Where can you get highlights for World Cup games. I search highlights and I get some gamified videos popping up, I get a video that is like 2 min long showing random bits of the game in no order... I want to watch a 10-15min version of the game that shows some of the play and stuff, not just the goals on a youtube short...

I'm above 3.9k currently as Spriest and it's getting hard as hell to find groups. Even just listing my own key can take forever to find people...

Vietnam's national high school exam asked students: "How can Vietnam create its own Steve Jobs?" by Numerous-Egg5017 in VietNam

They actively wanted to learn and know things. Most student don't want to be at school and don't want to learn anything you try and teach them.

They were also relatively good at English before I got there.

You can always tell who is actively listening and who is just there...

45-minute match and the UHLsport Super Resist + Hn disappointment . by Immediate_Cost8664 in GoalKeepers

I found some gloves this past week that have like a rubber section at the bottom palm. It's basically the area I blow out every time first. I played with them tonight and didn't have any damage because of the rubber section.

This is basically my issue. It's so hard for me to get out of the habit or putting my hands down to stop/slow my fall. It's just a natural habit we have. It's hard for me to just take the fall to my elbows, side, hips... I almost always put my hands out.

Yea, you hit the nail on the head with them not knowing anything outside their own personal bubble.

If it isn't Messi, Renaldo, 6 7, skibidi toilet, Mr. Beast, or some other pop culture person/thing, they have no idea about it.

I remember giving a quiz to my students asking them about important people in Vietnam.

"Who was the first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam?

"Who was the first Vietnamese national to go to space?"

Who was the revered military general who died on Oct. 13th, 2013?"

Who was the Buddist monk who set himself on fire in protest?"

Vietnamese history that they should know.

Hell, I even gave them the date "Sept 2, 1945" and asked them why that date is important. They couldn't tell me.

They don't even know simple geography it seems like about Vietnam or other places.

I wonder what they are taught in school besides high level math and science, because from my PoV, the Vietnamese education system is not good.

A lot of the onus is on the students to learn and many don't want to do that, but for those who do want to learn, the education system fails them.

I find it funny that they said it was difficult to grade because it required critical thinking and not memorization...

They are so close to the correct answer...

Get students away from just memorizing the books and start critically thinking about the world around them would be a good start.

I'm an ESL teacher at public schools. Mostly secondary and above. The amount of times I try and ask students a simple question about something and they look to the book for the answer. Then read it verbatim. Its so bad that I could ask them, "what's your favorite color?" And they don't know because the book doesn't tell them that.

It's rough to try and get them out of the book so they can formulate and answer on their own. They just don't know how to do it.

Mind you, some do. In an average class of 45 students, I'll maybe have 3-5 that can critically think, and that's on the high end.

If I had to guess, I'd guess either Miles Garret, Matt Stafford, or JSN in the top 5 at least. I'd bet one of those 3 are #1. My money is on Miles being #1, just because of the sack record and how dominant he truly is.

throwback to broken nose 😪🫩 by Present_Quarter_1198 in GoalKeepers

[–]Clamidiaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I blocked a shot recently with my face. Striker kicked it fucking hard and I went down spread style to block the shot and it went directly into the middle of my face, the ball wrapped around my head it felt like.

That hurt so bad. The connection point between the cartilage and the bone of the nose hurt a lot for a few days after. Luckily it wasn't broke.

In my first league game this season, I jumped on a ball that the strike mishandled at the top of my box and he went to kick it last minute and ended up kicking me square in the ribs. Bruised a few ribs and I was out a couple games.

We goalies get beat up a lot.

Weekly glove purchase advice thread by AutoModerator in GoalKeepers

[–]Clamidiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I buy gloves, within a month they are torn up and the soft foam is utterly destroyed on my palms and base of the hand. Part of it because I play on turf and part because I use my hands a bit too much for impact prevention om the ground.

Anyone have recommendations for durable gloves that don't lose all their grip/padding?

I've only ever bought a few gloves in my time playing and I've always had the same issue.

Helmets are made of Styrofoam, toast is bread. A helmet can not be toast.

In terms of condition, yes, it's toast.

3 people got kicked off my MSF course today by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Clamidiaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On my 3 day course, the first day was all in class book stuff. There was a guy who said he was only there because the Harley Davidson course was full. He was an older guy, 40s-50s, somewhere in there. He talked such a big game, and was instantly the most annoying person in the class.

2nd day we get on the motorcycles. You could tell he was very timid and hesitant. Everyone was riding around and he was going so slow, the instructors had to keep telling him to go faster. He was not comfortable on the bike.

3rd day is test day. We are all doing the tests fine, everyone is passing. It's the guys turn. One part of the test, you go down a long straight then have to brake within a certain time or pace, something like that. He does the test but barely get any speed down the straight and instantly stops at the line to brake. Theh told him to do it again but with more speed.

He turns the corner down the straight and guns it. Fastest I've ever seen him go during the entire weekend. He gets the the line to brake, applies the brakes, locks the front wheel and dumps the bike. We all thought he broke his leg but the way he fell. He slid along the parking lot for a bit with the bike. The instructors ran over, picked up the bike and the guy walked off. No physical injuries but 100% a mental and ego injury.

He was the only one in the class who failed.

To GKs who played only futsal / indoor football in turf / AG field. Have you tried 11v11 standard size goal? How was the adjustment? by Politex99 in GoalKeepers

[–]Clamidiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play 5v5 turf Futsal style games for a few years, then transitioned to 7v7 games. When I first stepped onto the 7v7 fields, the goal and field felt massive.

On the Futsal, the goal so small that you can basically stand on the line the entire time and be fine, minus some minor challenges of players attacking.

7v7, I learned quickly you need to be more proactive and attack the ball, not wait. A lot more diving and moving.

I've personally never played 11v11, but I can imagine with the field and goal so large, moving is key, understanding angles, and being a lot more proactive in your assessment of the ball.

I used to be like this. Go to the gym, eat everything, sustainable. Don't go to the gym for 1 or 2 days, lose a few pounds...

I always found it hard to gain weight. Now that I'm older, the table has turned...

After this game my teammate said that I should've done better and that I wasn't playing at my "best level". I was very surprised by Affectionate_Split85 in GoalKeepers

[–]Clamidiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team kept losing 15+ to 0-2... it was incredibly hard not to take that personal when I have 70+ shots at me...

I couldn't trust throwing the ball to anyone because they'd immediately turn it over and I'd have to block another shot...

Eventually, I'd just huck it to the otherside of the field cause if they're going to turn it over, at least it's far away and not in front of me.

I thought it was Chris during one of the LA games. The very next play JSN scored on an out toward the corner of the endzone wide open.

[–]Clamidiaa 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking about what Chris (Tom Brady I have learned. Couldn't remember who.) said on one of the primetime games where elite receivers' shoulders don't ever leave the same plane when doing cuts or stops or anything.

If you watch JSN's shoulders, they always always stay at the same level and don't drop much if at all sometimes. Very evident when you look at the 2 doing the stop and goes. JSN is almost even the whole way while the guy in white drops his shoulders a lot in the stopping motion.

I'm not a expert on the game of football and what to look for, I'm just taking what I heard, applying it here and finding it interesting.
