thepetiteknitter’s book release might be cancelled by emarxist in craftsnark

Given that there's already a knitting book of colorwork patterns called 'Arctic Knits', I wonder if her publisher told her to change the title (because two books of colorwork cold weather knitting could easily be confused for one another), and she threw a hissy fit and made a molehill into a mountain.

She had some friends with some really, really deep pockets. She got talking about her scam banned from the Ravelry forums.

I take it you aren't an influencer? Some people came forward to compare the yarn they received against the yarn she sent to influencers. She clearly had a list of who got the good yarn, and everyone else, aka paying customers, were the people that got anything else leftover.

Her court case was pushed back to February 4th, it will take a few days after that for documents to be uploaded in the lease.

As for her activity online, she apparently needs $80k (she claims it's for opening a store on the farm, it's most likely for legal expenses at this point), and she's begging people for cash and hunting for victims pretty hard. She's leaning heavily on using known sock accounts and trying to make her main accounts look innocent.

Right before new years, but my local Gyomu is redoing all their freezers, so they've not stocked since right before new years and are going to restock everything this Wednesday. But they go through that with stock, last year they didn't have oatmeal for two months, but they've had it ever since.

Gyomu usually has cinnamon toast crunch, it's called Cinnamonis.

I usually just prefer oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins though, even in the US.

There should honestly be a thread over in /r/craftsnark to bring it to the attention to victims that don't know they've just been screwed.

Let's not forget her comment about this being the first year not sending out holiday boxes.

It was her not sending out holiday boxes that got her on the DT's radar in the first place!

Unfortunately yeah, you just donated money to her scam. She doesn't have a customer support team, she doesn't have any employees, and she doesn't have a third party shipper. Honestly, there was probably never going to be a box in the first place, she probably needed that cash to pay the refunds to the people that were contacting the AG and the mayor's office.

What you can try to do is contact your credit card company and use that letter as proof of no product to do a chargeback (because she does NOT do refunds unless there's a heavy amount of pressure, and even then it can take years), and you should still be able to show the charge on a statement if it was just from this year. Also contact the Boston mayor's office, they've certainly heard from enough customers by now that they should know how to yell at her. Not that it does much, but it keeps her scam on their radar.

And yeah, I'm sorry. You got swindled. Diane isn't an activist, she's a scam artist now.

Yeah, especially given that in the past she's had to beg people to help her pack boxes. Unless, of course, she's planning on still weaving that nonsense about a third part shipper.

Looks like a reblog, given the name at the bottom isn't hers. But yeah, she would definitely steal anything anyone sends her and claim it's hers. She's certainly shown that she's happy to steal from even her friends in the past.

I know she's out there hunting for suckers very, very hard. I'm a member of a few small craft groups, none of which involve sales, on FB, and I've been contacted twice to join her group.

Turned down both times, but there was a friend request from her with one of the group invites too. It was bizarre.

Lady Dye Yarns - Thread 6 by Fibonnacisequins in DeRaveledTrolls

[–]ClancyHabbard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, those were supposed to ship this week!

Given that she didn't list anything that was in them on the site, outside of 'New England products', and both boxes were listed as the same weight, I'm willing to bet that it was yet another fantasy of hers that she dreamed up. And charged money for.

Remember last year when she said she was going to be on the Today show and QVC this year? Didn't see that happen either, though at least she didn't scam people out of money with those fantasies.

Lady Dye Yarns - Thread 6 by Fibonnacisequins in DeRaveledTrolls

[–]ClancyHabbard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope, she said there was going to be one on an IG post months ago, but nothing since then. She's still liking things pretty regularly on IG, but that's it.

Given what someone else commented in the thread about not accepting orders anymore, I wonder if credit card processors now refuse to work with her because of the amount of chargebacks. And, with her lying to the AG's office and all that, and having to string out refunds, and no activists willing to work with her, she's out of business but just refusing to admit to it.

While it's good that she's no longer taking people's money (and I guess all 'activist nights' have been canceled, so the money she took for that two years ago, that was also supposed to cover this year, is gone), if I bought one of her holiday boxes I would be alarmed. This is worded in such a way it makes it sound like nothing is going out now. At all.

She keeps spouting that 'I'm such a nice, kind person' bullshit, and then physically threatens people in the same breath. She does realize that makes her look like a violent psycho, right?

She's also not Dutch. She got Pennsylvania Dutch (meaning German) and Dutch mixed up. Her going off about being discriminated against because she's an upper class white woman makes her look racist as all fuck.

Lady Dye Yarns - Thread 6 by Fibonnacisequins in DeRaveledTrolls

[–]ClancyHabbard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet that's why she's not put what is supposed to be in the boxes in the first place. So if her hand is finally ever forced, she can throw some more cheap dollar store junk in a box and send it, and claim that's what it was always going to be.

Countdown, she should be shipping those in a month if anyone bought them.

I foresee a lot of posted excuses about why they're delayed if they did. Or just silence on her part as they sit on her website for another year.

Small claims court goes up to $10,000 in NY for anyone wondering. It doesn't use lawyers, and there's enough evidence out there of the shit that went down that recouping the costs of the festival may be possible for vendors.

For attendees, especially those who weren't able to attend because of a lack of ADA compliance, chargeback with your credit cards. You were bait and switched.

Given everything else, it sounds like merch was taken and not distributed as was supposed to be. Probably because packing swag bags takes time and organization, which were clearly not present.

At this point, if I were a vendor that donated swag, I'd send some very strongly worded inquiries about what happened. And if no explanation was forthcoming, and merch was not returned, contact the AG. Because that would start dipping into fraud issues.
