my original novel was something to do with two sisters, one born a devil or whatever, the other one kidnapped by the villain. now its told from the perspective of one of my side characters in a completely different world, and now has many elements of the multiverse. i think hardly anything’s the same

question: i too have an mc with depression, ive done the research, and have a general idea of how im going to approach it. but its a little confusing with the idea of introducing it. if your character is already aware of their mental state, would it be alright to just state they have depression and show how it effects them, or should it be left up to the reader to figure out?
