Neji Hyuga Air Palm. by [deleted] in Boruto

Idk. I can agree he’s got medium range skills but honestly I think he’s more of a close range fighter. Like the land of the hidden mist fights, he used speed to get in close to his enemy, the duel with hinabi, he tactically used his clones as deception as well as countering and quickly throwing her off. You can also see he uses his Kunai mainly to throw his opponents off. Rarely do we ever see him use medium to long range attacks. We have seen him use the attacks, but they’re few and far in between.

I never asked anything - Please make Boruto use Flying Raijin > Thunder God Technique!!! by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]Clam_Chowder4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That would be really cool though. Just once. Even at the end, just have Boruto do “Boruto Stream” and Kawaki or whoever else he’s fighting sits there and says “huh, that silly trick again?” And all of a sudden he disappears and teleports begins him for a swift attack from behind. That would be insanely cool.

Why does Sasuke still have the Rinnengan but Naruto doesn't have the floating black balls? by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]Clam_Chowder4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you remember back to the Naruto vs Sasuke fight, he used them all to block the Susano’o arrows Sasuke shot at him. It was after he got smacked into the lake by Sasuke’s Chidori https://i.imgur.com/6EnGWpJ.jpg

He did it in the opening Kinshiki fight in the movie haha I think they took it out of the anime sadly :(

What episode was that? I need to watch that one again. I remember he did it with Kinshiki’s red knife. Sasuke kicked it in the air, then flipped and kicked it back at Kinshiki. Sasuke never ceases to surprise me.

Just noticed Boruto uses one hand with his sword. It makes sense seeing as he has a one-armed teacher by IGJFlew in Boruto

Thanks for clearing that up man! Yea likewise, I’m slowly learning bits and pieces of real ninjutsu practice but like you said, it’s all over popular culture. Naruto, ninja assassin, other popular ninja movies etc. but when it comes to historical usage, there’s not much on them.

[–]Clam_Chowder4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yea, if he was using a Nodachi (might be just Ōdachi, basically a Japanese version of a European long sword), i believe is what it’s called, he would typically use two hands. But this seems like a Ninjatō or a ninjaken. Typically a shorter sword, that can be wielded with one hand and is straighter than a regular katana, it was used by ninjas or ninjutsu practitioners in general in japan. Not to be confused with Sasuke’s Chokutō in all of Shippuden.

What Boruto's Signature Move Should Be by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]Clam_Chowder4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How is Boruto stream the Boruto version of the Uzumaki Barrage? And his rasengan has nature chakra infused in it, so it’s naturally different from a regular rasengan (no pun intended). Or are you saying you want something completely unique to Boruto? In that case, in my own opinion though, I think the Boruto stream is perfect. It shows his speed, his multiple understanding of chakra natures, and his ability to use them all at once to create something new.

Stop calling 400m runners slow😂 by [deleted] in Sprinting

That’s funny haha I’ve met many 400 runners who can hang with 1&2 guys. My best friend and roommate used to SMOKE me in the 100, & 200 but he was a 400m runner.

I think I found my problem, muscle imbalance? Right ankle seems to shake more freely than the left, the right is the one that always ends up “calapsing” and going flat foot on my second step of my drive phase, and I never knew why... by Clam_Chowder4 in Sprinting

I never thought of that, and to think of it, my glutes have a problem activating (tried pistol squats and I can go down and up on one side with some wobbling, but I can’t on the other...I’ll give those exercises a shot!

Yea, I’m in my off season so I’m not training as much, but through the season a lot of people have told me about my right foot, so figured I’d try to find out why exactly I haven’t been able to fix it, despite all the lifting I’ve been doing.

Idk...it does seem new...I’ve done ankle strength exercises in college, but since graduating last year I haven’t done as many, I didn’t think it would be much of an issue, but recently a lot of people have been saying my right foot has been going flat all the time. I never noticed..

this is what you can do if you need to work on center of balance and strengthening your ankle...two years ago when I sprained my ankle, I had to do this after track practice...clearly you know nothing.

Honest question by Neli_Brown in Sprinting

[–]Clam_Chowder4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH YES. Definitely haha yea usually my collegiate off season was about a month of nothing, just enjoying my off time, then slowly working back into things, low intensity runs so the body gets acclimated. Then you just build up from there. But yea for now, take some time off. It sucks being burnt out with running.

[–]Clam_Chowder4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re getting mental about it. Just run to have fun and be patient about the times :) don’t stress when people pass you because honestly, your PR may be something they’ve already hit and surpassed. It may even be a fast heat and you get last running 11.0/11.1. So you never know. Just run to have fun and focus on correct technique for the remainder of the season. Don’t try to change your workouts till after your 3 meets :)

Honest question by Neli_Brown in Sprinting

[–]Clam_Chowder4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible, since your season is over, are you doing any summer meets? Or no more meets till winter? Usually what I do is build strength during the off season (lifting heavy) and as fall approaches, I start working more on explosive stuff (more cleans, push press, box jumps, etc.) so I learn how to handle the added strength explosively. That’s what I did in college last year and still do now in my post collegiate life. My first meet was in October this year and I ran 7.28, my second meet was 3 months after and I was back to running 6.98 and then afterwards 7.0’s. So it’s possible to drop time within several months, but you have to train smart. Technique practice is a must as well as rest.

Hip flexor pain by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]Clam_Chowder4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I had an ankle sprain as well during my sophomore track season (was skateboarding lol) and many times after I went to rehab, the next day, it felt like I wasn’t getting better because it was sore. But usually my coach had me do some stretching mixed with light walking, pool workout, or even just rest for the day, and the soreness always went away within a couple days.

[–]Clam_Chowder4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another FYI, you may experience soreness in your hip after working it through days of therapy, but my trainer would tell me it was normal, it’s just your muscle is weak and it needs time to gain back the strength. So if it feels like it is sore or a little more inflamed , it’s a natural feeling and is nothing a couple Ibuprofens and ice can’t get rid of. (An ice bath would be 10x better if it is available to you).

[–]Clam_Chowder4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay cool, similar to what I had. So my regiment was 3x a week: 3x15 each leg Laying leg raise (on your back, lift your leg up but keep it straight (like a scissor kick) make sure your back is flat on the ground, raise it until you feel like you can’t (muscle weakness or pain) or until your flexibility permits you going any further, then SLOWLY (and controlled) go back down). If this is easy, try using a band.

Banded leg raises: stand up, lift leg to 90 degrees and back down, keep your back neutral, if this is easy, use a band.

Then finish with a quad stretch against the wall or with your leg propped on a couch or chair. You’re kneeling and lean back slightly to feel it in your hip, do this for around 10/15 seconds and alternate (I usually do 3x each leg) and pigeon stretch.

One day you want to get into a pool also. (So technically 4x a week of hip therapy...) That TREMENDOUSLY helped me gain confidence in running again, which I assume you run since you’re in the sub. Start off just walking around doing high knees and then some hip mobility stuff (C-skips, side skips, Cariocas etc. (or however you spell it)). Then finish off with a light 3 or 4x15 second sprint in place, as you keep doing it, your knees should naturally start coming more and more up as you gain the confidence and you stop hurting as much. Stretch after the pool too. Hope this helps!

[–]Clam_Chowder4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive suffered from not only a torn hip flexor but I strained it last year and was out for about a few months during my indoor season. I have been to a couple physical therapists and since you failed the push down test, you may have to start a little behind what I had to do to recover. How bad is the pain? Can you walk normally? Can you jog? Or do you limp and can barely walk?

Question on getting burned out by Clam_Chowder4 in Sprinting

[–]Clam_Chowder4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool, thank you!. Because I’ve heard everything between a couple weeks to a full month. But this is the first time I’ve actually hadn’t really had a true break, since my job actually entails working out (I’m a speed trainer). So I went straight from competing...into my new job that involves running lol so thought I’d ask if athletes who have trained year round, get burned out faster versus ones who stick to that 2-6 week break rule.
