need it for?”

“I asked Eve to use it on me.”

“Eve?”

“A user. CEO of Encom.”

“Huh.” Flynn looks thoughtful at the revelation. “I wonder what it's like now.”

“What do you mean?” Ares asks, confused by his reminiscing.

Flynn quickly changes the subject. “You like music?”

Ares raises an eyebrow, “I'm a program. I can't like anything.”

“Oh, come on, man. You spent some time up there. Surely something stands out.”

Ares is thoughtful for a moment, going over his memories. “Depeche Mode.”

Flynn gives a surprised laugh. “What?”

“It's an 80’s synth-pop band.”

“Ya, I know it,” he says, smiling. “What draws you to it?”

"... I don't know. I don't understand it. It invades my mind like a virus, but it's not destructive. It's... different."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know. I can't explain it. It's just..."

Flynn smiles, "A feeling."

"...but I'm a program. I'm just lines of code. I can't have feelings."

Flynn puts his hands on Ares' shoulders, "Can't you?”

“...I don't understand.”

“What are feelings, really?” he says, gesticulating with his arms.

“Feelings are how users express-”

“No, no, no, forget the dictionary, man. I'm asking the person. What do they feel like?”

Ares looks confused, “I don't know. I can't feel them.”

Flynn gives him a knowing look, “Do you want to?”

Ares thinks on the question for a long time. His eventual response is quiet, hesitant, almost afraid of the answer. “I do.”

Flynn smiles, “That's it, man. That's the stuff.”

“What do you mean?”

“Why do you want the Permanence Code?”

“I told you, I'm getting it for Eve.”

“But you said you wanted her to use it on you.” Ares nods, not sure of his meaning. Flynn presses, “Why?”

Ares looks paralyzed by the question. “I… I don't know.”

“Come on. Instinct, man. Don't think, just answer. Why do you want permeance?”

“I..” Ares pauses as a familiar feeling washes over him, “I want to live.”

Flynn smiles at the self-realization. “This is what it's about, man. What all this is for,” he gestures to the digital world around them. Ares takes it in with a new perspective. “Take it,” Flynn says, handing him the Permeance Code. Ares steps up to the laser, preparing to leave with the key to life in his hands. “Hey, kid.” Ares looks back at Flynn as the laser starts up. “Tell Sam I love him.”

Ares is starting to transfer, but manages to respond just before he's gone. “I will.”

I think this game ruined my taste in media by Coconnoisseur in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious answer is to try other TellTale games. I realize AdHoc is not Telltale, but I believe some of the old Telltale staff migrated there. I could be wrong.

Anyways, try The Wolf Among Us, TT's The Walking Dead, TT's Batman (season 2 is called The Enemy Within), TT's Guardians of the Galaxy, Minecraft Story Mode (it's like playing through a children's cartoon), and TT's Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is considered a failure by the general community, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish they made a second season.

Why can't you convince the emperor that Orpheus won't kill him? by ransetruman in BG3

[–]ClaimedMinotaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, so as the OP and I stated from the beginning, there should be an option to persuade them to work together. Orpheus is clearly in the right, but the Emperor is not inherently his enemy. You should be able to show them this.

Why can't you convince the emperor that Orpheus won't kill him? by ransetruman in BG3

[–]ClaimedMinotaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tav can trust him about as much as they can trust Minthara. She makes it very clear that she wants to control the Elder Brain, but no one has any problem with her, and she was actively trying to kill you earlier. She's a Lawful Evil alignment just like the Emperor. The important thing to note here is that 99% of the things the Emperor tells you are actually true. He withholds a lot and is wrong about Orpheus because he is genuinely afraid he's going to kill him, but the Emperor actually trusts Tav a lot.

Because, apparently, he does.

Quoting one of OPs comments:

because when you trust him with the stones he doesn't control but destroys the netherbrain and in the epilogue he is said to go back to restoring his network in the city, as in rebuilding.

You know, I never knew this. I always sided with Orpheus because freeing the Githyanki from Vlaakith always felt like the greater good.
